Instructions for working this stitch:
Cast-on a multiple of 4 stitches, plus 2
Every Row: K1, *SSK, M1L, P2*, repeat between *s to last stitch, K1
Repeat this row to desired length, BO in 2x2 rib.
To work this stitch in-the-round:
Cast-on a multiple of 4 stitches
Round 1: *SSK, M1L, P2*, repeat between *s to end of round
Round 2: *K2, M1R purlwise, P2tog*, repeat between *s to end of round
Repeat these rounds to desired length, BO in 2x2 rib.

It's the stitch of my favourite poncho I've bought in Spain 7 years ago.I 've been searching for this stitch from the very first day I took the needles!!! Now I guess I would say STACI YOU'RE MY HEROINE!!!

That is theee best way to get your needle in back for a knit through the back...the slide it over the needle trick. Genius!!! I'm always splitting my yarn and it slows me down and frustrates me. Not anymore!!! Love this♡♡ I'm going to try it out this afternoon. Thank you. Your videos are so brilliantly well made.

So I was bored with a rice stitch project I've been working on for a couple of weeks now. I decided to go for a hat with this pattern - on the round. Continental. Combo. Purling two together is a nightmare. And make 1 purlwise is like.. gymnastic for my fingers and mind. I'm not getting old. Not getting old. Thank you for this beautiful video ♡♡♡

ALZulas - working the Make 1 stitches from the cast-on row are really the same as subsequent rows. The bar between two stitches is easy to find.

This is a great series! I am going to try and make washcloths with these stitches! I have a ridiculous amount of cotton yarn to use up so this will be perfect practice for these stitches in this series! Thank you!

I know this is a very late comment, but I finally got around to trying this beautiful stitch. I'd like to make a scarf for a grand-daughter. I like my selvedges to be neat and uniform on both sides. Would you suggest a built-in I-cord? Perhaps two or three extra garter stitches? I saw a recommended cast on and bind off. What about the Chinese waitress cast on and bind off? Any other helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. TIA Ginny in TN

How would you cast off with this? I thought I may use this verses the two row rib baby bootie girls doing a make five cast off frill...the eyelet is pretty too as well as the sailor but not a two by two. Thanks

Staci, I want to use this pattern for a sweater I’m working on but am a little confused. In the instructional video you indicate that the row is repeated. In the written instructions there is a second row…. Is this a different look? I’m working in the round and liked that this pattern looked the same on the front and back. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you're working a flat piece, the same row is repeated over and over. If you're working in the round, there are two rows/rounds to work to create the pattern. verypink.com/2014/02/19/fancy-stitch-combo-corded-rib/

Will this stitch work for making a mobius cowl? I am fascinated by the mobius and watched your video and make a seed stitch mobius tonight. Trying to find a different stitch or pattern that will work for mobius. What's your thought?

lma1831 - yes, since this stitch is identical on both sides, it should work well for a moebius cowl.

Trouble getting this stitch to work. Cast on 32 stitches ; used straight needles; never came out the same way twice. Any hints?
