I grew up in Virginia in the United States, In the 1970s I bought a 1950s shortwave radio from a yard sale and convinced my Dad to get the car to haul it home. It did not take me long to discover Radio Luxembourg's 49 Meter band rebroadcast of the 208 m AM signal from just about sunset our time until well past midnight our time. I eventually found the 19 meter band relay of their French Language program in the midday our time. I didn't speak a word of French but music is universal. There was magic there. Similar to hearing Radio Kuwait in the late 80s before the Gulf War. And I am someone who was within the signal coverage of WHFS the legendary Maryland station. I miss Radio Luxembourg two!
No idea this program existed, loved Luxy from 1983 onwards ( I was 6!) .. Radio 1 in the evening had nothing for me back then, was too young to appreciate John Peel
