She is 74. Still looks young for her age and so sharp and alert in her mind. Always pretty and cute. But best of all is her good manners. She is full of positivity.

My first Farida Jalal film was Aradhana, where she was cast opposite Rajesh Khanna (in the son's role). And she was just so cute. I have loved her ever since then, and any time she's on screen, a smile lights up my face. It's a shame she's always cast in mother's roles, but even so, she does such a lovely job of it - makes you want to go hug her tightly.

This woman deserved so much more in terms of roles and films!!! I mean she had a 5 minute scene in Bobby and left such an impression as a mentally challenged woman. She was only 48 and she was portraying Daadi in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and that truly is so disheartening that all she got from the 90s onwards was daadi/chachi roles. I truly yearn and hope that OTT and streaming will provide her with new opportunities to truly showcase how talented she is.

I grew up watching her serial Shararat and loved her in that show. After growing up I saw many of her old movies too and realized what an incredible actress she was and a hidden Legend.
Farida Jalal ji always brought about a calming screen presence. Have enjoyed watching her roles over the years! Plus, she speaks so highly of her colleagues and co actors in this video; it’s just beautiful to watch. Even her role in the TV series Shararat was lovely. The perfect mischievous Naani!
It all depends on the script. Aditya Chopra also wrote the script of _Dil to Pagal Hai,_ and there she played aunt to Madhuri. The film was equally successful, but the parental level characters (Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Aruna Irani) were not fleshed out, and therefore did not contribute to character arc of the lead actors, and were merely there for comic sequences or superficial advices.
Reema Lagoo and Farida Jalal are my favourite mothers when it comes to Hindi cinema. A lot of new mothers (very talented actors with strong background in theatre) are getting their dues and acclaims and thats well and good. However there's something very special about these women, beyond acting, that touches a string in your heart.
Farida ji...one of the finest artists of Indian cinema...her presence always brought warmth energy to all her roles...I loved her also in Balika Vadhu as badi maasi ji...
