Prince would have loved this trilogy in general-Alien Superstar, Pure/Honey, American Requiem, Bodyguard, and Ya Ya are all songs I can imagine him enjoying.
They must be younger, I know when I was younger I couldn't vibe to certain songs even though they were objectively very well done. This album is a whole sonic masterpiece and innovative in it's composition, the lady might actually singlehandedly bringing about the musical renaissance, but I guess that's Beyonce for ya, making and meeting expectations no once else even knew made sense lol. Her multi genre mastery from pop through her entire career to this truly reminds me of Prince honestly.
I've literally never seen Anthony this excited for anything else he's heard. And I can't say I blame him or disagree. This album has me in a chokehold. Like, I'm still in shock since listening for it the first time yesterday - and I'm neither a Beyoncé fan nor a country music fan. This album made me feel some deep emotions I haven't connected to in a long time. I'm in awe!! AOTY why she ain't win?!
@Noirlore I didn't say I've never listened to country before, I just said I'm not really a country fan. Like, I just didn't actively seek it out because I haven't connected with it so far without really sitting down and listening to stuff. And from what's popular and on the charts, nothing jumped out at me like that before this, but I'm happy to check out some stuff. So, if you have any recommendations, please feel free to share :)
@@davidmorris8319Songs: Ohia, John Prine, Loretta Lynn, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Wanda Jackson, Sturgill Simpson, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash and Gram Parsons are all good places to start. If you like less traditional country I’d go with John Prine, Townes van Zandt, and Songs: Ohia (the latter is more alt-country)
Not a huge fan of Beyonce's music, just personal preference, but this is a level of artistry blended with commercial mastery that I can't help but deeply appreciate. Hope this one does numbers.
What the fuck are y’all talking about? Genuinely? Is there something I’m just missing here? I got like halfway through the album and was like “aight that’s enough, shits boring and just mid all around”. There something about Beyoncé that has weird ass people fully brainwashed.
This is AOTY territory. So many beautiful songs, many of the songs are entire journeys themselves. A particular favorite of mine is ll hands ll heaven, kinda in the same psychedelic gospel vein of American requiem.
@@mishavelado i didn't say it was a country album. she still belittled a culture. same way drake did with the bad bunny song last year. it's common. beyonces album isnt even bad i just cant listen to someody make a whole album around something they truly dont care about.
she seems very out of touch in every interview and also she’s clearly still obsessed with that hemsworth even tho she treated him horribly and was prob the one to end things. there i got u covered with the negativity
Baddest song on the album, yayayayaya not exactly mastering lyricsism. Some 10 songsI honestly enjoy made it into my CC playlist. Lot of fillers sadly. I dont understand. A long album is not the same as a coherent album.
@MichaelBrandon-8585it wasn't a full house/electronic album tho. I liked it sonically either way but the self-confiding topics of the tracks just did not click with me, but production was amazing.
Ngl Beyonce turned me from a hater to a fan with Renaissance and now Cowboy Carter. What a run. Both albums are so indulgent in their own individual genres but they pair so well together. Cant wait for Act 3
@@Doc_Jello I just didnt like her music. Too close to other hip hop and pop artists of the era. Then........Renaissance popped up and I had most of the album on replay for several months. Now, with Cowboy Carter pretty much kicking ass from beginning to end, I'm a certified Queen B Simp For background, my top 10 fav artists in no specific order are The Weeknd, Lord Huron, Caro Emerald, Woodkid, Kendrick, old Kanye, Tennis, Elvis, Jungle and Bruno Mars
it just makes sense, the whole project is reclaiming historically Black music genres that have since started excluding Black artists and/or become dominated by White artists, Disco, Country, Rock
I'm late, but ill just say... listening to this album out of sequence is a disservice. The way she does her transitions, its almost seamless...and this album also transitions into Renaissance flawlessly.
his audience is primarily teenage poser boys who claim to know 'good' music just because the artists they listen to has less than 1000 monthly listeners
@@kanyasmr that’s fine but telling other people enjoying it they glazing too much is idiotic 💀. I didn’t even give my opinion for you to give yours either
I don’t like country, but this album is a masterpiece!! As she said, it’s not a country album, it’s a Beyoncé’s album. My fav Beyoncé’s album 100%! I hope she finally gets Grammy’s AOTY, not that blonde unsalted girl.
Was agreeing with everything you said until “blonde unsalted girl”.. No need to put others down to bring others up! While I completely agreed Renaissance was snubbed in 2022 (and bey was snubbed lots more), there’s no need for hate.
Taylor Swift is by NO means “unsalted”. Beyoncé IS AND HAS been snubbed (by standards). Taylor Swift is highly talented. Beyoncé is as well and this album right here is AOTY for sure
so happy to see fantano as gobsmacked by this album as i was haha. im already a huge bey stan & have been for years so i knew she would nail this- especially after hearing daddy's lessons from lemonade- yet im still blown away by how hard she fucking did. it's insane that people call this woman overrated. at this point im convinced anybody who says that hasn't actually given her full discography a deep rinse. probably just heard single ladies or halo or one of those mid hit songs that don't fully show the extent of her insane musical, creative, artistic range.
She is the very definition of overrated. Like I genuinely can’t think of a single more overrated artist on earth. And no, I am absolutely not going to give her full discography a “full rinse”. I listened to enough of this album to get the idea. It’s just mid as shit.
Legit, this is better than Renaissance to me! From Ameriican Requiem to Amen, this whole album is my favorite of the year so far! And just seeing how Fantano was having a fun time as well made my day. I can't wait for the review!
Beyoncé is the king of all music. There isn’t a genre she isn’t the top of or couldn’t be at the top of if she wanted. On top of that as a live performer there is no one in her league. Sure there may be vocalists like jazmine Sullivan who on a technical level may be more talented but as a whole package there is no one that can compare to Beyoncé. The longevity of her career is astonishing.
@@alexpunsalan5786 Why ? Fantano is clearly biased here. He would genuinely tell you that this album (which i’ve listened to from beginning to end) is better than MBDTf, and that is nothing but disrespect.
if this is how he reacts to the songs out of context in an album SO deliberately crafted to flow and tell a story...............the review is gonna be a 10
@@yoncedelreyngl y’all act like 8 isn’t positive, just cause the album isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it ain’t great. It’s not fantanos fault she puts skips on her albums.
@@yoncedelrey that’s cool but I think you and the rest of the fans need to be fine with the fact he might not give her a 10 for this, not just because an 8 or 9 is still great but because it’s also just his opinion and there’s also a lot of other critics who would give it a 10.
@@nevadanate4957 I think you’re confused 💀 obviously he thinks they’re great, the rest of us just think he’s being stingy with the 8’s when they deserve higher. Exercise reading comprehension skills next time
This album is ridiculously good. From 1 listen through I think I counted like 10 different genres of music blended together. It's a treat for the ears and mind.
I cant stop listening. I said this on the renaissance video and some nerd tried it with me so here it goes again. Beyoncé has no competition. Shes eclipsed her contemporaries and these new babies coming up can only dream
Nope. His editors are Jeremy and Austen, who have always remained behind the scenes. His male co-host, Giggens, has been the permanent co-host of New Music Fridays for about a month now. They're old college buddies and used to do college radio together before theneedledrop was founded. You can find him on YT as Giggens, where he does his own reviews. They're starting to try out bringing guest co-hosts on as well. This week's was Emma, who does short-form music content on TT as "epotty_"
