Fairly sure those “circles” on Cradily’s head are SUPPOSED to look like its eyes. It’s quite common for certain animals to have false eyes to deter predators
@@Mobtrapper-hq8is Honestly, I don’t know why I’m still surprised at this point. Pokemon fans regularly show themselves to have a total lack of understanding of basic design philosophy
@@Dr_Mortis_SCP yea FR. I mean, Voltorb is a new (or at least, new at the time) and inventive take on the classic monster idea of a mimic, designed to more easily fool trainers, rather than D&D-esc explorers, but people will just look at it and say “boring ball, F-tier.”
@@Dr_Mortis_SCPfr they don’t understand that about all designs past gen 2 are good designs they have design bases and concepts you can’t just remove a concept because it doesn’t look great
@@dominichartzen683 especially when they don't even bother to replace it with anything new. It just leaves the pokemon looking like it's missing something.
I believe they made the conkeldurr look like that on purpose, but some people really do think stuff like that is better. plus, YOU CAN'T FIX DRAGONITE CAUSE HE'S FOKIN *PERFECT*
I get wanting Dragonair to have an equally beautiful and majestic evolution, but then it should just have a branch evolution. Dragonite is sweet, powerful, and only wants to deliver mail and give hugs.
Dragonite is made as a reference to a legend about sea serpents gaining a magical gem to become a dragon so whoever wanted him to look like a snake doesn’t get the story
@@zackxeno1019 Yeah, I'd go with the weird nub legs. Feels like it should be dug into the ground like Diglet or have them taper down like tentacles/roots
@@RorikHI mean it DOES learn Ingrain. Ingrain and Leech Seed makes it a regenerating tank... If it had better defenses. Zamazenta wishes it had as good recovery
Some fixes: HITS LIKE A BOSS!! Some other fixes: Is a total disaster... I do like the Dragonite alternative look. I could see it as an alternative evolution. Being a Water/dragon type.
@@m4rcyonstation93Just in this video, there’s only one change I’d call an improvement (meganium’s longer tail). Everything else is cool but unfit for the Pokémon at best; literally taking away everything interesting about a Pokémon at worst.
@@user-xw7zk3tj7f I think the longer arms krook and the cosmos X are awesome. Flareon is a cool concept. And I think if Dragonite came out as that redesign nobody would bat an eye (maybe that's just me being a sucker for that kind of dragon though. Dunseraph is one of my favorite fakemon)
The Flareon design makes no sense. Those large tufts of fur are supposed to cool Flareon’s utterly stupid level of body heat down so it doesn’t melt from the inside, making the fur spontaneously combust would hurt the poor Flareon :(
Also, the tufts already look like flames anyway. Why does he need to literally be on fire? It just overcomplicates his design and makes him less cuddly.
Not to mention it doesn't match at all with the rest of the eeveelutions. Their basic body shape and colors give across the point of their typing without actually putting it on them
Same. I was always so disappointed with Dragonite’s final form. It had this elegant look of Asian style dragons that all of a sudden exploded into Barney the dinosaur. I don’t care that it was supposed to resemble Western dragons, it looks kinda bleh. Charizard was a waay cooler look for Western dragons.
@@kristinahuchison2511should have just given charizard the dragon typing and made a propper evolution for dragonite instead of what we got. Personaly I’ve never liked the design of dragonite, nothing of it fits tbh
Dragonite is one of the most perfect Pokémon designs just how he is. He is a derpy boy that looks like he wants to cuddle but could wipe out a whole village because he’s HIM.. Dragonite the definition of F around n find out
Actually love the Krookodile change. It fixes his proportions so he gives less “Fat baby that’s stealing other kid’s toys” and more “Menacing little henchman that would fit perfectly in team rocket”.
having flames has been done so many times its kinda not special anymore (i know its gen 1 but the ponyta line does it better). the heated fur is really unique. however the gray color scheme make it work really good, like burning ash. could see it being a variant
I love how sharply different Dragonite is It kinda makes it feel like there's two Dragon lines in Kanto from afar, given how they don't look alike. Makes sense considering the only trainer that uses them is Lance, having both a Dragonair and Dragonite in his team
It doesn’t need to be goofy. If dragonites regular design wasn’t, I doubt it would feel necessary. Nothing about Dratini or dragonair sets up a goofy final evo in the slightest (as opposed to the goodra line, for example). I think a mon going for a majestic/mysterious look like the redesign makes way more sense coming from dragonair personally, it’s just jarring change being so radically different from regular dragonite
@@plebulusI like it too, Im not saying dragonite isn’t likeable for its goofiness, just that it isn’t strictly necessary. If that quality had never existed in its original design, it wouldn’t feel like it was missing.
@@JacobPDeIiNoNi not all things in a design need to be necessary, but I do really like that aspect, plus this was a redesign of dragonite, not a new evolution for dragonair. So it should still at heart be dragonite
@@plebulus You know, that’s fair. Since it is a redesign I understand wanting it to be closer to the original. I just think that aspect of dragonites design isn’t very important to the line as a whole, which giving dragonair a more fitting evolution seemed to be the main request posed by the comment, a request I think the design fulfilled. However if it were to feel like an actual dragonite re-design rather than its own thing it would need to be closer to the original’s charm and silliness to some extent.
These commenters dont have a creative bone in their bodies "Make dragonite more like dragonair" "Make flareon more like rapidash" "Cyndaquil more like typhlosion" "Remove feature"
Just because something is different doesn’t mean it’s good. Dragonite does look wildly different from its pre evolutions, but that doesn’t make it more creative. If anything it’s way less interesting than dragonair. Wanting an evolution to resemble its line one a fundamental level is a simple criticism but it’s not a bad one. Dragonite barely registers as part of the same line, it’s supposed to look somewhat different because of its origins but there are more elegant ways of doing that (see magikarp and gyarados.) And yes, just adding some fire to an animals body is a really uncreative way to make a fire type. An uncreative way that gamefreak also did multiple times throughout gens 1-2 (moltres, charizard line, typhlosion line). I suppose they all just copied rapidash as well? No. It turns out fire is just a good way of making something more clearly fire type. The cyndaquil and cradily ones are very dumb though I agree. But the others while uncreative have a valid criticism behind them.
@@JacobPDeIiNoNiBut making Flareon's fur literal fire voids one of Flareon's Pokedex entries. So while yes, it's a good way to denote fire types, it's not something to do to every fire type.
@@adoramay9410 I didn't know of that pokedex entry, but I looked it up and that's actually a really cool detail. I never thought that fire was the best way to make a fire type anyway, just pointing out that pokemon does it a bunch so it's weird to get mad at fans for it. But there are certainly better alternatives.
@@JacobPDeIiNoNi That's fair. I'm in no way against using fire in the designs of Pokémon. I just hear that complaint about Pokémon designs all the time and in many cases it would be a stupid design choice. "Ninetales needs fire" or "Flareon needs fire" etc. whereas both would be dumb design choices. But yeah, I get that Pokémon having fire isn't something fans should complain about either. It works sometimes. It's the bipedal vs not bipedal thing all over again, I guess.
@@m4rcyonstation93not really, two were meh(Cosmog and Krookodile), three were terrible(Conkeldurr, Cyndaquil and Cradily) and one makes no sense given it's Pokedex(Flareon).
@@adoramay9410 tbf thats subjective. IMO, cosmog is nice and krookodile is so much better, and flareon is a really neat idea if the dex was redesigned for it. (preferably jolteon too) those three did suck bingle tho
@@m4rcyonstation93 The problem is that we can't go back in time and rewrite Flareon's Pokedex for Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Soul Silver, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, and Violet. So even if Game Freak retconned Flareon in the next game, those old games are still going to cause a continuity error. The only way to make it make sense is to have it be a regional form of Flareon. I really don't like the redesign of Cosmog, and I don't know if I would even notice that change to Krookodile.
These fans, man. That Flareon and Dragonite were brutal. The charm of Flareon is the red fur, which seen next to Vaporeon's blue, and Jolteon's yellow, just looks aesthetically pleasing. Dragonite, is, and I will die on this hill, a million times better as he is, color and all. Never let fans cook.
