The frightening thing that we should be extra concerned about, is that they asked his class mates to turn on him and investigate his social media. This, if iinvestigated must be done by an independent body which can be legally overseen, not his mates behind his back. It was the equivalent of saying "come on lads, let's get him". No student there is safe. There are no safe spaces at Burnley college because the person next to you could be watching. Anything you say could be overheard and reported. Big brother is watching.

I am a retired teacher. No pupil should be treated like he has been treated - the school are completely out of order: messing up his life because jokes and memes? WHAT! This is terrifying. A school should be a place where students acquire knowledge, learn to think and express themselves and develop character. This young man speaks well, he’s polite and respectful. But the school won’t tolerate diversity of views. And they encourage bullying by other pupils. It’s disgraceful. Someone should take them to court. Safe space means left wing conformity.

I actually studied politics in school so had many political debates on various issues but nobody was ever censored or excluded regardless of their opinions. Also the teacher never told us their personal opinions or even revealed who they voted for until the final lesson so we would form our own thoughts on issues. We also has a socialist in our class and despite differing opinions everybody got on fine in and outside class. You can be guaranteed none of those three things would happen now. Education and society as a whole have really declined since 2001.

And if he did make it to the BBC, imagine how he’d be patronised. And then Nigel switches effortlessly from interviewing a 17-year-old to an elder statesman Peter Lilley. I went through quite a similar situation at my sixth form. A group of students tried to get me expelled because of opposition to BLM but thankfully the head of sixth knew me quite well and could attest to my character. I was able to complete my education there unimpeded

My son was in a similar position at his college . A theatre group from London was employed on a project and convinced everyone in his class that they were victims of one thing or another...He didn't like the negativity and the bad vibes so spoke up about it . Because of this he actually did then get victimised by the outside group and the students which has lead to him quitting college tomorrow, 1 year early.....its been stressful
