FAMU Marching 100 is STILL the best band in the land, period! The percussion sound is so on- point in every set! Section leaders, drum majors and all involved... KUDOS!!!
Morris Brown never Lost to them though 🤔 and I'm the Proud father of a Pharmacy Rattler 2020 . It's hard being a Rattler but "somebody's gotta do it " ; so "strike , then strike again " !
I love all… and I mean all… of the HBCU’s band! All of them are excellent in their own way, and all of them have their own unique style! Yeah yeah yep !
I meant no disrespect. I've followed famu for long time. Like since high school. My high school marching band was base on famu style. We played all the drum cadences. And had the whole style of famu. Yes, as you said you guys have evolved for sure. I guess I'm just use to the old famu. I was on the drumline in high school. And now I'm not only a drummer in my own band. But have been a drumline instructor for decade's now. I have taught many drumlines famu cadences. So i have much respect for fam man.
I like ... but to offer some constructive criticism... The snare drums are tuned too low. Tune them to a higher pitch so that they make more of a POP that cuts through the ambient noise in the surrounding environment. Also, integrate more single stroke rolls in your cadences. Those double stroke rolls are going to look and sound weak when you run up on a drumline that's ripping off singles.
@@MARCHING100PAPARAZZI Who said anything about sounding like table tops? Don't take this as a knock... but in my honest opinion your snares sound more like the snare on a set of street buckets than snares. Your snare line is pretty deep in this video and you all are surrounded by concrete (5 sides)... yet your snare's audio is washing out to the point where you can barely define them... especially when your toms and quads are playing. Please don't let my frankness be translated as a form of dis-respect. I just decided to give you an honest reply whether you agree or not. Best wishes to your program.
I like Z-28.....but I can't tell if they're clean. The tuning of the snares, make them sound muddy. And before anyone mentions that the issue is the acoustics of the garage, I'll tell them that I've watched other vids where they were in the stands or an outside lot.....sounding the same. Please tune the snare to a tighter sound. Be traditional, but be progressive. It's 2021, guys. Love you dearly.
@@MARCHING100PAPARAZZI not modernizing it, aint really helping either. FAMU has some great arrangements. Now, imagine going to a New Edition concert. The band plays "If It Isn't Love" and not hearing that crisp snare on the set on the intro. How would you (as the listener) feel? Just providing a perspective. I know that thousands enjoy FAMU, but that doesn't mean that they don't want you to evolve beyond what you're currently doing. Like I said, its all love.
I’ve never been a fan of the 100 but it is good to see y’all get y’all numbers back up I think I’ve heard them say 250 strong if so great job now double that💥💪🏾
Representation is important. It's just as special as when it happens at a PWI. I grew up close to A&T, so I was playing their cadences before I knew what a five stroke roll was. I have never seen a female on their snare line. My father marched in high school with a band whose director marched at FAMU, so I learned how to play Workhorse #9 (I think it's called "Old Sequence" now), at an early age. My father did not like seeing women playing the drums. He changed his mind when he got to see a predominantly white high school drumline, that I coached, playing A&T's cadences and Workhorse #9. Three of the four snares were females. 8 years later, I was coaching a different high school drumline and a parent of one of the female snare players told me that her daughter was inspired to play the drums because she saw the drumline that I had coached in that same parade that my father had seen. They are all special because they are all inspiring to others.
They get no extra props than the rest of the line from me. Being a girl or white is not a disability.The guys on the line inspire as well. The line is the line. The band is the band.
@@MARCHING100PAPARAZZI they used to March 18's until my Crab Year. We had All Males so they went to 20's in 92 and 94 they used 18's because we had 2 Females...Now 20's are the Standard for our Percussion Section Period!
Soooo yall use 20's, because yall had all males. So its not for sound that section am for or what yall do as a section. Also if yall use to march 18's is there a problem that Famu marches 18's ?
I agree. Now they have to really bring it. I think someone has told them. They did a good job at Southern. They can't play that boring Flight of the Bumblebee shit in the SWAC. I'm glad that they have stepped it up.
@@musicjunkie2764 The SWAC was and has been doing good without FAMU. For the last few years FAMU wasn't even the best band in the MEAC. SWAC bands seem to always be ranked higher than MEACs. No disrespect to FAMU. I'm glad they are stepping it up.

Surely, it was more of a "masonic" practices to sell and dream and keep the ranks entitled as retention rates for graduation fell from 1999 - 2010... Social media paradigm exposed the simplicity of this so called precision...
