Oh I know. It’s Korea. I just meant that from the title my understanding was that it’s a New Zealand meat pie? (Thinking it was a NZ recipe 😅) Reading the description tho, I now realise it may just be inspired by pies here in NZ 😬

hello. this is what's known as a cottage pie the origin is British. Its not a new zealand creation both cottage / beef and shepherds/ lamb pies contain a layer of meat then mash potato then cheese. with no pastry on top (mix egg yolks through the mash potatoes for extra richness) what is seen in this video is not the correct way to make traditional cottage or shepherds pie/s but they don't look too bad

In New Zealand they have Shepards Pie but they also have the potato top pie which is very popular (there isnt a whole lot of difference between the too) It looks like they have flipped it and made a Potato Bottom pie. I would be cool if they made a Bacon and Egg pie too.

Cottage pie isnt in a handheld pastry. Also I think youll find the filling tastes completely different. You are right in that its a meat in gravy with mashed potatoes, but thats where the similarity ends.

This is at most a variation of the British Shepherd's Pie, you should really do some research before crediting wrongly to New Zealand.

I saw another video on RU-vid Where the lady who started and runs the Eunpie franchise with her sister. They both lived and trained in New Zealand. They decided to start there own Pie outlet in Korea and took inspiration from the New Zealand meat pies they enjoyed. They probably decided to add there own ideas to the pie and combine it with the New Zealand style pies. They look delicious.

It's not credited wrong though. The only similarity is meat in gravy with mashed potatoes. The gravy is completely different and its wrapped in pastry. Is it inspired by Cottage pie? (Shepherds pie is lamb) probably. If you ate them side by side you'd understand. Your argument is the same as the people that complain on pasta videos that its just noodles stolen from China lol...
