Jill, Thank You So Much for your time and effort you are putting into teaching all of us that so need your advice!! Reading all of these, we all seem to be in the same boat. I myself, have never had an opportunity for local card making classes. They just don’t exist where I live. So, from the Bottom of My Heart, Thank You 🙏❣️❣️
This is such a good video. In my humble opinion all the tips and techniques you’ve shown here should be taught in basic stamping classes or if you are in a position to mentor another young stamper who is interested in this hobby. I absolutely love the red rubber large stamps from Penny Black. You get a good clean impression the first time. And the sentiments… I reach for mine all the time - they’re classic and timeless, and as you said Jill, the fonts are beautiful. When I’m finished with a card a feel it’s as nice as any stationary card you can find in the store - and it’s one of a kind! Thanks so much for sharing you skill and talent, Jill!
EXCELLENT video! The finishing touches are what makes our cards special and unique! It's just sometimes you know that card needs a little more...but what? Love those border dies...seriously a special touch! Thank you...
Thank you for your demonstrations. I’m new to your channel and I’ve learned so much ie, it’s ok to use bold colors and not just white and soft pastels. 🌷
Thanks for this series! I appreciate all the tips and the effort you put into creating these beautiful cards. Love it when a well-used old favorite of mine(stamp or die) shows up in the video as a well-used favorite of yours! ❤
This video session really helped me to think out how to approach a card making session much differently. A lot of wonderful products rarely get used because of creative fatigue. Thanks for the new ideas in crafting preparation.
You are such an inspiration Jill! Your cards are so beautiful. My Penny Black stamps are my absolute favourites, and you and Mimi my go to card makers. ♥️🇨🇦🌸
Jill, what is the size of the Rows of Stitches die cut? I thought it was 7" or more to use on a 5 x 7 card, but I looked it up somewhere and it said it was only 5" long. So I guess your cards were just the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4? Not 5 x 7?
Thanks for watching. Other than the square cards, these are standard A2-sized cards (4.25 x 5.5 inches) the size of the Rows of Stitches die is 5.7"x0.9". Happy creating!
Jill. I bought two of these stamps that will arrive today. However, you don't mention what type of paper you use. I assume it's watercolor, but what weight? what press? Do you always use 140 lb watercolor? Are these with hot press which is smoother? I can't understand how you can stamp words on watercolor paper and have it come out smooth? Please advise.
Hi Mary- Thanks for your purchase! I typically stamp on Canson 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper. I use the MISTI stamp positioning tool to get a good impression with images and sentiments on the texture of the watercolor paper. But, for these cards I painted very lightly (not very wet watercolor) with very little blending, just a swipe of the color and no more onto Neenah solar white cardstock. This is not typical for me, though, as sometimes the paper will not handle the water well. You can definitely use Hot Press paper if you want something smoother that will also handle layers of water and the wetness of paint. With practice, you will find what you like best. Have fun! :)
Ok Jill. I just watched this again, and you said you used smooth paper, not watercolor. And you didn't use water since it's not watercolor paper. But, you didn't show us how you colored it. Do you have a video I can see how you colored these? Since I bought two of the stamps (the one with the pink flowers with the torn edge and the words behind it, and the other white flowers that look like Lily of the Valley maybe or I'm not sure, but it had a die cut on the right side). I want to color these when they arrive today. Did you use ink with paint brush? How did you get the shading without using water? Thx.
Hi Mary, the focus of this video was not on painting, but rather finishing touches one can add to their cards which have been stamped colored however they prefer. But any of the videos where I demonstrate painting can be applied to the stamps you've purchased. Don't be afraid to stamp and play and find what works for you! Also, I've replied to your other specific questions about painting techniques on other videos. Wishing you happy painting when your stamps arrive! :)
I’m so inspired by these videos!! At approximately 5:57 there is a die used that I can’t find the name of? It’s to the side of the flower stamp and colored in red?
Thank you! It is from the Vintage Touch set of dies, you can see them here: shop.pennyblackinc.com/products/productdetail/part_number=51-730/4381.0.1.1.2268.0.0.0.0 Happy stamping! :)
I love to embellish with pearls and jewels but they take beating when the card goes through the mail. How do you mail your cards with those items and keep them looking good?
Thanks, Kimberly. I haven't had any issues with the pearls in the mail, but perhaps try something a little bit smaller, like Liquid Pearls (if you have the patience to wait for them to dry). Happy stamping! :)
