Quant, oh yes. Great no nonsense sensual designs. In those days I made two of her dresses, I believe via Butterick Patterns. Thought I was the spitting image of Patti Boyd. Thank you, Mary Quant.
Lovely to be able to re-visit this inspirational collection, as there was so much to absorb and the impact Mary Quant has had on making fashion accessible for so many has been revolutionary. The only aspect missing was the dynamic excitement of the 60's and 70's. The photo shoots and images of the clothes being worn by their owners were great.
La Mode s'exporte : la Minijupe est Française the miniskirts French fashion was exported to England French fashion was exported to England: the miniskirts and minidresses, creative inventions of Frenchman Lucien David LANGMAN fall winter 1959/1960, caused a buzz in London in 1966. The miniskirt was created by Lucien David LANGMAN, Master Tailor of the Jean Raymond house in 1959. Mary QUANT, the British woman, bought 2 miniskirts cut by Lucien David Langman at the Boutique des Arts in Saint Tropez and paraded them on a young model of 16 years TWIGGY in New York in 1966. The Miniskirt creations of Lucien David Langman and the aspiring model were a success in NEW YORK and launched Mary Quant to the forefront.
I was lucky enough to live in the age of mini skirts. Yes, guys; women and girls actually wore short skirts - and I looooved seeing them. Thank you, Mary Quant. Sad those days are gone.
