I think The Splinter would have been more accurate, since at least A Pal for Gary is entertaining on a "what's gonna happen" level if nothing else, and Pet Sitter Pat is a compilation episode which kids do really like. The Splinter is straight-up fucking unwatchable. It's also totally disgusting, which fits the context of the scene.
When I was younger I thought that all Sponge Bob episodes were good (I’ve grown out of that mentality now) but A Pal for Gary I didn’t think was good back then so thats how bad the episode is someone with rose tinted glasses could still see how bad it is

I've purposely avoided the new trailer, so I didn't see what was new(except Monsters Inc. due to the thumbnail). When I heard about it I skipped to the end of the video just to see if the release date was still 2018.
If you're worried about spoilers, the "Don't Think Twice" trailer should satisfy you. Except for the last scene (which isn't spoiler-y at all), everything is from previous trailers, and only one of those contains a pretty spoiler-y thing from the first trailer.
