My good friend John Rice passed away in November 2021. John and I both shared a love of the music of Mike Oldfield and model railways and at his family’s request, when John was being farewelled at his funeral service, I ran his favourite locos and rollingstock to the music of Mike Oldfield on his wonderful Great Southern Land model railway. Hi, there wasn't much by way of a description, but reading the comments I gather a fellow railway modeller has passed away, very sorry to hear this. I was drawn to comment on your video simply because you had Mike Oldfield playing in the background. One of my favourite composers, musicians ever. A truly great layout. Great respect and best wishes Dave.

Thanks Dave, yes, my good friend John Rice passed away. We both had a mutual love of all things Mike Oldfield and model railways. I did this video up for his family as I ran his layout while his funeral service was being held at their request. I’ve only now made the video public, so I should update the description a bit better. If you want to see more of the layout, John’s RU-vid channel was under the name Australia1957T

@@trw1089 Thank you for your reply, and the story behind the video. I liked the bit about running the railway at the funeral, how fitting. It was only after commenting yesterday and looking through the video I realised I followed his channel anyway. Thanks again all the best Dave.

Awful news indeed. Australia1957T was one of the first RU-vid channels I subscribed to many years ago, I thought he'd been strangely quiet of late😥 I hope he'll live forever through his videos👍
