I raced and worked on the original Skip Barber Racing School car, which was a Crossle 35. Then they had their own car made by Leslie Drysdale in Ireland with modern inboard front suspension around 1986. Then they converted that chassis into the car we know now. I would love to see more FFs from developers!
I was there for the 50th anniversary of formula Ford at brands hatch in July 2017. Its awesome to see these old formula cars go 4 wide into Graham Hill bend.
Unfortunately certain things can't be learnt in these classic formula fords, most notably the behaviour of full-slicks on an open-wheel car, and the airflow around a car's wings & how they're set up will alter the car's handling characteristics.
My late father raced Formula Ford at Mosport in Late 60s early 70's. He was always bringing cars home to work on. I never got a chance to drive in one. This brought back some memories, thank you for sharing this wonderful racing car. I wish I had the chance in my younger days to get into racing.
I have bought the Xbox One X version of Assetto Corsa entire package for a huge six pounds on sale to see if I can recreate to an extent some of your races in the 60's cars. It is possible and must say, the graphics on that 6 year old game stand up. Lovely gaming and noticed it is possible on Forza 7 as well, quite a few very old cars in the 800+ cars I can pick from so to you I say thank you for the inspiration. I'm no longer buying F1 games but loved the old Geoff Crammond F1 games, go and try out Stunt Car Racer and Metropolis Street Racer at some time, great memories.
A word about the engine should be in here - I believe they used the x-flow version of the legendary Kent engine, which had been first tuned by Cosworth in the early 60s for FJs, and was the basis for its FVA F2 motor and Lotus’ twin cam (and the FVA was the test bed for the DFV).
Nice! I was looking at this car sitting in my mod collection just the other day. I never really gave it a try, so this is good motivation to plug in the wheel and sweat in 30c weather!
These cars are amazing in action! I was at the NBR old timer GP where a lot of vintage cars are raced like they are at Goodwood. While the 80s F1 cars steal the show with their DFVs those little formula juniors look so nimble and fun to race, dancing from apex to apex it's phenomenal! I sat in one of these after a lengthy chat with an owner and you wouldn't believe how tiny they are. Awesome cars!
I remember my local owner of this car told me that this is the best car he ever drove thank you of covering this i would love to see this come to rfactor 2
WOW very interesting and impressive! Especially how good the A.I. drives here, for Assetto Corsa standards! And what a nice view on the backside of the Motodrome grandstands! Really epic atmosphere and history!!
Great to watch, man! Clean racing while commenting, not easy to do! Great little car, too. Gotta try it! But wait, where can I find that pit board? I love it!
Downloaded this car a while back but didn't really do much with it - was a lot of fun but looks like I should really get back into it with some vintage circuits!
Have you tried the championship mode in Assetto Corsa? You can do some extra tweaks and perks for individual drivers there. Having some fun with it. Thank you for the vids they have been fun too.
Hey dude, love your content, I was wondering if there was a historic vintage racing league on Assetto Corsa with these kind of cars obviously ? Keep up the good contant, it is really fun to watch
another great race! Watching you making the same kinds of mistakes I do myself, make all this much more believable. Would you like to share some of the AI adjustments you did there?
Look very similar to early sixties F1... I spotted somewhere a pretty much interesting mod for F1 1965, probably taken from the rFactor mod I've been playing a lot with in the last months. I also love the Lotus 25 that is included in Assetto Corsa Ultimate I purchased a few weeks ago; now I'm in big doubt whether getting this Formula Ford or the '65 F1 mod... 🤔
I have one of these in Assetto Corsa but always struggle with grip. I can NEVER get any heat in the tyres but can't understand why apart from lowering the pressure. I'll get all fired up again seeing this and just slide off again😁
The default tire compound is the 1960s one and really stays cold always. If you swap it to the secondary compound in the garage its a more modern tire and i believe heats up easier
I was pretty excited when I first downloaded this, but I find it completely undriveable. Zero grip and huge oversteer on corner entry. I have no clue about setups so it stays in the shed. It's pretty strange seeing as I have no issues with any of the more powerful formula cars.
New to your channel, loving the content! Have you tried the VB Mod for F1 Challenge? Think that could be right up your street. Has every season of F1 in one mod.
Wow the car looks gorgeous gotta try it out. Amazing track for Sports Cars 67 in GPL also in he long version. The mod includes the Historic drivers names?
Amazing video as always. Don't know if anyone else is having weird issues with not being able to get the mod to work, but I've raced my brain for weeks now trying to solve the issues. I can like see it on the car selection page but it crashes and loops back to car selection after I try to start the race weekend. Weird as I can get most cars to work just fine
Hey everybody, last year i started with sim racing (AC) and it got me hooked. Now i realized that by far my most favourite cars are the 60s F1 cars. Sadly i seem to be the only one who thinks so and im wondering if there is something like a dedicated league for these cars. Who could know better than you guys. Thanks in advance!
I also seem to be that one lone guy who loves these kinds of cars. Can't get the guys of my racing league to love them too. Maybe we all should sit down in a circle and talk about our problems. 😁
