It looks really yummy. Just an idea; try adding the milk and cream after the cooking cycle is over and the heat is off. It will loosen the soup, won't curdle the cream, and will help cool the soup off a bit for immediate eating without burning your tongue.
Dave you almost brought tears to my eyes there brother. My mother raised me on that dish. The old folks down here in the Deep South call it taters n thickening. We have tater soup also but that right there is where it’s at brother!
Hey Dave, Would like to make a recommendation that you use a pepper grinder with black peppercorns. Only takes a few seconds to grind the pepper yourself and it gives you a lot more flavor.
It's good anytime but it's especially good after sitting in a frozen deer blind all day in Illinois around the months of November. Thanks for sharing Dave!
Glad to see you doing well boss. By the way the reason the seasoning salt doesn't want to shake out is because it's got too much water in it an clumped, from using it over steaming pots. I didn't know this for a long time and now I always put seasoning into a bowl, spoon, or just my hand then throw it into steaming food.
Love Dave's reaction on all these meals, seems like he's definitely been out in the bush for a few days and coming back to making nice dishes and THOROUGHLY enjoying.
💖💖💖💖some celery an a can of clams , chowder, or some corn go a long way , awesome , thankyou for all you're hard work and teaching , best wishes , safe travels🙏
Looks awesome! Im still waiting for the day when Dave sits at the table, puts a spoon full of food in his mouth and just says 'That's gross' as he walks off! 🤣
Hey Dave... I just made this the other night... it was incredible!!! I did add a couple handfulls of grated parmasean to it at the end of the boil.... Thank u for doing all these cooking videos!
Have I mentioned that you ought to start a restaurant? The Pathfinder Outdoor Kitchen. You don't even have to change locations. Put out some picnic tables under tarps to stay dry when it rains. Yes siree. It could take off. Seriously, that looked mighty delicious. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this.
Looks delicious, I haven't had potato soup in years. Gonna have to put this on the menu for fall, the winter is long up here and I make a lot of soups & stews.
Looks great. I love cream soups. I grow chives. They will grow year round in Virginia. I grow them in pots. They last until real hard freezes in a protected sunny area, can bring inside or leave outdoors and they'll come back up in spring. Thank you.
Thank for the good food video.. Looks great and I bet it tastes even better.. My Wife has been looking for a good potato soup recipe, and she's not going to have to look any further.. Here's the only one she's going to need. Thanks Brother, really enjoyed watching your video and information.. 🇺🇸
I really like this series. I’ve watched u for years from dual survival to ur channel. You’ve taught me alot but it’s nice to see u make some food and enjoy it. A different side of Dave
I’m really surprised than you haven’t added the Afghan pressure cooker to your kitchen. I started using one a few years ago. This recipe is perfect for it. It reduces cooking time and fuel used which goes right along with the minimalist game plan.
God that looks amazing. I’ve never cooked it because I’m a horrible cook but I’ve been watching your videos as I cook and it’s turning out pretty good . I will be cooking that Friday night for my kids.
That looks so good, never made Potato soup this way before. My parents would make Potato Soup with Egg Dumplings when I was a kid in the 60s, funny i just got home from the store with my potatos to make soup tomorrow! YT's AI always seems to know.
you can also leave out the flour, let the potatoes cook in the milk and broth then add instant potatoes to the pot to get the thickness you want. Makes it easier to not burn stuff to the bottom.
👍👍👍 .. Wow .. that does look good. With Autumn and Winter coming up, even better. The only problem I foresee (for me) is .. When I make a potato soup, it doesn't stay that way. Anything else skulking around in the vicinity, often ends up in the pot .. the odd Carrot, Celery, etc to name some offenders 😁. A good share Dave .. thanks. Take care ..
More like 3-3 1/2 cups of broth my guy, ‘enough to cover’ next time, no need to be so technical. Used to live off this when I was homeless. Love your work and your a true inspiration to us all. Heads on Trails not Tails. Love you man.✌️
I can remember having cabbage soup for dinner so we could have squirrel and gravy for breakfast every day we had two big pans of biscuits if we didn't have butter we had home canned tomatoes I liked them cooked better than butter most times
I occasionally buy the 3 lb pack of bacon " ends n pieces" . I get a solid half pound of good solid rendering fat, some stringy fat that I throw away. So, 2 lbs or better of solid bacon for bout $7.99. I slow cook it on the grill in a Dutch oven, then dry cook/drain it for a few minutes to reduce fat and use it accordingly.
Chef tip: If you put the flour and butter in a bowl and mix them together before adding them to the pot it helps prevent any lumps and makes the flour mix in easier.
This has elements of our family treat that has been past down for generations call, Ken's Corn Chowder! For us/we Baldwins it"s the the kind of stuff that will make your tongue beat your brains out.LOL!
So because I am TRYING to watch carbs I had eggplant lasagna for dinner. ...I'm Irish. Potatoes 🥔 are my favorite food. I feel like I just watched food porn. If I smoked, I'd probably light a cigarette. Love this series Dave!!
Talk about taking us down memory lane..splendid indeed DC. Also as you know we run an Outback Bishcraft Camp & some of our rookies are either Vegetarian & Vegan, is there any chance that you can do a cooking show for them? we're using it as part of their curiculum in outdoor cooking. Cheers mate.
Huge fan of potato soup 🥔🥔 🍲, this looked delicious for sure. What is Your source for all the unique sodas.?? Impressive Cast Iron collection. NicelY Done. Thanks for sharing.😎🇺🇲.
Hey Dave, you should be smashing your garlic and letting it sit for 5-10 mins to let the chemicals in the garlic react before heating it. You are loosing a lot of health benefits by applying heat to quickly. Heat breaks down an enzyme in the garlic before the enzyme can react with another chemical in the garlic.
Interesting...totally different methodology but more than one way to skin that cat( apologies Zahn!). The BIG thing I would always add is some celery seed while cooking...but looks good Dave.👌
Your recipes are just like the hillbillies recipes I grew up on kind of just making do with what we had I killed a mean rooster once we had dumplings just making do I look back on those times and love them most people would think them hard times not me
