You are right! Victor and John from KWS were an important part of the team, and you'll see them again in the next episode as well. I listed rangers as a part of the team in this episode and I'll do a better job of highlighting their work in the next one.

I can completely understand the tears and emotions relating to finding where he died. I am sure I would feel emotions like that as well if in the same situation. You mentioned in this video you were carrying a 60-ish pound backpack, I'm quite curious what are some of the things you'd bring on the expedition. Hi Femke! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. In my bag, I brought along wet weather gear (rain jacket + pants), tevas to wear around the campsite at night so I could take off my boots, a head lamp, extra batteries, a hat, snacks/food/water, sunscreen, chapstick, toiletries (contacts, toothbrush, floss), external batteries for charging my phone/camera just in case...and I think that's about it. Maybe I'll make a video about this!

Unlikely. In 1942, he was 21. He would be 100 now. And it’s also extremely unlikely he survived the crash, but as I said. If he did, he’ll have died by now
So what we are actually looking for are bones that were found in 2002 and buried on site. When we go back to dig thoroughly, we might find other ones though.
No, they were with the army and were following strict rules about removing things from the site. But it's possible someone else could have stumbled across it!

Its difficult to watch this knowing the demise of black and brown soldiers who fought for empire and have never been honoured nor their remains been of interest. “Beyond the Western Front, in Africa and the Middle East, the remains of black and brown men who had fought, laboured and died for the British empire had been treated differently to those of their white comrades. Although these men had fallen in the same theatres of the same war, they, unlike white soldiers, had been denied the dignity of a known grave. Some were left in unmarked graves or even mass graves on the edges of forgotten battlefields or the sites of temporary field hospitals. These men, at least 100,000 of them, subjects of the British empire, had been treated in death as they had been so often treated in life - as the second-class citizens of a racialised empire.”
So true! Tom, who joins me on these expeditions, actually works with the British War Graves Association to locate remains of soldiers who weren’t given a proper burial, which as you pointed out is overwhelmingly black and brown men. A very overlooked aspect of WWII history, thanks for pointing it out.
