Those that want to retain the status quo also have a strategy and it is not beyond them to try and make it so no that election can safely occur or be monitored by international bodies, one way is to make it too unsafe. I do remember during lock down thousands entering the country's porous borders and trying to head South into southern forests in the SW and SE while others were in lock down and not allowed to travel.
