Archspire is probably one of the tightest bands I've ever seen live...I've seen them lots (In Vancouver) and they only seem to get better. Stoked you checked them out
You'd be surpirsed how many of us Archspire loving Tech Death guys truly love your stuff, Ola!! Sound Engineering/Mix wise, you are inspiring to all! The tightest sound in modern metal.
As I watch this I think about what I have accomplished in the last year. I kicked a nasty drug addiction, been clean and sober over a year, have my own house and making good friends. After being a addict, homeless and slowly killing myself I moved out of state, got help and am slowly getting back on track. Keeping a positive attitude was tough, especially being in a new environment, sober and not knowing anyone. And after a year of staying committed to bettering myself I am just now making great friends and exciting for what the future holds. I still struggle to let go of my negative past, yet I am proud to say I am alive and able to take care of myself without narcotics ruling my life. Glad to hear you are enjoying life, I am enjoying mine. Cheers Ola!
👏🏻 Good work, man! You keep that chin up and keep up the good work! We just don’t feel good unless we’re moving forward and upward! You got this, never give up!
Damn it sounds like you and ola have accomplished a lot. Ive never been an addict but i am very aware that getting clean is a very difficult thing to do not to mention staying clean. It really warms my heart to hear success stories like yours. You rock!!!
I just want to say thanks for my Solar S1.6BLBM. This is the first piece of gear I've ever owned that I feel like I ripped YOU off by how cheap it was for such a great guitar. Best one I've ever played.
Dude, this is a special FAQ for me. Today’s my birthday and I super stoked to see this new guitar at the beginning of the video. I’ll of course order one of these beauties pretty soon. THANK YOU OLA FOR MAKING ME HAPPIER.
Thank you so much for answering my question. You're probably older than I am. I'm only 31. I just have an old soul. You're my favorite RU-vidr and an inspiration to me. Keep up the great work, Ola!!
Hi, Ola! I'm a new owner of a Solar A2.7, having received my several days ago. I had to reach out and thank you personally because I haven't been this impressed with an instrument [especially one at this price point] in a very long time. The major worries I had were quickly diminished within moments of plugging it up to my amplifier. I was skeptical of the C shaped neck design at first [especially a finished one] being so used to Ibanez style super thin U necks. It felt great to me and super fast to slide around and I found myself being able to comfortably roll my hand around the neck in a variety of ways which has even eased any discomfort I sometimes feel during extended play time in my fret hand due to injuries sustained during my line of work. The Duncan Solar pickups were also similarly spectacular in sound, like the best parts of an active pickup had a baby with a passive pickup. I was able to dial in the exact sound I wanted, something I was previously unable to do. There was always something that could improve with my tone, something to adjust. It was never quite right before. I'm hard pressed to find anything negative to say. Maybe the lack of locking tuners? But, if that's the worst I can say... It's not even something I would expect at all on an instrument in it's price range any way. And hell, I've transported it multiple times already and it's remained in tune anyways. Again, thank you. I now have a unique instrument with a great tone in an extended range market flooded with Ibanez. I will definitely be purchasing additional guitars from Solar over time as the seven string line develops over time [Type S :D]. I would definitely recommend anyone with any reservations about them give it a go, it's worth it, and plan on spreading the word t local musicians interested in extended ranges to give Solar Guitars a look. Cheers from the US. P.S. Why no gig bags on the Solar Store? D:
Paul Kossoff from Free was the inspiration for me to want my first electric guitar. Yes, I'm an old, OLD guy.. but here I am, a subscriber to your channel, and digging more and more metal everyday...( I hit my stride as a player with much older metal.. Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Priest, Ozzy, etc..) and actually learning from your influence, so even though I'm a really old guy, and my start was with classic rock, and older metal, we too evolve...cheers..
Dude, your house is actually pretty big by most standards, and your priorities (holidays and family time) are 100% correct so keep it up and keep making me laugh with your videos, yes all of them, even the serious ones haha
I just realized how much better your English got throughout videos...btw you haven't answered to any of my questions yet, would be great if you did...to remind you, have you ever heard of Opca Opasnost or Cold Snap? Thanks, you rock!
I started watching this video and i had an epiphany that you (Ola) and I were in the same place at the same time and didn't meet. In 2012, when you were playing with "Six Feet Under" I was living in Houston at the time, and i heard "Revocation" was coming to town, so when the time came, naturally, i went to the show. There was a local act before "Revocation" who's name i cant recall, then "Revocation" (obviously), then "Dying Fetus", then "Six Feet Under". I stayed though all 3 sets, and when i went to the show i just knew "Revocation" was coming, and at the time, i had not yet learned that you had joined "Six Feet Under", So being a massive fan of your channel, i found out a couple weeks later that you had joined, and i thought to myself, "wait, didnt i just see them?" and turns out i was right, you were there, i had a chance to meet you in the early days and I was completely oblivious, and ive been pissed at myself for that for about 6 and a half years now haha. I met the "Revocation" guys, with the original line up at that time, but had no idea that you were there until after it was too late. Talk about needing a time machine. Ive been watching since the "-insert amp here- Metal" days, and thats been one of those things that has just sat on the back of my mind for all these years, and i really wanted to tell you haha. I really hope you see this, because its a true story, and Im pretty bitter about it honestly haha But whatever, shit happens. I love you man!
Ola, you sweet swede SOB. Probably one of the only people I watch regularly, also copied a guy from a week or two ago and secretly subscribed to you on my girlfriend's youtube! You're welcome. Listen to The Silent Life by Rivers of Nihil! Saxophone solo at 3:20! Amazing new album.
Hi Ola! I haven't really been playing guitar for years, but by watching your videos, I'm getting really inspired to play and practice again ... and now I'm waiting anxiously for a Solar (A2.6TBRM) to be delivered to a pick-up point near me. PS: Keep on burping! Norway!
💕Ola..yes..Dime..good & true..Dime very kind being..and caring..Knew him very well..Thank you for your words for my friend of many years..Sup er Respect..I remember being with Dime creating music and laughing with him..Lil things..like his eyes smiled..Shine bright tonight..☆RIP The Abbott brothers..love em both..Dime would love you🍃..Much love from New Orleans Louisiana🍂..☆ Steph..Opal aka Big Mama ◇
Dude I'm so totally digging all of this and when I use the word "this" I'm here immersed inside of your content right now my brother. Nice video and love the coffee talk. I grew up on cold nights sipping the Java, imagining my favorite riffs. Two words though coffee sponsor, just remember it was my idea. Look forward to sipping Java over some energized shred Talk
Could you do a Megadeth guitar gear/tone video? It would be really interesting to see if you could nail the Rust in Peace tone because everyone on the internet says different things about what gear they used so there is no reliable info out there.
Tbf, they changed it up a lot. But I think this would be a great idea nonetheless (or Andertons sound like, but they don't seem to care that it is requested a lot in their comments....)
Got to see Archspire on tour with Obscura and Beyond Creation. Super nice guys that still work their merch table. They also nailed the songs live. Like you, there are parts that just make me laugh in disbelief. Intense but fun music
Ola! Have you ever wondered what is the point of having a pick guard on your guitar. The obvious answer is to protect your guitar from damage. But! What does it matter to have undamaged piece of guitar under your pick guard if it's under the pick guard?!
While I'm sure you meant that as a wiseass question, I'll spoil the mood by giving a serious answer for any younger viewers who really might not know. The two real reasons guitar makers like to use "pick guards" are #1 for holding pickups (strats) or #2 because it aesthetically suits a particular guitar, as is the case with several Gibson models. Imo a Les Paul with a pickguard is the best-looking kind of guitar on the planet, but I think Les Paul guitars without a pickguard usually look completely stupid. It makes a big difference. Almost zero guitarists on the planet bash their guitar with their pick like a 'tard for no fucking reason; the entire concept comes from a time when electric amplification didn't exist. Back in the day, if you wanted to play loud then you had to beat your instrument like an angry caveman. Nowadays you can just deafen everyone with a million watt PA system.
Absolutely not! I didn't mean that to be "wiseass question". I meant that the thing is called a pick quard. The name suggests that it's supposed to protect the guitar from pick. And I pointed out that it's kind of pointless to protect something if cover it up. And I'm LP owner so I know what you meant about aesthetics aspects. But thanks for the historic insight, man. I didn't know about that.
For Archspire you should def check out Human Murmuration. It's not as insane as Involuntary Doppelganger and it has some of my favorite tech death writing of all time.
Hey Ola. I saw At the Gates last night and they were amazing. Seeing both guitarists playing their Solar guitars was very cool. At the Gates has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard Slaughter of the Soul and last night was the first time I was able to see them. One of my best friends and singer for my band introduced me to them way back in the 90s. He passed away not long after and I felt like I was seeing them for him as well. Tampa Bay area death metal shows are always huge crowds. I would love to see The Haunted play here some time.
If you haven't already, check out Humanities Last Breath. The THALL is strong! P.S, can you please get onto my Ola Bobblehead idea. The world is ready!
I have played that same venue Archspire was playing in. That was Funky's in Vancouver BC Canada, and that was our metal bar. But they don't do metal there anymore
Hey Ola, have you ever heard of SoundMiner, basehead or Soundly? Those can help managing your riffs. I use them for sound design, but basically they are softwares that organize and reads all metadata you inject into the files, and you can separate them in many different section and description types. The good thing about it, is that you will not have to click in any folders, you just write what you want, and a bunch of options appear. Also, it won't matter if you have DI only tracks, because this softwares accept plugins. You can also spot them into various different ways into any DAWs. Very cool, might help your workflow a bit if you want.
Hello Ola. I’m a big fan of yours. I was watching since your first videos and you inspired me to make my own home studio and finally being able to produce great sound. You are the kind of person you do whatever the fk he wants but very lately I’m not watching your videos so much the only reason being they are too long. I think 10 min are the sweet spot. By the way when I’m watching them I watch til the end because you are super cool. Just saying. Greetings from Greece. And come here for a clinic. You got many fans.
Hey Ola. Have you ever met James Murphy? I remember back in the day his name seemed to be attached to many of my favourite bands, and seeing your name connected with many of my favourite bands today reminded me of him. I really enjoyed the Lazarus A.D. album he was involved in, in fact I used it as a demo to test some new speakers in a Hi-Fi shop a few years back. Anyway, he was a well known metal guitar player back in the day, just as you are now. So I wondered if you'd ever met, or had a story to tell? Keep up the great work, I love this channel, thanks.
I live in Iran and modern Iran is famous for BUTCHERING the DREAMS!!!!.....so when I watch your faqs man I feel happy and delightful!....Im planning to get the hell out of this country to chase my dreams.....guys like you keep our DREAMS BIG and alive!
Btw, Ola: you’re a real good guy and it’s a joy seeing you now after following you since those amp demos from 2011 and 2012. With that said, I know the Satan was designed by Mike Fortin which is already fucking awesome but were there any other high gain amps that inspired the Satan’s tone?
You rock Ola so does your new segment coffee with Ola. Maybe some lamb of god riffs for riff of the day. Looking forward to your Aussie tour. Cheers mate :)
Hi, Ola. Are there any bands that you loved that changed their sound so much over time that you couldn't enjoy them anymore? In Flames has basically reached that point for me, along with Opeth and a few other bands. Cheers!
Hey Ola, big fan from Australia. Can't wait to see you play down under. With the state of the music industry and streaming etc... Do you make much off overseas tours/shows? Hope eventually you'll do shows with your own material \M/
Love the videos man keep it up! I got 2 questions: 1) what do you use for your desktop background to get the gameplay videos on there? 2) have you heard of Ouroborus, its good melodic/tech death metal from Australia. If not check out "the sleep of reason" (good quality live video)
You can get a left handed 27" scale guitar from Kiesel in several models Just went to the site and priced out a 27" scale Vader 6 string for $1,309 with a case.
I have witnessed archspire live at a really small outdoor metal "fest" in my northern Canadian town. They were utterly mind blowing. Tight as hell, all were amazing musicians, the vocalist is capable of the fastest death metal growling I've ever seen, and they came across as complete professionals. The fest ran long due to some poor stage/act management and bad weather. As a result, their headlining set was cut very short but they came out, did not complain and slayed the crowd that remained. I had suspected that they relied on a lot of studio trickery to sound as tight and technical as they do on record, but they totally pull it off live.
Hi Ola! My wife has just subscribed to your channel but I had to promise her not to buy a new Solar this year..that's fine with me considering that there are only 2 months left😅Anyway, it is a pleasure to watch your Funny-Sunday-videos and I definitely dig your very instructive vidz, you release during the week. Keep it on🤘
I saw archspire in an indian restaurant, they had a laptop facing the crowd playing seinfeld the whole time and ollie kept talking about the land before time between songs
Hey Ola, are you a fan of Thy Art is Murder? I’d been a fan of them for a while but after I saw them on the double homicide tour with Decapitated it solidified my love for their sound. If you haven’t listened to them before, you should check out the song Naked and Cold from their Holy War album. Greetings from Virginia, USA.
Hey Ola, have you heard of the band Broken Hope? In my opinion, they are the most underrated metal band of all-time. If I may recommend an album of theirs for you to check out, it's Swamped in Gore. Cheers Ola!
Tjena Ola. Love your stuff, you are in the category of youtubers I watch ads for, I just wanna ask (again) what you think about Rammstein? Do you have a fav. Rammstein-riff?
Hello Ola! Can you show us how (or the ways) to connect the Noise Suppressor in the signal chain? Are you a fan of Obscuea? You are awesome! Inspirational indeed.
Hi Ola, would you post a studio diary whilst creating/ writing an album? I always find watching a band / artist going through this process inspiring and makes me want to get in the studio / start writing. Love you
In September 2017 you ( The Haunted) played a show in Eskilstuna, Sweden. You released a video of you guys playing The Preachers of Death. You said you have the whole show recorded, but you never uploaded it, I think many people would want to see that whole show, is it possible that you will upload it? Awsome gig btw, I was in the front row, had nackspärr a whole week after! :)
Thoughts on Avatar? I just got into them a week or so ago and have found my new obsession. For me they are bringing something completely fresh in the metal world!
I met Dimebag and the rest of the band at Tower Records in Nashville in 2000. Everything they say about him is true, he was super fucking cool. RIP Dimebag and Vinnie!
Have you listened to the band Avatar? They are fellow Swedes and they write some really great guitar riffs and solos. If you haven't you should check them out.
Hi there! Are you planning on having a workshop or alike in Munich, or somewhere else in Germany in the near future? It would be nice to see you here. Keep up the good work and greetings from Germany!
About making folders and files representable: I personally make folders named "2016", 2017", "2018" and subfolders named by the date and what was done that month in under the subfolder. And for any song or project give the files names that ALWAYS start with a number 01, 02, 03, .....12, 13, 14.... ie - "01 - Workname LeadGuitar LeftCh xy bpm" and such names, so you can find these works in progress easily. And I suggest that you NEVER use your system drive (usually c:\ ), but either make a D:\ partition OR have a 2nd HDD, with at least 2-4 TB (you will need it if you record in highest qualities).
@@wongsanggar I get what Mac users are about but I think Mac users don't understand PC users... I mean even Windows come with a preset of folders for you and all that, but I'd rather have an SDD drive that takes care of Win, the software I use, and the files I am working with can stay on D:/ or E:/ or how many you drives have. Edit - No prob! You're welcome ;)
If I've gotten to know you right throughout these years of watching your RU-vid channel, I think you would like the band Brojob. Their lyrics have such an amazing depth which I think you will appreciate.
Hey Ola I'm not a big Thin Lizzy fan, but I really enjoy the song Emerald. Its good for when you are playing fantasy games that feature melee weapons. You should give it a listen since you seem to enjoy video games. ☺
Hey Ola, I absolutely LOVED your Boss Gt1000 Acoustic Guitar video, and am BEYOND in love with whatever setting you used for the first few minutes of the video. Which factory preset was that? Or was it one you dialed in and if so how? :) Legitimately considering buying one to use for atmospheric sections in my techdeath band.
Ola! I have a question for your wife - your office is in the living room of the house, how do you switch off after work when you basically work and relax in the same room? I work from home several days a week and also struggle with this.
