Thanks for sharing such an unknown airline. It is always nice to discover hidden gems in the airline world. Giving you the opportunity to use the VIP terminal for the night only speaks of how customer oriented they are. Bravo Air Astana! Keep them coming, Josh!

2:28 In 2004 a new terminal was built on the place of a previous main terminal that got destroyed in a large fire. The historic terminal was one of the few parts of the airport that survived that fire in 1999.

The best memory of this Airline (I fly for times a year with Air Astana) was in January in Nur-Sultan (older Astana) when we had a strong blizzard and no aircrafts could fly. The Airline took us to a 5 stars hotel in the city for 2 days and all was best organized! We hadn't big problems at the airport and shouldn't wait a long time! And all this was in economy class!!!

They shouldn't demolish that terminal. They should incorporate it into the extended terminal.

Looks really good. European airlines seriously need to "up their game" when it comes to their business class product as it really is crap at the moment. You are basically only paying for lounge access and fast track security. Such a shame that that VIP Terminal will soon be no more. The architecture looks beautiful and it seems really well-kept.

These former Soviet airlines are on par with most of the best airlines in the world, if not better... A good choice for passengers demanding satisfying flight experience.

I have flown Air Astana from/to Frankfurt. As you said, nice planes and a lovely crew. This doesn't surprise me as everyone I encountered on an extended business trip in Kazakhstan a few years ago was exceptionally kind and hospitable, and all service workers were well-trained and professional.

For such a small airline, Air Astana are miles above many other major international airlines, better, service, amenity kits, catering, safety, crew and comfort. In the Skytrax Covid Safety Awards in 2021, they achieved 5 stars, British Airways scored 3.5. They were also voted best airline in Central Asia in 2021. Business Class with British Airways domestic or European means an Economy seat of no more then 30 inch seat pitch, same as Ryanair, its a joke. Air Astana offer another 7 inches, and we know that 7 inches can make such a difference 😆 Crew are wonderful, enthusiastic and love their job.

I fly every year with Air Astana from Frankfurt to Kazakhstan with a stop Nur-Sultan(oder Astana) and than to Öskemen or Semey!

Did you use some time in Almaty? I hope you did because it is one of the most beatiful city in the world. Just think about the mountainview in Almaty. I really hope you did spend some time there before your trip to Tashkent.

Maybe a good idea not to imitate the engines on take off.....you ran out of "puff" way too fast !🤣 As soon as you mentioned the Russian built VIP terminal, I immediately thought of Bald and Bankrupt 🤪 I reckon you should let him know the terminal is closing. So he can " check it out " for Russian mosaics ! Great to see it's a comfy plane, and the airline looked after you while in transit 👍

Air Astana, do better. I flew a couple of times with Air Astana. Business Class was excellent but Economy was horrible. During my transit flight to India, a SUPERVISOR Cabin Crew told me that "She doesn't need to help me" when I asked for the embarkation card. They skipped my son and I. Gave it to the white looking people in lanes on my side, front and back. I didn't even ask for our meals. So I don't even ask for the services I paid for 2, only the embarkation cards. I snapped at that snarky remark and the supervisor threatened to call the airport police then just walked away while I was talking. Lady, it is literally your job to assist people on board. Everyone, equally. I was ignored, threatened then snubbed by a supervisor. Ofcourse when I started recording, she denied that she will call the police. My son heard her. No police was called and she apologized. The gaslighting though. I remember every word said to me as it was literally my job to make people accountable for what was said between tech teams. I was great at it hence I retired early and travel the world full-time. I didn't ask for special service. I simply asked to be treated the same way as people around me. Is this how Air Astana threats Economy class passengers? Never had issues getting assistance in Business. Is it because my son looked Indian? My hair colour? Maybe I am just not used to rude behaviour and this is common. I don't know. But when you tell a customer that you don't have to help them and you are in customer service, you need another job. I flew with SCAT Airlines in economy and never had a bad experience. Surprisingly, I thought that a budget airline will be bad. Nop. There were few more things that happened in this flight that I let slide before I had enough. I travelled to over 100 countries and this is the first time I felt deliberately treated like a second class human being by an airline. I won't be back in Central Asia since we pretty much visited every city. This was hell of a last day dealing with Central Asia. My son is presenting a project about Central Asia to his classmates from all over the world. This left a bad taste of Kazakhstan for us.
