Yeh I had no idea this movie was being made till I saw a trailer. It never needed a 4th movie, the trilogy was perfect enough. But then again it's dreamworks and they want money.
"Kung Fu Panda 4 wasn't meant to be a good movie! That is not my fault!" "Not your fault?! Who filled our heads with expectations?! Who made us wait 8 years for the movie to release?! WHO DENIED US OUR MASTERPIECE?!"
Exactly right!!! Like, Kai isn't even supposed to exist either since he really died in part 3. I think instead of Kai, they should have brought Oogway back. Oogway was still alive in part 3 and said that "he lived in the spirit realm." So technically he would have walked back into it with no problems 😂
@@1119-w3u this would require they actually cared about the story, it would make sense if it was Oogway since he is like 1000 years old, which makes him a treasure trove of kung fu knowledge
lol i was expecting something different from kung fu panda 4 but they disappointed. kai was a main lead and character that should perform in this movie with new different story then it'll be a more lit and awesome.
@@fyran6453 film is an artform. If the movie is made with the intention to make a product, it takes away all of what makes film great. That's what Disney does.
@@fyran6453 how does it sound like forcing censure?? Hes saying no studio should say that "kung fu panda wasnt supposed to be good!!!!!!" When the first trilogy is a testament to how wrong they are
@@TheWarmachine375True. But I would have expected him to at least try to escape. Its not like being dead would mellow him out, he was already dead the first time.
Whatever new Megamind movie is , It's much better than dragons nine realms , kfp dragon knight & paws of destiny , dawn of croods and croods family tree
I simply refuse to let parts 5 and 6 happen unless the original director comes back with full creative control. That woman knew what gave this universe life and soul, get this new team tf out of the office
@@Reader999exactly. Kinda how shrek the third ruined the 4th one. It could have a been a perfect trilogy but you start to wonder what tf they were thinking.
Yep, that director has had a long line of making terrible films like Trolls, Shrek 3, Alvin and the chipmunks, perhaps his best movie to direct is the lego movie 2, but the rest can go in the bin along with his hair@@vicentenunez9390
The moment the trailer didn't show any of the Furious Five and instead had a new character that almost acted like a replacement to them easily made me suspect that it isn't going to be the same quality as the previous movies
the fact is that really the only person at fault is the movie director of kung fu panda 4, because they had control over EVERYTHING even more control than what they should normally have
@tensei1710 What could be the possibile reason for not choosing yuh nelson to direct the movie. I mean she's the reason for this trilogy success & sky-high popularity. It doesn't make sense to sideline her
Mike was the reason we never saw a scene between shiful and Thailand + sense the announcement I was always hoping they would get the 2an films Director because she did such a amazing job with the franchise i hope they bring her back for 5
@tensei1710I'm sorry tHEY WHAT?! Jennifer reached out but they DENIED? They should've known better if it wasn't for her, the 2nd movie wouldn't be a masterpiece and everybody love it. That's such a stupid move... (Genuinely pissed rn lol)
@tensei1710 Mike Mitchell was not their first choice. The original director was Joel Crawford, the same director of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. For some reason, Joel was fired from Kung Fu Panda 4, and Mike replaced him.
The codirector of the film went on record explaining what happened. Apparently most of it is the other guy’s fault. He wanted comedy and had full creative control. whenever she tried to inject continuity or seriousness, it was rejected. The character designer left the project in a week, and the furious 5 and Shifu were an after thought. The writers apparently didn’t allow anyone to give criticism. It’s funny cuz The Last Wish got so much love for being serious at the right times and this movie didn’t think that maybe it was worth replication. Idk when this movie started development but DreamWorks really does have no consistency whatsoever.
Kung fu panda 4 had such a cheap feeling to it the way they get rid of the furious 5 at the beginning, the mishandling of past villains (tai lung is the only one with any lines and even then he has like 2 minutes of screen-time while others are reduced to background characters despite being heavily involved in the marketing), the chameleon’s character was a giant nothing burger despite having a lot of potential and po + zhens friendship was so rushed/forced
I haven’t watched it yet, mostly cause when I watched the trailer it felt like a plot of the tv show not a good movie. My only question, is the Furious Five in it?
@@bubbalub2243 aside from the excellent animation, yes, they messed things up badly. At the point that when you're 15-20 minutes watching, there are already 4 big plot holes in the story. It has SOME good scenes like the fights, but remove that and... Well, you can assume the answer.
@@bubbalub2243 yes it is pretty bad , the ending is so horrible, shen and tai lung return but have a change of heart for no reason and shen doesn't even has dialogs, then some random is made dragon warrior but it should've been tigeress . Oh and furious five is non existent , appears in end credit no dialogs
@@yanmartin3346I could genuinely be wrong bc it’s been ages since I watched them but didn’t the other movies have more pop/rock songs play during the credits?
This is even more harsh in my country, because the voice actor of Shrek was a legendary voice actor, and he passed away a few years ago. Now we all in fear, knowing that whoever will be the new voice actor, he wont be able to fill his shoes.
You understand the betrayal when you don't see the Fuorious 5 in the trailers.. I don't care about the voice actors, I want to see the characters, they are the Main characters!
They need to show tai lung reuniting with shifu in the 5th one because thats what was meant to happen in the fourth one but of course Mike Mitchell had to ruin it.
Tai Lung did not wanted to come back though.. didn’t you see? He accepted the fate and went back to spirit realm because it was law of their culture or wtv and even shen and kai who were evil went back even though they could’ve escaped
That masterpiece just great without a sequel but guess what DreamWorks or peacock decide to create sequel with shit animation DreamWorks ain't really kinda cool right now
"Kfp 4 wasn't supposed to live up to the hype, that is not my fault" "Not your fault? Who filled my premiere with hype? Who left me waiting 8 years for the release? Who denied me my PERFECTION!?"
Sequel to one of the most successful, analyzed and respected movies is supposed to be NOT good? I think I see the way Megamind 2's creators were thinking

hear me out tai lung redemption spin off *edit 29 july 2024 guys, i came up with the plot, for unknown reason, tai lung returns from the spirit realm for reasons he himself doesnt know. unlike the years in the prison, years in spirit realm turn tai lung mellow and decides to forget about the dragon scroll, it's just a blank paper anyway. then he embarks on a journey to regain his honor (zuko style). he starts beating up petty crimes and get praised (despite he still get angsty around and cant handle praises, feeling icked). he meets some of the villagers that he has attacked or had their property destroyed before. he tries to make up for it, doing small quests, help selling noodles to pay for the damages. then he slowly uncovers that someone has been messing with the spirit realm (which was resulting in him accidentally return to the real world). he pursues the villain. at the climactic moment, the villain offers him the ability of spirit realm manipulation, which is a godly power. with that kind of power, one can truly be special according to the villain. however, tai lung says that he doesnt need that ability to be special, he just needs to believe it, as he says while staring into a mirror (the mirror's frame is similar in appearance to the dragon scroll despite it being just a random mirror). the villain gets mad and attack him anyway, tai lung gives him the wuxi finger hold. tai lung says that he wants to try a skill that he has been figuring out recently, "skadoosh". tai lung feels free and at peace, he feels like he has regained a better honor. he continues his journey with no more angst. however, just when he thought he has let go of his past, he meets master shifu. upon seeing the new tai lung, master shifu says he has always been proud of him, and he is proud of what he is becoming. and he is sorry that he cant help him to get here. tai lung says "i dont want your apology. i want my "scroll". and i have gotten it." *edit 16 august 2024 i got another idea to extend the resolution, a surprise treat, another exciting battle after we have gotten it during the climax. after making up with master shifu, tai lung go find po for a rematch. he picks cookies and put it inside a random scroll. he says that he heard from shifu that po likes cookies. he throws them for them both to chase it. "Our battle will be legendary!" they have another rematch where tai lung even able to counter po's belly. in the climactic moment, they both give each other the wuxi finger hold. their battle does become legendary, told for centuries to come. then, after the fight, tai lung bows to po in respect. po returns the gesture without saying a word.
At the end, I was actually hoping Po would ask Tai Lung to stay. There was a moment in that first movie, right near the end, where you could see Tai Lung waver, after learning the secret of the Dragon Scroll, that what he was doing wasn't worth it. However, he had been through too much, and just couldn't let go of the anger. I hoped 10 years in the spirit realm had mellowed him a little.
The Furious Five were needed in this movie. The villain was legit so compelling (but defeated poorly and with plot armour) who should’ve been Po’s most difficult enemy but because the actors are so expensive, Dreamworks explained them away by saying “they’re on their own super secret missions,” instead of doing the proper thing and recasting them. The movie suffered because those making it were scared people would be upset over something so minute, and tried to make up for it with characters that don’t make sense in those roles (Po’s dads, as much as I love them)
I had this thought: maybe instead of being a continuation of Po’s story, we focused on Tai Lung being confronted with his crimes and their consequences, being sorrowful for what he’d done, and learning how to turn his life around. In other words, allow Kung Fu Panda 3 to be the end of Po’s story and focus instead on a different character!! We could focus on Tigress, other Furious 5 characters, etc.
We go from one of the best movie sequels ever with puss in boots 2 the last wish. To a bad sequel with kung fu panda 4. And Megamind 2 is so bad it's torture
After Push in Boots sequel of course people would have high expectation of Kungu Panda too, expecially those meme who compared chad Dreamwork to disney pixar
If they do go along with making Kung Fu panda 5 and it ends up being good(hopefully), I do wonder if it ends up being a Cars situation where the 4th movie will be ignored.
@@rickyronny4019 Yea. I went into the movie blindly without all this drama about interviews and stuff, and I got quite some joy form the movie, even with how weak and covered in holes the plot was. Even with how weak this movie was, it still left strong cards for the next 2 movies - we just need a good director who can play them well in next 2 movies
It's sad because the original director had these great ideas and wanted to have the tone of the first 2 but this other guy (that I cant remember his name), who had more creative control, reworked the movie and got rid of all the good ideas to make it more kiddy with more jokes and a less serious tone. For example, he initially wanted Zhen and The Chameleon to have no backstory but the cast and crew finally pushed hard enough and got him to make a backstory. Although the only problem was that there wasn't enough time to animate a backstory so they just added a few lines of dialogue 😭😭😭
"You knew that Kung Fu Panda was a trilogy... You always knew. But when Universal told you to make a sequel, what did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO?! NOTHING!"

@@lexramstudios1386 You're definitely barking up the wrong tree with that argument with me personally as I didn't like Shrek Forever After either. It was *certainly* better than Shrek the Third though, that's for sure.
@@TitanKaiju75Shrek Forever After was a great movie. Y’all are too hung up on the first two movies to appreciate its artistry. Go watch Scrafillas Production’s review. He’ll definitely provide some insight on why it’s good
Shrek 5 is also a bit muddled. Because they said it's gonna be a reboot but it's labeled as a sequel. Also it's being directed by the guy who created the Minions from Despicable Me...
You know what would make this great, is that if Kung Fu Panda 4 becomes a Shrek The Third scenario and KFP 5 and 6 surpapses the past 3 movies, with people pretending KFP 4 never existed
It depends if they decide to, so to speak, pretend the events of KFP4 didn't happen and make KFP5 the true sequel, but I don't know, I'm saying Zhen is now an already introduced main character.
Honestly, this movie is not bad, if it is standalone movie, BUT if we compare and relating this movie with all others KungFu Panda movies, then this is bad movie.
Im still confused on how Kai managed to come back in 4. Like Tai lung was skadooshed to the spirit realm and Shen died so him coming from the spirit realm makes sense too... Did kai not fucking die IN the spirit realm? Which would make him like... DEAD dead? Or did they just lazily retcon that so they could shove it in our face for "fanfare"? Honestly we never needed a 4th movie, hell we never really even needed a 3rd the 2nd was such a great ending that it would have worked well on its own. I really, REALLY hope they cancel 5 and just let us have 2 great movies and one good one.
"Skadooshed to the spirit realm" should be the new way to say "killed" without triggering the moderation bots, like how "unalive" was before they caught on
It was planned to have 2 trilogies for KFP from the very start - first trilogy about Po being a dragon warrior, and second about his spiritual leader path.
@darcidious99: My head canon is that "death" in the Spirit Realm is never permanent. If you get destroyed there, your spirit takes some time to regenerate. It's not a perfect theory, but it makes _Kung Fu Panda 3_ and _4_ logically consistent.
@skullsnguns22 kinda yes, but it still introduces the issue of how are you gonna stop some guy from always fighting everyone and comming back to life. I wish 4th movie just didn't do a mistake of bringing him back.
Yo when he pulled out that kung fu panda 5 that was actually sick. It felt like a real emotional scene and felt like it had real life stakes! Like it was a make or break for the franchise and now dreamworks have to make the decision to go silly or serious!!!
