They are a bit pricey. Imo, I justified spending that amount because it won't lose its value. It'll either go up or stay the same. Everyone's wallet is different, of course.
X-transbots isn't making them anytime soon as they have other plans for the foreseeable future. I've personally attempted to urge Keith to do them, but no. Or not yet, at least.
I agree, and the same thing can be said about so many other expensive hobbies. I haven't had a single Transformers toy since the mid-2000s, and even though I'm currently interested in getting some figures, I do not want to start a collection. I don't have the space for a collection, and I'd rather spend my money on PC upgrades. However, I have decided to get at least 1 standalone figure that has multiple modes and can also combine with another figure.
Robert said the feet of Menasaur are sticking out at the back. Those are the toy shoulder combiner add on pieces. They don’t need to be on the trailer, the picture you guys were looking at was the “look you can store all the accessories on it” picture. Without them on, the trailer looks very clean on all sides.
This is exactly the reason I never went in on a FansToys combiner. It's interesting to watch people who have been such supporters of FansToys, eschewing all other figures as inferior ("I'll wait for FansToys") and justifying every new rung of price increases as "inflation", now starting to realise what happens when they put all their faith in a single company.

Prediction: These unnecessary base modes are being made for use with Trypticon / Metroplex and Scorponok / Fortress Maximus in city mode, but we’re more than 5 years from realizing that goal.
Parts forming is more than acceptable for Devesator, the G1 toy the pieces tirned into vehicle weapons and i dont think anyone would be sad if they still did.
I'm all for partsforming in general with combiners. Every time companies have avoided partsforming with them it has compromised the end-product in some way. With Moon Studio/Zeta Raiden it was overly complex transformations and reduced stability compared to their other combiners. With MMC it's their reduced scale making them Incompatible with all other MP scale combiners. It's not worth it. I really don't care about partsforming pieces if it ends up giving me a better combiner in the end.
For me I much prefer XTB's first release for the Constructicons than the FT one. Big Load articulates incredibly well, is generally clean and looks good in both bot and vehicle mode. Plus the transformation is... shockingly... Not the usual XTB chore. Based on that figure and the price, I'm pretty much all in on the XTB Constructicons.
I bought both. I wasn't sure about XTB but the pics looked really good and I jumped on board once they showed off the toy deco. I kept both because Fans Toys will usually have the better quality. I'm going to keep XTB in bot and while I'm second guessing myself on FT, I'm probably going to keep it as it'll be the toon look Devastator I want.
@@saysoun752 Yeah FT really do nail quality feel in their bots, and I do like the look of the leg mode for Gehry. My biggest problem is with what I've seen of Wright (Scavenger), the fake flat bit of plastic that represents the tracks in arm mode looks awful, and something that looks like a deal breaker for me. I think I'm in the camp of toon inspired rather than full toon accuracy, look I grew up watching the show when it came out in the 80's and loved it, but lets be honest, some of the animation is a bit ass. They had to greatly simplify things because of time and money, I can fully appreciate that they had to do that. But I think that trying to fully replicate that toon design slavishly is a huuuugge mistake. But hey that's just my opinion on it.
@xenophon1999 correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you are talking about the track peice when the arms are in combined mode. How it has those fake looking track covers. If so, im totally in agreement with you. Hopefully that not the final production look.
@@YasapYaakov018 Yeah that's right, because his legs (the tracks) form the core of his forearm they need a fake one to fill in on the shoulder joint. From all the angles that I've seen it from it looks really bad, I wish it didn't! I would love to be in on this for the combined mode, but for how much it will eventually cost I expect better of FT.

I was one of the few people who didn’t have the air raid issue! The wing kibble is held together solidly….but I’d had it in combined mode for 7-8 months prior to having to combine them. I hope they have paid attention to the hip stability issues for future combiners.

If you mean the fan transformation where the upper thin pieces of ariraid is flipped over and tabs into the tip of the main wing there is aarge chance of breaking the fusalage part. Its not really meant to do that. Also, I think bobby is talking about the rear stabilizer wings that dont fit on the tab without shaving the tab a touch all copieshad that issue.@@collectorsalmanac
I don't see an all-in-one method being used. The connections to the arms/legs not being dedicated parts requires compromises with stability and they make these things too heavy to screw around with that.
Legacy Menasor is way better than the one made by FT, not to mention that it's significantly cheaper. It's far from perfect, but I think that the exclusive gift set is a tidy deal, especially if you can't get a hold of the individual Stunticons.
My Zeta looks good, but is only good if I don't touch it or a slight breeze doesn't go by. The shins in my leg bots have given out twice, resulting in fairly traumatic shelf dives, and the arms unplug all over when trying to pose them. it is now on a bottom shelf because I don't trust it higher, and i can't even them in all mode due to breakages from falls. FTs may be a bit over priced but it is so much better at pretty much anything the zeta offers me.
Ft cost is simply the sum of the individual parts which is correct! A lot of people have not mentioned that if they didn’t combine at all, that’s the same price they would cost anyway. The only extra cost you are paying is for the combiner parts so it’s about $150 to $200 extra cost and they did force this on everyone by including the parts with the fifth plane.
This is with years under the Zeta one though, no? The FansToys one is fresh out of the box so I'm curious how it holds up on a shelf a few years from now or if it might degenerate over time like so many combiners do.
This! It's the least study combiner I've ever owned and I regret it more than any other purchase. It fell over once and snapped a part. Currently the Silverbolt has fallen out of the torso frame and it doesn't look any different so I haven't bothered fixing it. I think I'll keep them in alt mode going forward. FT looks okay but not for that price, so frustrating Zeta it remains for my collection.
Holy cow, I didn't even know the FT Menasor had a base mode. That looks like a ridiculous amount of engineering for a mode that's somehow uglier than the XTransbots base mode. That's where some of our $300 is going to. Also, was that an F Bomb from Uncle Bobby at 11:00? lol
Finally a honest review. FT combiners look (and they are) awful although I constantly read how excellent they are. On the other side, companies like Dreamstar Toys are making huge improvements in their quality, the comparison between FT and DST Scrapper is harsh.
The MP fans are one one of the reasons I got out of collecting MP. Along with space and price as othe considerations. Too many MP fans seem to demand ultra toon accuracy, scale. premium paint/perfect paint aps, no gaps, no kibble, all modes being toon accurate, intuitive transformations, quality hardware, high-grade plastic, premium action figure levels of articulation, quick production to shelf creation schedules, and at as low of a cost as they can get it. Honestly, for some of these cartoon characters, that seems like an impossible task to fill. The old 80s toys were super rudimentary. These toys are 100 times better and we're never even remotely designed to be as good as what you are getting for collecting now. Even Takara who created the MP line, gave up because many of the fanbase are whiny perfectionists and they simply cannot turn real metal, paint and plastic into a perfect articulated and transformable to perfectly mirror 40 year old rudimentary illustrated robots that turn into multiple other things. So they have now left it to these small 3rd party companies to deal with the collector Karens. As for Fanstoys Superion, like it or not, it is the new gold standard collectible toy for that combiner. No one else has even come close to making all three modes as close to the cartoon as they have. For me, the price just wasn't worth it but even I acknowledge that the 7 years they took created a product light years better than anyone else has made and probably will make. If that's not good enough, I guess hold out hope and wait for x-transbots or some other company to come to the rescue in the future and hope inflation doesn't end up making it even more expensive than Ethereon.
The expectation of perfection is definitely ridiculous, it's like some kind of OCD. I'm so glad I'm not a collector and I've got no interest in getting a single MP figure. I think CHUGs are much more true to what Transformers was intended to be. Instead of MP, where you have a bunch of nerds wanting an exact toy replication of what they've seen in ONE era of Transformers.
Agreed with you and robert ...am worried that fanstoys has a monopoly. I was banking on fans toys being my bot mode for the constructicons however i have to look elsewhere. I may go to mmc depending on how theirs looks. I wish zeta would continue and pump out the rest of the combiners. Great video and discussion!
I really like the all in one stuff from MMC, but I got the first 3 aerialbots already from FT, so I just bought the rest, to have a nice looking superion (in my humblest opinion). FT bots feel good but not good enough for me anymore to pay the price they ask. So probably this is going to be my last FT stuff I will buy. Unless I can find it cheap somewhere..
I agree that for the time and price it should have been better. They are the best but it's not only that, every time I complain about a FT price point, lack of articulation, time between releases, etc, the FT blind fans will demand that I stop complaining. Fans Toys aren't doing us a favor, there's no FT without our money, the fans need to realize that asap.
Bobby never said it's all in one, but rather that they've adopted some all in plus partsforming likely due to MMC (which I object to since MMC isn't even in direct competition with the FansToys) I think it's just due to the nature of devastator and won't likely be seen in any future combiners.
@@ericpoulin7922 Bobby clearly stated that he thinks Fanstoys have gone for an all in one design to compete with MMC as it was a fact and then went on to criticise them for having combiner parts even though we haven’t seen the final figure.
I truly believe the wait was due to Fanstoys knowing that if they wait the sales of zeta dx9 and xtb to stop /slow down they could make more in the future without the competition and they can get out other figures that sell great in the meantime. It just makes sense from a business perspective. Those that want the best are willing to wait.
If you're talking about MMC combiners, I don't really care if they are great feats of engineering if that engineering doesn't end up delivering a better end product. The main objective for me is I want bots that look as good as possible (including articulation for good poses), that can transform in a way that isn't frustrating, and scale together reasonably well. The main downfall of the MMC is compromised individual bot forms (some of them look fine, but Brawl for example does not - still better than the Zeta, but not a great looking figure) and a reduced height, making them incompatible with all other MP scale combiners. The main other all-inclusive combiner, Moon Studios Raiden, has a frustrating transformation and compromised stability. It looks great once combined, but getting there is a journey and a half and once you get there your posing options are very limited compared to Zeta's other combiners, or DX-9's Menasor. Innovative engineering is nice to have, but only if it serves the end product. And in every combiner that has eschewed partsforming I've been disappointed with the end product.
@JaceyMitchell @JaceyMitchell while I understand and even agree with you to a certain extent. I think that MMC's accuracy to the Bots has gotten much better. It wasn't great with their Bruticus, but with their new Defensor it is better than ever. So far Defensor is the most accurate looking of all of their combiners. For the scale comment I will say I agree with you, MMC's figures always lean on the small side (unless your name is MMC Springer who is as tall as MS-02EX Prime) but I can overlook. The thing is I haven't been disappointed with the product for those combiners. That is something I look for in Masterpiece scaled combiners now. I see that it is a possibility that we can have these and I don't think there is any other way. Even with the individual Bots I haven't been disappointed, MMC has made the new Bots for Defensor a lot more accurate and a lot more poseable. And that is what translates into a good product for me. It can look as accurate as possible, but if the journey to get to that accuracy is not a fun one (which often times Fanstoys is not a fun one) and then there is a more fun journey that still looks good. I'll pick that one every time.
I would have given FansToys kudos for being brave enough to release these as individual robots that DON'T combine. Imagine how good the Stunticons / Aerialbots could have been without the parts forming or additional engineering. If you want a combiner, go Zeta or Maketoys. We already have non-transforming figures of high quality, so these could have been perfect AND stood out from the crowd if they were just another set of bots, minus the combiner gimmick
Combiners need to combine. A frame would've been fine to me. I do like the options though. I also like the gimmicks since I don't care about displaying my pieces I just like to flip them around and pose them transform them
This all comes down to narcissism. FT is more concerned with attacking and destroying other designers than they are with making the best product that they can. It's pathetic, and I own every single FT figure.
That's just sad, and it's honestly a good reason why I probably won't ever buy any of their figures. Price isn't an issue, as I've paid a lot more for less impressive stuff, but I don't like companies with anti-competitive attitude.
Was it ever confirmed that the Aerialbots and Stunticons designers left Fanstoys? If so then it makes sense to me why we are seeing differences. This Devastator may be the best that this design team can accomplish. It also makes sense why my new Scrapper doesn't feel as clean when I put him on a shelf with other Fanstoys.
I'd rather FT focused on the bot/alt modes. I'm happy with the Zeta/Toyworld combiners I have now. Not sure where the hold up is, but I wish Zeta would do the other combiners, and use other companies for bot/alt display. The very key thing, is there is NO way the price difference for combined mode is even close to what Fantoys is offering. They flat out don't compete at a price point that is 3x higher but not anything better. For me that leaves me with do I want them as my bot/alt mode sets? I mean I could pick up 2 more Zeta sets for bot/alt mode and have money left over. Fortunately for them I am willing for the moment to drop a bit more money where I do see a better product for bot/alt mode... at the sacrifice of displaying one or the other. Something I am HEAVILY debating on with their Constucticons. I've yet to make that decision, and likely will not until I see the full line up of the various companies putting them out. Certainly don't feel they are putting out a product worth the price they are listing it at.
@StardustLegacyFighter That is a great question. I'd say their combiners are, due to them being great in 1/2 Of the 3 modes, yet they are pricing them as if all 3 modes are spectacular. Such as missing a waist swivel, or crappy looking alt mode. Otherwise I'd say the vast majority or their other bots are well worth the $.
I don't think this is a good example of what happens when there's no competition, because like you guys said, Zeta already set a decent standard, and the only reason people were willing to invest into Fanstoys before they had anything more than some renders to show is because they have this inflated reputation and a bunch of loyalists who will always buy their products. I'm alright with that- I'll go ahead and buy their competition for the most part, Fanstoys gives them someone to point to and say "hey look, we're selling roughly the same thing for way cheaper". Even when Fanstoys is better they are not 2x, 3x, even 4x the price better. If we're going to be talking "no competition" I would actually more be pointing to a lot of Season 3 and onwards bots that basically no company is doing, or the ones that exist are really old and of questionable quality like the Throttlebots or Junior Headmasters. Or even Beast Wars, TransArt's stuff is of shaky quality but they actually are the only option for anyone who wants Transmetal Beast Wars guys.
For the time it took and the price they charged, FT Superion should have been way, way better than just a sidegrade. This is Fanstoys, who are arguably the peak of 3rd party companies, and the best they can manage is a slightly prettier but vastly more expensive version of the Zeta combiner, complete with kibble and partsforming? It's just not good enough for the money. Also, I put the unnecessary flight stand modes on the same level as XTB's Menasor base mode: A complete waste of time and parts.
Going forwards partsforming pieces will transform since these are transformers. (Zeta did it too with all except superion FYI). It's no surprise and I like base modes since they're fun. Just buy a statue if that's what you want for your display. There are plenty of options available.
"Nobody wants a base mode" Well, I'd like to have a base mode. Your arguments make no sense. All you want is one single mode, so you don't need it to transform at all. A single, one piece Superion figure should make you happy.
One of the ironies of these insane $1000+ combiners (and just overpriced Transformers toys in general) is that because of their cost, a bunch of people become hesitant to ever transform, pose, or even touch them, and they might as well have bought a statue.
This one hundred 💯 %. I like base modes and apparently they claim I don't. I buy these figures too. I know he is making an assumption that most don't want it but it comes from his group of friends not everyone everywhere. So instead of saying a base mode no-one wants or asked for he should say that he and his friends didn't ask for.
Fans Toys Devastator-wise I think you guys are being way too critical on scrapper. I think he looks fantastic in all modes and I think FT did a really good job. However regarding the other 2 combiners I completely agree. Good video
Dev isnt and all in one. Its Partsforming. Dont know where the "All in One" thing came from. You're going to get additional parts that are NOT part of the Transformers. Scavenger has the whole Forearm thats a seperate part with the hand thats not stored on the robot at all. I dont see Hook having the combiner chest sheild as part of him, or the Legs/Hips as part of Long Haul. I think youve seen Scrapper with the Included part which can be STORED on his back and went "Oh its all in one" without even looking at anything else from Scavenger.
If you look carefully at scavengers forearm you can see the alt mode tracks (his legs) folded up inside some kind of black casing. It seems to me that only the hand is parts forming, which I think is pretty cool. Almost an all-in-one. I’m confident in their ability to do something similar with the left arm and I just hope they make the right decisions for the body.

The Aerialbots and Stunticons are great individual bots... those Constructicons look like ass, no two ways about it. And I'll be keeping Constructor for Devastator, I just don't know what Fanstoys is smoking on these ugly ass bots man. Hyper toon Urkel Devy also definitely NOT for me, but at least it should be good for that if that's your cup of tea. But individuals? No freaking way.
I have the full set of FT for bot mode, Zeta for combined. After seeing the FT reviews i've not had ANY interest in combining FT, even for the fun of it. Because it doesn't look fun to do and it's not replacing my Zeta. So why bother *shrug*
After getting FT superion, I wish they sold the combiner parts separately. If Zeta MP bots would have been a more like their mini bots, I would have had no interest in FT version. Unfortunately, FT is the only company that gave us the bots that look almost 100% like the cartoon. So now I'm stuck with a torso, I have no use for because I have Zeta (king of combiners) for combined mode and FT for individuals. Example, I also have DX9 for menasor, and only wanted FT for thier bot modes. Thank the matrix, DX9, and FT scale with each other and looks very similar. So i don't have to purchase combiner parts for dead-end. Just got an extra DX9 version and my goal is complete. Then there is price, DX9 did a very good job on thier combiner for a more reasonable price point. I just can't justify FT combiners. Not at the price they are asking. Luckily for the constructicons the price is reasonable, but who's to say 3 to 4 figures in, they don't start charging 220-240 for the last few bots and then the last one 420-480 because it comes with combiner parts? It just seems more like a company that's not taking their fan base into consideration.
Dx9 looks bad in my opinion and the lack of paint on combiner mode makes it look cheap. The facesculpts are also terrible. And the alt mode for Motormaster is horrid. It's worse than gehry's alt mode. His bots not much better either. Fanstoys has all there combiners roughly the same height axceptthe stunticons since they are supposed to be smaller
@ericpoulin7922 interesting take, I personally think all the figures are done fairly well. Except for the paint applications. But overall, the stability, articulation, and overall playability by far is number 1 compared to FT and XTB hands down. I guess it's just what preference people want, because I like the paint apps on XTB and FT, and think that is far better than DX9.
I generally like all of your vids bobby. But this seems a bit out of place. And roberts complaining was over the top. We all knew what we were getting we all knew there are base modes for all these combiners except zeta superion (toyworld constructor and zeta bruticon had base modes). All the moaning and groaning sure you are entitled to voice your opinions but it comes across as whiny (may not be the intention but is how it comes across). Put your money on the style you like and let the rest of us enjoy what Fanstoys is doing. I personally think XTB is for those who like real world with toon aspects and Fanstoys and Takara are doing the toon in all modes with the heroic proportions on bot and chibi toon alt. MMC sit in their own category with all their combiners matching aesthetics.

FT are simply trying to do too much with the combiner torsos. For Superion it was making the torso transform to be flight stands. That causes the shoulder issue. For Menasor it will be the torso transforming from a trailer AND a city base rather than focusing on what it should be, just a torso. They are trying to do too much, that's causing the needless compromises.
No the combiner turning into a flight stand did NOT cause the shoulder issue. It due to the shoulder moving at the torso rather than the arm bots. Take zeta the shoulder moves inside the peg at Fireflight and Slingshot.

What people are missing with FT's Scrapper is his arms do not have the alt mode wheels like the other companies do. For how big the wheels are, to be hidden in bot mode, is like a form of mass shifting. I think it looks great in all modes. That add on piece does blow though.
A small price to pay. It’ll just stay in the box like all the other accessories that come with all the other bots until they release them all and we find out if this was another huge waste of time and money. Hopefully not…

As much as we need a proper Windcharger, I love combiners and it is also a money grab from a business standpoint since if you sell the one you're likely to sell the rest.
Spot on. They took five whole years with countless delays, all with zero communication with their customers leaving many guessing if they'd abandoned the project altogether, and somehow they deserve praise just for actually doing their job and finishing it? No Bobby, they do not.
5 years isn't really that long FYI. That's only a bot a year. But it's that they put out 3 right away and went silent for 3-4 years without updates. XTB is going on 6 years for defensor.
