Fans React to Marvel's What If Series Premiere: "What If...Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" 

After watching the season finale of Loki, I was immediately more excited for this series, because everything that happens in it can now be canon.

"I feel like they made her stronger than Captain America." Yup. Because Peggy has had years of training and experience in combat while Steve only had probably a few weeks of bootcamp

I saw people on twitter upset that she was so powerful. A)She was a trained agent before the change, much better trained. B)She was in excellent shape before the change. The animation allows you to do fight chorography that's almost to impossible to pull of with todays technology in live action. The serum only makes you better. I love Steve Rogers, but this makes sense. Great editing as always.

The tesseract was powering the stomper suit. That’s how red skull got it back when they captured Steve, in case anyone was wondering. ✌️✌🏿✌🏻

Somebody here made a good point; people initially complained when Captain America came out in the MCU because he seemed "underpowered". In the comics he's capable of throwing a motorcycle with one hand and a lot of other stuff Peggy is doing, but because they aren't used to seeing that in live action it's easy for them to just think Peggy is stronger than Steve

Howard Stark was so lovable in this episode of What If... Its almost kinda morbid him working with the man that gonna eventually kill him in the MCU

14:01 "This show is lit! People really die!" As opposed to all the other times people really died? Also, Steve actually did do a lot of the things Peggy did here albeit over the course of 10 years instead of 1/2 hour. It's a bummer Captain Carter is called a Mary Sue or Captain America is dissed as weaker when it was never a competition in the first place. If anything, this episode was meant to show that they were both worthy of the supersoldier serum and that it was their courage and pure heart that made them such a great duo in both timelines. It's just sad people seem to measure a hero by kill count or how strong their power is.

I don't know if this will be considered the best episode of "What If" in the future, but it's easily the best episode of "Agent Carter".

That airplane scene was fucking awesome. Peggy was out for blood!

It was cool seeing how the hero’s got the tesseract for the suit and hydra ending up using normal bullets the whole time instead of their powered weapons from the movies

captain america has a conscience, he draws the line at killing anyone including enemies, where as captain carter is a soldier first and she knows that with war you will catch a few bodies, so she don't hold back. she's all about the mission....

My brother and I watched this and we loved this episode. My brother and I have loved Peggy since we were kids and were thrilled to see this episode

I like how this went. She was actually a legit choice. Between her being made Captain (Europe? Britain? UK flag so I'm not sure haha) and Carol Danvers being made Captain Marvel, her character was actually very well presented and very convincing even though this is literally ONE episode vs many reboot comics and a few movies for Carol Danvers. Goes to show you what having amazing writers that aren't fucking around can do.

Peggy is a freaking boss! This was a delight! A little silly, but still super cool.

When she was fighting the squid thing with the sword it reminded me of hellboy fighting the squid monster from the movie.

The only problem I have with this episode is that the Tesseract's powers don't allow for time travel only space travel since the Space Stone is within it. So Captain Carter would have been sent to wherever the wormhole was opened that allowed that monster thing to come to the castle instead of being sent 60 years into the future.

I'm such a sucker for watching reactions for this specific show. I actually had goosebumps when I saw the last episode, and watching others having a similar reaction was awesome.

As awesome as Hugo Weaving was as Red Skull I do think Ross Marquand does an awesome job both playing his own interpretation of the character while embodying what Hugo did back in The First Avenger, the traits of the character are deeply rooted in both hatred and obsession with a hint of ego and both actors incapsulated that perfectly imo

Why is everyone surprised by Peggy kicking so much ass?? She was a highly trained operative, so when she got the super solider serum she was going to be more combat efficient as where Steve was in the Army for a few months and was a skinny kid with VERY loose fight skills. As far as Peggy being so powerful that all comes down to forward thinking and assertiveness, How will different types of individuals respond after being given that kind of power and abilities, She could quite easily have been mowed down by machine gun fire on her 1st outing, Each engagement gave her more confidence, Is resulting in more overwhelming physical dominance over any opposition that came up against her. That comes from having a greater sense of your own capabilities once you are given these type of opportunities To express your capability, And Peggy Carter was simply outstanding at it, But it's also a reflection of the attitude we saw her put forward Extending out of the movie and the TV series

I love how the majority of these people up and forget this is the 1940's. a time where only men were sent to the military via conscription or enlistment. There was a lot of progress with giving women more independence but there was still a ways to go. They could work in factories and many of them even were medical personnel but none were allowed to be combatants in the military yet
