Patton is a modern day Zappa or Ian Anderson,so much musical talent. Bozzio,a Zappa drummer from way back playing super fast double bass drums at his age, phenomenal drummer.
I was at this gig. I live just across Leninsky Prospekt from here right now even, and have done for 15 years, and go walking past here often. My head must be there somewhere, I was just a few rows back from the stage. An enduring memory is the police who were there for crowd control, and how they stood facing the crowd to the right of the stage ('Patton-side') but couldn't stop themselves looking around at the band almost in shock at the beginning of the show. Also how 'Nozh dlya Frau Mueller' played support, but how quite a few dickheads decided to abuse them and throw crap at them because they wanted Fantomas to come on. Also how the stage crew all had the Fantomas masks on as they set up, and how the song 'America! Fuck yeah!' was played over the sound system to introduce Fantomas.
This is a well matched group of players making some of their best collective music And beyond original approach Suspended animation and directors cut changed the way i look at music
fuck this is so far out, I can't decide if I like Bozzio or Lombardo better now for this band. the fact that they could just pick up Bozzio to fill in and he plays everything to perfection, and you know he's has less time to play this shit than Lombardo, almost makes him a better fit. His musical pedigree alone makes him a perfect fit. I hope to see him with these guys if they ever tour again.
Same here. But I'll settle for Lombardo just to see this band again. Terry is a monster on the trap. Cute little Terry Ted Bozzio playing for Punky. Goddamn I love great music!!!!
An educated appreciation for music technique and writing is required you are not a fan. Try listening to The Boredoms or The Visitors . They might suit you better.
That's a scaled down kit for Terry and not even a DW. Looks like Dave's Tama kit he's put more of his stuff on, even has Dave's Paiste gong, Terry is a Sabian guy
In Russia you are not allowed to put on a show unless you are wearing military uniform. In Russia everything is militarism, sailors hopping in uniform, soldiers in boots dancing, movies about soldiers, war songs. War has always been fixed in their heads. They missed a war so much that they decided to invade Ukraine as if the immense Russian territory wasn't enough for them.
Not all art resides in the physical realm. And it's ok not to enjoy it. You experienced it and, it made you feel something - and regardless of what that feeling was - it made you share that experience with others. I'm a musician of 40+ years, and this is exactly why people like me do what we do - be that pop music, rap, Avant Garde thrash metal hyper jazz , or anything inbetween . See, you might not like it, but IT WORKED 😮🤯👍🤘🔥🫂🙉🙀🔥
It's pretty obvious that the most difficult piece to play for these guys is Twin Peaks - the most rhythmically straightforward thing they have on their list, yet always sort of fuck up.
Uhhh lol, this drummer sounds awesome, and everyone else in this band is very well known for carrying extremely tight bands. Why would they fall apart outside of their bands if they were crucial parts of said bands?
I think it's pretty obvious here that, like Nirvana screwing up Smells Like Teen Spirit as much as they could, they want to piss people off and make those interested solely in the catchy songs think that Fantomas is a shitty band. And judging by your comment, it worked :)
Lucky dog. I haven't had the privilege of catching any Patton bands live. Patton, Les Claypool, and Iggy Pop remaining on my concert bucket list. I saw Slayer 4 times, Dio, Motorhead, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Gwar, Alice Cooper, and others.
Fantomas are in a completely different league than tool. Tool makes prog metal for brain dead chumps Fantomas makes actual progressive music that pushes boundaries
