Hi Kathi. My parents were immigrants who were very poor. They couldn't buy me any books. I'd ask for a dollar for school and whenever they could give me I'd save it. Until I had $20-30 to buy a book. I mention this because your book library is my goal. Now, in my 20s, I have one maybe 6ft by 2 feet book shelf full and I love looking at all the books I've amassed. But one day I'll have as many as you, God willing. Thank you for sharing your collection with us ❤ books are a joy. 😊 (I subbed)

OMG! SOMEONE FINALLY HAS JENNIFER FALLON ON THEIR SHLEVES! this makes me so happy. i tell everyone (who asks for the recommendation) about Jennifer Fallon being one of the best Hi-Fantasy authors out there. You are literally the only booktuber I have ever seen with her books on a shelf. It really makes me sad that I will never get to see her and get one of my books signed by her. I would probably have to go to Australia just for her signature 😂

I have to agree I don't think I've heard anyone mention Fallon or even Sara Douglas. It seems to be mainly newer authors.

Great collection. Of course, I’m going to say that as I see a lot of overlap with mine 😆. I’m looking forward to seeing if some of the notable gaps (in books by an author or other Australian fantasy authors) are in your hardcover and trade collection 🙂

I’m a big fan of Morgan Llywelyn. I’m not familiar with Silverhand or the coauthor, so I can’t comment on that one, but back in the day I grabbed up any book I could find from her in the used bookshops. Digging back in my memories, the novels Bard and Red Branch immediately come to mind. I think I’ll have to put some Llywelyn back on my TBR to reread. Thanks for unlocking those memories for me! lol

Now I definitely have to read Silverhand. Doing these tour videos has been like a stroll down memory lane for me as well.

Hi Kathi. Oh my goodness ... this bookshelf tour was a walk down memory lane for me! So many authors that were my introduction to fantasy back in the late 70's and onwards. Beginning of course with Anne McCaffrey and her Pern books. Then there's David Eddings which is a series that I adore. Melanie Rawn's books are another favourite. I am reading my way through Jennifer Fallon's books, a series a year. Stumbled on her a few years ago and was able to collect all of her books in hardback ... well, most of them anyways. It's been a few years now since she's released anything and I'm hoping there will be more from her. I love Robin Hobbs books and have read most of them. I use to read Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books too but eventually stopped reading them when I found them becoming a bit repetitive. Magic's Pawn was my favourite trilogy in the series. I love Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts Daughter of the Empire series too!! I've read L.E. Modest Jr's Spellsong Cycle books and I think he wrote a sequel to the series focusing on Anna's daughter ... but I'm a bit fuzzy on the details there. Anne Rice wrote a sequel to The Mummy a few years ago because that book was so popular and people kept asking her for a followup. And lastly .... Patricia Kennealy (Morrison). Her books were amazing and I was always so annoyed that she never wrote more of them even though she had plans to do so. She was mostly focused on documenting her relationship with Jim Morrison and was waiting for his poems and music to be free of copywrite to do so. Sadly she passed away almost three years ago but I do have nine fantasy books by her in total and I cherish them. I can't wait for your hardback fantasy video Kathi. My own library is packed up right now because we're moving in June and I miss it so much so exploring your shelves was an extra pleasure. Not to mention seeing authors and books that don't get mentioned at all on most booktubers channels. Thank you for doing all the work to film this for us. Note: I'm crazee4books on Instagram where you can see a short video of my own library before it got packed up. Cheers!!

Hi! It seems we have very similar tastes in books. 😊 You are lucky to have found Fallon in hardback, alas it isn't so common to find them here. I haven't read the Spellsong Cycle but would like to get back to his books. Oh I didn't realise Kenneally had written more. I must check them out as well as your Instagram. Thank you so much for watching.

Yes -- definitely wish there were more book tubers like you -- get so tired of watching videos on fantasy books that were written from 2000 onwards. Yeah -- I get it that's what the younger booktubers grew on -- yes love seeing stuff from older book tubers. Please keep the videos coming!

What a wonderful collection of fantasy books!! Thanks for the awesome book tour - was a total trip down memory lane. Yeah -- I get a little tired of the younger book tubers (the ones in their 20s and 30s) where Robert Jordan is the starting point and everything else is ancient, I guess. So, love seeing stuff pre-Wheel of Time era. A little surprised you didn't have Lord of the Rings on your shelf (although technically I guess Tolkien published LOR in the mid 50s). He was so far ahead of his time. I was also hoping you had some Jack Vance on your bookshelf. He's my favorite author. He is mostly a sci-fi author but has a few epic fantasy books (although he's a little earlier as Dying Earth was mostly published in the 60s, although he did do some Dying Earth books in the 80s and also his excellent Lyonesse trilogy in the 80s.

Thank you! There are still some of us oldies around and I do like talking about authors who don't get mentioned much on YT. I haven't read Vance as I wasn't as interested in sci-fi when I was younger. I'll have to give him a go. As for LOTR, you might see it in part 2. 😊

I wish I had bought those Star Wars paperbacks back than. But I was a Trekki back than and not so interests in Star Wars as I am today. Douglas Adams Hitchhiker Guide is on of my favorite, but its a Satire not a true science fiction book AND the story came first into his mind when he was hitchhiking through Europe and he was in my hometown and watched the stars in the night;.)) What a lot of work to position every single book to take a picture hope you had help.

Are they hard to find now? They are old I guess. I learned to love the films when I saw Empire Strikes Back. I'm a Trekkie too! I didn't know that about Douglas Adams, and yes it is definitely satire or a spoof.
@michaelibk418

@@NerdyKathi Yes the old ones are hard to find I think Star wars Fans are very loyal and they keep their books and hardly sell second hand. Of course we have the new ones but a paperback is almost 26 Australian Dollars wich I think is a bit pricy even for Australian Standards.
