The description of the challenges with the Torque functionality was very interesting. Thanks v. much

Thanks. It struck me during the unboxing that the sliding catches are actually rather easy to slide. Perhaps the catches on the boxes were closed in the factory, but they opened during the journey, just by rotation of the shipping package.

They have a catch that clicks… it’s pretty stiff and clicks the case closed well. It wasn’t ‘clicked’ before they sent it though… Thanks for noticing. 🙂

Do you think I could use this if I bought drill bits? I need something that also drills holes into the wall.

That’s a difficult question to answer… A key factor is that neither of the NEX tools have the ‘hammer’ action you can get with a ‘proper’ drill. So their ability to make holes in brick is severely limited. But for other materials - such as plasterboard, wood and soft metals like aluminium - the NEX should work assuming you’ve got HEX drill bits. The L1 should be avoided as it doesn’t have the variable speed trigger action the L1 Pro has… this makes controlling it harder and you’re more likely to skid the bit. Note that the Bosch IXO has a drill adaptor, and that is a similar tool to the NEX. Which also hints at their ability to drill. Personally… I have a separate drill in addition to the NEX and IXO - and that’s what I use fir drilling into brick. But for light drilling into wood and softer materials it’s worth a look.

so for the early bird special offer of ~£60 for a case, set of bits and the L1 pro, is it worth it or would my money be better spent elsewhere?

I think it’s well worth buying if you are looking for a new electric screwdriver. Especially if you’ve not got a massive collection of bits lying about from previous tools! The 6mm extension and longer PH1 is really a nice idea - as I discuss in the video. I’m guessing that ‘elsewhere’ in this case probably means the Bosch IXO 6 though... and I deliberately don’t mention it in the video. The IXO 6 is really the sweet spot for compact electric screwdrivers and I’d say it’s the most popular. There are cheaper and more expensive electric screwdrivers, of course, but the IXO is what people tend to think of. And fanttik have clearly aimed the NEX L1 series at the same price point. I own an IXO 6 and I’m currently making a separate comparison video to help people decide which tool is the right one for them.

@@sterntechdaddy Thanks for the in depth reply! I'm just starting off my own tool collection and recently got a black an decker hammer drill so I wanted a tool to fill the gap between hand screwing and a drill, but ideally for smaller screws. The main benefit to this L1 pro would be usb C charging. But the main thing which put me off was you say how it damages computer and laptop screws when used on them. As a techie myself, I'm always inside my PC or doing upgrades or something and to damage a screw and maybe not being able to get it out would be a real pain. If it was full price of $89 (about £69) just for the drill, would your reply still be the same or would you suggest the IXO? Looking around it seems to be I can get it for around £45 for gen 6 and £30 for gen 5. The early bird offer isn't on for much longer so the cheaper pricing for the L1 pro will be gone in a day or so

@@VideomasterPDB I'd go for the NEX L1 or L1 Pro - especially if you can catch the offer. The Pro has the Shark Chuck and the graduated speed, both have the same accessories, LED's, and torque shut off. The L1 spins faster and has one less torque setting. You can make your choice based upon the above factors. As I already own an IXO 6, I specifically notice that the L1 doesn't have the variable speed, for example. As with any electric screwdriver there is the potential to damage things.... but the torque feature of the L1 and L1 Pro is actually pretty good once you are aware of a subtle aspect of how and when it's used. Essentially, the torque feature works best when putting the screw in... and it does work brilliantly! This is NOT the same as using it to tighten up a screw that's already in... which is the more usual use for a conventional torque driver if you've ever owned or used one. The torque detection seems to activate after the bit has spun for a second or so. During that initial spin, it turns at full strength and doesn't initially respond to resistance. Watch 23:18 again and you'll see its works really well.... except when I have the setting too high. :)

Can it use other bits? or only the bits it comes with?

Any standard 1/4” HEX bit will fit, but the included bits cover just about everything. :) Hope that helps.
