Do people out there actually use the "tool exchange" slot to load new tools in Robodrill? I worked with Robodrills for 15 years and it never even occurred to me to use the tool exchange location. Considering it takes about 10 times longer, it seems like shear madness to load tools that way. What I loved about the Robodrills is that I could take a rack of all my tools, lay them inside the machine and load every tool in practically no time. Now I work with Haas, and I can't stand the time it takes to load tools.
how is program zero set? I set all the tool lengths but i'm machining air above the part it thinks part zero is spindle all the way up. It would be a pain to make all my programs comp the depth for the z travel. On our Fadals and other machines its simple to just zero the axis on the part using tool one and the rest follow based off the length offset.
