So authors tend to take the night as their friend to whom they seek refugee and company. Many songs adress the night as a person.

Yes, it's Arabic precisely it's Moroccan dialect.' 'Ya layl'' mean ''Oh night'' the meaning is like when someone is in love, they usually can't sleep the night like other people, because they are thinking of their lovers and longing to meet them, so they say ''Oh night'' because the lovers have sleepless nights :)
