@@akhrorrasulov7020He was Croatian kickboxer that fought in PRIDE FC and was infamous for his left high kick. Look up “Mirko CroCop highlights”. You will enjoy yourself if you’re into the sport. Good for you for asking the question. We were ALL “casuals” at one point. Cheers 🍻 bro.
There all championship fights except the Diaz vs Conor. Good upset but DDP was starring 2 get noticed but that win definitely put his career in a different leveleven though I thing Strickland beat him in a close fight 3-2.
I don’t think Sean won the fight in ufc judge scoring if it was scored like one where the fight is scored as a whole Sean would win but in the ufc Sean just barely lost 🤷
@@foreverlikethestarss ufc goes round 4 round. I still had Sean winning 3-2 . Close fight.ill be honest. That cut made it look likeDDP fucked his face up but DDP whole face was mangled. Great fight.
Discovered UFC one night when I was sick. It was the TUF Season 1 Finale. Amazing. Watched for a couple years, then stopped. Buddies invited me out to go see a fight a couple years back after my long hiatus - it was Rousey v Holm.
Yeah that was great i really wanted to pick Max cuz of his IQ and gaethje had a weird way of blocking headkicks, thats how he got his nose fucked up from the spinning backkick
Yeah when it was made I was one who counted him out sadly. However I’m a huge Max fan and kept up with his YT channel and he looked way bigger and was so much more prepared I ended up switching my pick and cashed in it’s a great honorable mention
People keep saying that but Gaethje was only a -115 favorite. Who are all these people counting Max out in what Vegas said was basically a pick 'em fight? This is just revisionist history.
My favorite upset will ALWAYS be Chuck Liddell vs Rashad. I been watching UFC since you had to rent it on VHS next to the faces of death videos so the new fans won't know that era.
@@MedroffYT Really?? Sh is sad. Not even that serious but I see it so often that it brings awareness to ignorance and lack of awareness at an all time high. His name is clearly mispelled.
@RelentlessPedigree dude grow up. It's the internet, and Conor can be spelled both ways. Sure, that's not how Mcgregors name is spelled, but you knew who he was talking about, right? Sometimes, it's just not that important. It's definitely not sad. It's just....nothing. not to be thought about. So the guy added an extra "n." It's not the end of the world and definitely not an egregious spelling error 🤣
Matt Sera over GSP & J Pena over A Nunes. This next one won't be on many people's lists but after Cody Garbrandt beat D Cruz he looked unbeatable so Dillashaw defeating Cody was an upset for me, obviously I was naive in Cody's overall mental & physical abilities- I even thought he would win the 2nd fight!! I know... I know 🤷♂️ 🤦♂️
Watched Matt Sera vs. GSP live, both of them, and you are correct. When he finished GSP me and all of my buddies watching were blown away. It was crazy.
Mad respect for admitting you predicted it wrong alot of people wouldnt do that. I remember being so hype for both of TJ vs Cody fights i thought TJ would win the first one then for some reason i picked Cody for the second one 😂
I love Jens but UFC did him dirty when they decided to bring Lauzon to TUF where Pulver is the opposing coach. That is so awkward knowing the participant on the other team knocks you out 😂
It was the perfect storm for Pena to win that fight.... Amanda was in the process of changing gyms and running her own gym, she was also in the process of adopting a child and also just recovered from covid..... And the rematch showed just how lucky Pena got in the first fight... She got mopped for 25 minutes straight
It’s 100% Serra beating GSP. Serra didn’t really do anything before that or anything after that. Weidman defended his title a couple of times. Holly was a champion boxer and also continued to have success afterward. Nate had also fought for a title previously and was bigger than Conor
Yeah, I don't consider most these to even be upsets. GSP/Serra, Bisping/Rockhold and Julianna/Nunes are the only ones I consider upsets and the second two aren't even big ones. Most of this video is just long standing champions or someone on a long undefeated streak losing to a better fighter who was relatively unknown by casuals at the time.
I’ve witnessed all of these live, tv ofc, but man each one definitely was shocking af. So many legends and big names in these It’s crazy to see how far the ufc has come
Anderson 'Milkman beater' Silva is highly overrated. He just got exposed later in his carrer. Him getting KO'd was no upset. This type of showboating only worked against bus drivers and plumbers. 2nd generation fighters exposed him. His only good wins were vitor and henderson.
the better question is how is silva greater than khabib when silva had only 1 win against a bum to get a title shot against a bum a beat no ranked opponent first one he faced against weidman and got ktfo khabib is better no debate
My Top 10 Upsets in UFC 1. Aldo vs Conor 2. Anderson Silva vs Weidman 3. Alex Pereira vs Adesanya 4. Ronda vs Holm 5. Cro-Cop vs Gabriel 6. Shogun vs Jon 7. Cruz vs Cody 8. Ciryl vs Jon 9. Conor vs Nate 10. Cyborg vs Amanda
Some of these fights shouldn't even be considered upsets: 1. Holm +820 vs. Rousey 2. Dillashaw +710 vs. Barao 3. Julianna Pena +700 vs. Amanda Nunes 4. Grasso +580 vs. Shevchenko 5. Bisping +550 vs. Rockhold 6. Strickland +540 vs. Adesanya 7. Matt Serra +345 vs. GSP 8. Nate Diaz +340 vs. McGregor 9. Leon Edwards +280 vs. Usman 10. Chris Weidman +210 vs. Silva
Cody “No Love” Garbrandt’s win over Dominick Cruz is as close to being a Masterpiece as I’ve seen. He hasn’t gotten close, since. But that one was something special.
I'm fine with the rest, but Holm beating Rousey was only an upset if you know nothing about striking. I won a lot of money that night! 😂 I also had Nate to beat Conor, but I'm happy for that to be classed as an upset. Holm beating Rousey seemed so obvious to me.
Whether you look at it in the present day while it happened or in hindsight Matt Serra is and likely will always be the biggest upset the UFC has seen because of how the UFCs format has changed. A Championship fighter wouldnt even get the chance to replicate that nowdays and even if they did it would still be almost impossible to top considering the complete domince the win was w/out having a one punch KO. He literally beat the GOAT at the time and still arguably the goat to this day in dominating fashion everywhere like he, Matt himself, was the GOAT that day giving out lessons to one of the most supreme fighters the sport has seen. The other ones were pretty amazin also but moreso on the storylines, reactions and how it happened and many if not all fell off after defeats for whatever reason. Js
That's a good point that no one can even get a chance to do that again, it will most likey be the biggest upset ever forever because of that. The only way would be a late replacement like Rockhold/Bisping but even then they'd choose someone ranked 2-10 in the division.
At the time, Forrest Griffin tapping Rua the first time they fought was a massive upset. A lot of these weren't even upsets, they're considered upsets only because casuals didn't know who these up and comers were. Like Silva/Weidman, not an upset at all, people thought it was because most casuals had no idea who Chris was, most people never even saw him fight before he fought Silva. Holm/Rousey not an upset, Diaz/McGregor not an upset, Edwards/Usman not an upset, Dillashaw/Barao not an upset, Stickland/Izzy not an upset. Very odd choice of "upsets" but then again it's "fans choice" and most fans are casuals.
Dillishaw vs Barao doesn't get enough love. No one gave Dillishaw a snowball's chance in hell of winning this fight, and he only knocked Barao out AFTER absolutely piecing him up for 4+ rounds.
You need to make one about bad judges on decisions. Like strickland losing to du plessis, gustaffson and Reyes losing to Jones. There's so many of them but those are the ones that stand out the most to me right now.
Based on rankings, odds and skill/timing of the matchups, some of these fights are BARELY upsets. A #2 or 3 contender beating a champ shouldn't even be on this list. GSP was the greatest WW, and perhaps the P4P king - and is still in the conversation as such - when an unranked Matt Serra - who only got the title shot because he won a narrow split decision on TUF to earn his way back into the UFC - KO'd him in the first round. That was easily the biggest upset on this list and perhaps ever.
