It makes me miserable seeing this how she ended up at the end of her life. She was so lucid, on top of things, she must always have been so busy, sociable and had so many friends. Yet she ended up alone and in a sorry state 😔
Was this program really shown originally in B&W? This is mid-1970, but according to the BBC website: "BBC2 broadcast its first colour pictures from Wimbledon in 1967. By mid 1968, nearly every BBC2 programme was in colour. Six months later, colour came to BBC1."
Some shows ( very few) were broadcast in B&W as late as 74 /75 - the Open University for example - Colour TV really went mainstream from the Royal Wedding in Nov 73 (Ann & Mark)
It's also available on the BBC iPlayer and it's in black and white there foo. I get the impression the change to colour was relatively piecemeal. Apparently colour TV was only available in certain parts of the country in 1969 and it took a while to be available everywhere.t
I love this. I was wondering whether this was a one off programme or whether it was the first in a series, as Fanny mentions that Johnny is going to discuss wines in the next programme. Could it be that a whole series was planned but that only the first programme was ever made? I'd love to know whether there are more programmes where this came from. Thanks for posting.
