My t680 KW uses two belts and I’m thinking working with replacing both and the tensioner to, I didn’t replace the alternator yet but it’s almost hitting 500 thousand miles and I believe it’s time to do it’s. Thanks brother very good information,
there was no resdue when the bolt came off, so i typically don't put anti-sieze on them when they don't have it coming from the manufacturer. most of the bolts are metric.
Quick tip, you don’t need to use anything for removal of belt. Just grab the belt closest to you and pull up then slip it off the alt pulley and wallah, belt is released and you can now pull it off without any issues, I’ve done this since the isx came in with the egr. Disclaimer: this may not work for each one and does not work for the ac belt, but I’ve done this for almost 20 years now and never needed a tool to remove the main drive belt
It takes a lot of strength, isn't everyone as strong as you? brother. Although I am also a mechanic. I'm still tired of using tools to remove the belt. Hahaha😂
@@crashnburn586 Don't cut the belt. You might have bought wrong one. Keep the old one for an emergency break down, or your buddies truck may have an emergency belt break down.
I used to buying aftermarket parts but unfortunately sometimes not worth buying anymore some aren’t good, I prefer buying original parts, you take care yourself,
I appreciate your videos. Love the comment about the people who drive around with a mask on and they are the only ones in the car. Who exactly are they trying to protect? How much would this repair cost in a shop parts and labor?
I'm getting a high pitched squeal/whistle only under throttle and typically above 1300rpms could the tensioner be cause of this I've already replaced the belts and still have this issue
I am hearing very high consistence rattling noise in the pulleys area, it’s very hard to figure out whether it’s the belt tensioner or alternator, any tips to know if there is any differences in noises they make when they are bad
You also might know when the damn belt goes flying off like mine did while driving! Thank god I had the old belt as a spare with tools on me. Replaced spring tensioner to hydraulic
You can see the belt going offset to that tensioner pulley just a hair, and it will make a slight noise. That's the v tensioner beginning to fail, due to Time. Time breaks down all components that turn.
So what was the reason for the change ? Was there noise like a high pitch sound coming from the tensioner? I have a high pitch sound coming from my engine area when under load up hills ect. Im wondering if that made any unusual sounds prior to the exchange of parts .
Was it just time for some preventative maintenance on these items, or was there a malfunction or visible damage? I missed the reason why this work was being done.
Hey there CM1, I did 8 years active duty as a Electricians mate, got out as a EM1. then joined the Bees as a CM, did 6 years got out as a CM1. Anyhow next time your doing a load board video can you do it as a flatbed driver. if I get a truck I would want to run flatbed or stepdeck. thanks brother Bee.
Sir this video has helped me out so much again!! My fan belt tensioner went out and got stranded on the side of the road outside Houston TX...this video helped me get the part number and cross reference numbers accurately...plus good tips on installing it myself...good thing there was a buddy of mine that brought the part to me. AWESOME JOB ON THE VIDEOS! God Bless you sir on your new business!
