I'm in the process of finishing up mine now. This is sheer foolery!!! All the hundreds of hours of writing my dissertation and thousands of articles included in my research that it takes to become an actual Doctor. It's great to give them out (honorary degrees), but they weren't meant to be used as titles, simply as recognition.

Degrees wont be worthless. Jobs will just start screening your credentials more strictly. The amount of money it takes to hire and onboard new employees is too high for employers to not check for whether or not you graduated from an accredited institutions.
If I were to receive an honorary doctorate, there is NO WAY I'd have anybody address me as such. If it were easy, everyone would have one. I respect the hard work and earned title 💯
Well, since you asked…an honorary degree should reserved for geniuses who have made tremendous contributions to society despite lacking the formal training. They have achieved their accomplishments the “hard way.” It is not supposed to be awarded for publicity. It is also supposed to be a way for a university to recognize amazing feats. So, in this case, being an RHOA and owning a franchise type of clothing company does not qualify. I’m so sorry. Summer, fall, early spring??? But, perhaps I’m wrong. Perhaps we all deserve to be doctors. I correct myself. I’m Dr. Crystals Abundance. But, what about all the students who sacrificed years and thousands of dollars? Let’s vote with our electoral college.
@@MsLisalisa24 Neither is Phaedra's Juris Doctorate nor is Phaedra "married" to medicine. However, network executives used this as a reason to add Phaedra to the cast. Therefore, it is not "dumb" to think they wouldn't add Sheree as well.

@@MsLisalisa24 the show is literally called- MARRIED to Medicine. Each cast member was either one of two things: 1. A medical doctor in her own right who was married and living with her husband, or 2. A woman who was married and living with her husband who was a doctor in the medical field. These two rules applied 100% to each cast member for the first nine seasons. Who Phaedra dated is futile; she was brought on (unmarried to medicine) to the show to boost ratings. It is not far-fetched or "dumb" to wonder if Sheree would be cast either.

Why does it have to be called a doctorate though? Why not a degree in community service or humanitarianism or whatever? Anything but doctorate? If anybody around them was in crisis they wouldn't be able to save a life or help with shxt...its a vanity title that needs to go away asap!🤦🏾♀️ Its so unfair to those who put in the time and work and student loan debt 💯💯 Meanwhile most of these celebs can afford to pay for school out of pocket!

I worked hard for 4 years to get my bachelor’s degree, then worked hard for 1 year to get my postgraduate diploma, then worked hard for 2 years to get my masters, then finally worked hard for 5 years to get my PhD! Yet here we are giving honorary doctorates and the title of ‘Dr.’ out to people just like that.

Recipients of an honorary doctorate do not normally adopt the title of “doctor.” In many countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the United States, it is not usual for an honorary doctor to use the formal title of “doctor,” regardless of the background circumstances for the award.

@@Eleazarro Yes, she definitely will be trying that, and you know she will be clowned. I think they give them doctorates to people that they think will draw attention to their institution and that people will help in different ways to help them get monies for the school.
This is absolutely insulting to those of us who spent hours and hours gaining actual doctorate degrees. Or a degree period. It’s a slap in the face to those of us who cried from just being exhausted and burnt out from trying to be greater in the classroom. Take several seats.

LOL not with the glasses! 😂😂😂😂 I don't agree with Honorary Degrees being given to people who have not contributed to that field of study at an exceptional level, because there are many people who went to school and study hard for their Doctorates in Non-medical professions. I have friends who've earned their Doctorate in Education and Social Work and they still don't refer to themselves as Doctor. I try to encourage them to do so, because this can influence younger people who look up to them. What has Sharee really done for the community or the profession she has her honorary degree that succeeds what others have done?
