Today, I am reviewing the Jonathan Hickman Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 1-2. This comprises Hickman's entire comic book run on Fantastic Four and FF. What a treat it was to read this fantastic omnibus set! I purchased the 2022 reprints and was not disappointed.
Is this the greatest fantastic four comic run of all time? How does it compare to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's foundational run? Is it worth the investment? Find my thoughts on all of that and more only by watching this episode of TheComicBookReport!

Such a great run, Hickman has so much fun and you can feel it. Definitely agree with you that he’s got some Hickmanisms that show up in all his writing, haha.

Glad to see you back. Very good review. You are right about the story reaching its peak halfway through volume 2. I don't own these but my library had all the trade paperbacks. Johnny Storm's death was well handled and carried a lot of emotional weight {even though we knew he would come back}.

If you enjoyed this you really should find his avengers / new avengers / secret wars run which is fantastic, and builds on 'some' of ihe ideas here. The only thing holding it back is figuring out the ideal reading order which is incredibly complex across multiple volumes.

@@TheComicBookReport Thats excellent news, thanks for sharing - I was buying them digitally on release - have got about half of them as collections but is really difficult to get the whole set! This may make it easier to start again

Does this FF run conclude well or does the reader need to read the hickman avengers run to get closure?

It concludes very well and is fairly self-contained 👍 do not need to read avengers if you don’t want to

@@TheComicBookReport I missed out on these I got on board with Hickman with his Secret Warriors run and Avengers runs, and I loved how he revived the X-Men side of the marvel universe.

@@cavotiscomics3423 oh absolutely! I missed out on these at first as well but always heard great things. I’m just finishing up his new X-men stuff-got inferno coming later today. I’m hoping to get his avengers omnibus reprint that comes out end of year/early next year but we’ll see 🤷🏻‍♂️

the art looks good. I mainly have DC omnibuses. I have a handful of Marvel. I need to up my marvel omni's haha

I’m the opposite 😂👏 But yeah, there’s some great marvel Omnis out there. Do you read a lot of classic omnibuses or more modern runs? :)

@@TheComicBookReport more of modern stuff. I'll only get classic if it's highly rated. For example, just got death and return of superman. I keep hearing it's really good

@@TheComicBookReport well, modern, to me, is better due to pacing. I noticed older comics, pacing at times can be unnecessary slower.

@@MandoAllDay totally understandable! Sometimes I do love the classics but at times it can be a slog depending on the titles.. ha Lately I’ve been reading a lot of 80s and early 90s stuff and have really loved that. Anyway just curious! Cheers 🎉
