Tremonti pickup points are spot on. I'm a huge tremonti fan and had the pickups in one of my PRS guitars and felt the EXACT same way. I wanted to love it so much but I felt the exact same way. I could never really put my finger on it but I think that perfectly describes it just has so much of everything it feels hectic but not in a good way. Fluff you should try the PRS Metal pickup. I liked it a lot more than the Tremonti!

2 things. 1 I just watched that Kevin Smith video the other day you referenced and it was pretty powerful and kinda helped me to stop smoking weed after 20+ years. 2 I have for the last 3 years built tooling and equipment for Boeing down in Shelton, even though I haven't been there that long, our shop has been in business for decades so chances are you've used our equipment while you were at Boeing.

I don't know how often you make it down to Portland, but there's a fantastic place to get donuts, and I'm not talking Voodoo either. There's a place called Sesame Donuts, and they make the BEST, most mouth watering French Cruller I've ever had!

Hmm, have you played Thrash Factor and the Perpetual Burn and if so, how do they differ from the standard production JB in feel in "in real life"? My go to SD has always been a Custom with a large ceramic magnet in place of the standard sized magnet.

For whatever its worth, Dunable Guitars makes a pickup called the Slugwolf that is essentially a toned down JB, hovering at about 14k output. The clarity is fantastic. Very versatile.

I'm with you on the JB. It is by far my favorite pickup and even sounds great split (I wired mine for a power split option so it doesn't completely cancel the north coil just significantly reduces it)

Thanks for indulging my question about being critical and bad gear. Your nuanced take on it is actually one that makes sense, and think a lot of the creators who get accused of “shilling” are just trying to promote positivity in the community. No piece of gear is perfect and it is fine to have some caveats, but completely ripping something apart for the likes and engagement seems more problematic than highlighting positive aspects of a product.

The free and open source Neural Amp Modeler already uses machine learning/ ‘AI’ to make the highest fidelity snapshot amp models out there. Null tested with kemper, quad cortex, and tonex, it’s the best. I think the next step is going to be convenience and expense reduction for good quality gear and sounds. The UA pedals and other similar products are really cool and the right thing for a lot of players.

Tremonti Pickup is like a PRS Gibson 500T. Either love them or hate them

The most logical option for touring, in my eyes, is rack mount heads. I haven’t done any touring, so don’t take my advice, but that’s seems sensible if you want amps but can’t be bothered caring for them.

AI is def going to change the game because its going to allow you in a couple years not to model an existing amp but to CREATE your own amp. Thats the next level and it will come within the next couple years. Think the Bias Pedal builder from years back but actually creating amps, pedals, cabs etc purely in software. Wanna make a 5150 but bring some aspects of a ENGL amp? You will be able too. For recording its going to allow you to completely define a room and mics in ways that just are not possible right now. There is so much coming in just the next few years. Its going to save people a lot of money but its also going to allow musicians to create tones that we have not heard before and really get in and define how they want things to sound.

Yeah, the older one gets the more you start pondering about life and being more selective on how you invest your time on this planet. At 36 I still have some rage within me and a rebellious attitude but I sometimes just want to step back and enjoy the thing I like.

As someone working a lot with, AI is not really fast googling, that's waay to much of a simplified version of what is going on... But I agree it's not "true AI" either.

AI is not fast googling. It’s not fast internet. And it doesn’t require the internet, either. Sorry to say, but you’re far off. AI has a completely different response algorithm/model and learning engine that responses will change to the same question(s). Secondly, AI can be containerized, let’s say a device, that can pull from a library. Won’t get into the technical aspects of it, but it is so different than your “Google” search engine…which is why companies such as Google are implementing Gemini into the engine for quicker reference/answers. You can feed it documentation, images, etc. Your “Google” engine doesn’t.

If the AI is as good as NDSP's ML... oh wait, they've released 8 channels from 4 amps in the last 18 months. Maybe they should move off their VIC20. They deserve the negativity! Have you tried the costco mini donuts? Not worth the hype!
