If the issue is about illegal migrants is what this is all about, on what possible basis can these people even be allowed to set foot on British soil. They are committing a breach of British law and this should not be meekly accepted. It seems that many of these people are young men, they discard their passports at sea and expect the UK to deal with this. We have paid French police millions, for what? We cannot smash the gangs, but if these gangs are made fully aware that illegal landings in the UK will be forbidden, then the responsibility returns to them. If illegal immigrants pay illegal gangs for an illegal service then they must be prepared to accept some responsibility for their action.
