We've met these German Overlanders near Phoenix, Arizona recently and they've kindly allowed us to take a closer look, get a tour and answered some questions about this extraordinary expedition vehicle. They even kindly shared some scenic photos and video footage from their travels.

My only concern with the expedition vehicle is the lack of a crawl space for easy access to the driving compartment. Huge security risk IMO. Just imagine if you're in a hurry to leave after being woken up by a grizzly outside... yikes.

I've seen quite a few of these trucks, this one is possibly the best in terms of design/layout/style. I can see the owners are tidy and the truck is well looked after.

I have pictures of this truck parked in my parents driveway, in southern Ontario! They are such nice people. My dad is a firefighter in Niagara Falls and met them at work, and offered for them to park at their place out of the way of the noise and craziness while they checked out southern Ontario. It’s a mightly small world we live in

Totally custom made and very very expensive... google expedition vehicle manufacturers and you'll find some... ;)

Here's one company in Germany that makes vehicles like that: www.unicat.net/ They usually don't even advertise prices, because at that level if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it... ;)

Unfortunately I don't... it's pretty short though for such a large vehicle, which probably helps with the off-road clearances.

With duallies when off-roading, rocks can wedge between the tires and damage them or even tear them apart quickly...

👍🏻 Geniales Teil, Hammer 👍🏻, da können die Amis mit ihrem billigen Plastikgelumpe dagegen einpacken. 😜 Wir hatten in Kanada ein 3 Jahre altes Ami-Ford-Wohnmobil gemietet, bei dem es gleich zu mehreren geschlossenen Dachfenstern reinregnete... 😂

Search on RU-vid and Google for "Expedition vehicle"... there are quite a few out there, most are unique builds... I have another video from a couple who built their own on the cheap, by fitting a travel trailer shell onto a used dump truck. Of course that's not even close to in the same ballpark, but it shows options... on the low budget end, a 1 ton 4x4 truck with single rear wheels and a lightweight truck camper could get most of the functionality of an expedition vehicle, but maybe not quite the luxury of course... ;)
