Phalanx was a formation used mainly by the greeks and the macedonians, where they cluster together with a wall of spears in front of them The thing imperius does here is no doubt a roman strategy, but it's called the testudo formation i.e in latin turtle formation, they used it to protect themselves from the shower of arrows their enemies used to throw at them

The xin xi were destroyed far before we got there. I don’t know what they did to get themselves into that situation, but it proved too much for them to handle. I shall try my best to aid them as best as I can, but they might be beyond saving…
I always know that the number next to unit means how many people we have. I mean Polytopian Units are small it’s just a whole group that’s with them together.
