In this video I show you guys how to replace a fan switch on a 2003 Mazda Protégé, and we dive in and see just how simple or tedious!, it can be to replace a fan switch.

Hahaha. Funny, but I spend a lot of my time working on cars especially my own not that they arent ok to drive, but to keep them in pretty sound condition. Thats why I made this channel to share my info to others! Thanks for watching!

I appreciate your video, but in my case after replacing the switch I was still having the same issue. I am putting this here so maybe it can help someone else down the line... I ended up doing the resistor fix with 200ohm and 470ohm together on one end... then 470ohm to other end of the circuit and 200ohm splicing to ground. Now the A/C light remains on constantly as I can cycle to any speed and any setting on the climate controls

I appreciate it, and did you happen to use a factory dealer knob though? Found this to be the problem on many of the cars i see.

@@Thatspeedprotege that's good question, but no I ended up getting the Dorman for $18, but I could tell the OEM I removed was heftier. I didn't want to pull everything out again so I just left the Dorman in and I'm keeping the OEM just in case. FYI, the white harness connector is nice and clean not burnt and no signs of oxidation... I live in Miami and it's always hot. I don't understand why installing the resistors do to make it work again, just happy the A/C is not cutting off anymore.

@@maxrx7 the switch has resistors in it which make the switch do its magic for each fan speed! That was the original problem. The resistors would take a poop. And need a new switch.

I just found person recently on Facebook who makes a plug n play wire harness kit for the ac that has the resistors wired in already 💯 waiting for it to arrive this week

fcking great.. bought some good looking knob replacements from ali. middle one wasn't a good fit, so i took the metal spring from the oem knob, put it in the ali knob, didn't fit but pushed the white switch part further in so that the original knob doesn't hold anymore either... now i have to take this whole fcking shitpiece out and try to fix this crap. i hope your how to will be helpful.
