They both go the same direction so changing sides wouldn't matter? 180 would work though as long as the cut works with it where it lines up with the horizontal brace. They're not like you would have on double gates where they're opposite of eachother if you look at them, they're all on the same way by the looks of it so all run top left to bottom right as shown from our view.
I love the braces ON the shutters, without them it looks like something is missing BUUUUT with that being said it’s y’all’s home so you should do what you like best. I only said my preference because y’all asked🙂. I love all the extras, they add character to the home. God bless y’all🙏🏻
You have so many vertical lines on the front of the house, I would correct the direct of those cross pieces and keep them. Love the nailheads! Texas Deb ❤
I vote for transversing the cross braces on the shutters. The smooth or rough cut look won’t be noticeable, especially after you treat/seal them. They look incredibly nice and the black steel accents on them and the garage doors are a rustically elegant touch!
HELLO CHAD & RAE 😊 LIKE ALL YOUR NEW ADDITIONS. GO GET COOLED OFF IN THE POOL😅 I KNOW CARTER AND ADLER WILL LOVE IT TO. LUV U KIDS. HAVE A GOOD WEEK😊 HUGS AND PRAYERS FROM CONNIE SUE 👩🏻🦳🙏🐐🐐🐷🐷🐓🐓🐄🐄🐄❤️🇺🇸
Hi Chad and Rae, I think those cross peace’s on the shutters look good. That’s a good mix of outdoor stuff you have there. Love what you’re doing with your new property. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Do what you like. Personally I'd either correct or remove the cross brace. I love the addition of the studs. When we are at camp, we tuck bounce (regular scent) dryer sheets, around the back of our neck, and in the back pocket. It helps ward away the knats, etc...
I am so enjoying y'all's new channels. Gives me more Doss family time! I love it. We're in Florida, and watching the storms, both gulf side and the Atlantic.
I totally understand the hesitation to use tiki torches. I lost my home to a fire in 2000. I am still wary of fire anywhere near the house. You have to live it to understand it.
My Veterinarian wears a tick collar on his ankle. He runs with his dog and down on the peninsula all the walking/running paths are tick infested. He swears that it works great. Now you want to watch what your putting in/on your body but you also need to weigh the difference between wearing a deterrent verses a tick born disease.
Here in Arizona we have a deterrent for diamondback rattlesnakes called “ Snake Away” can get it in graduals or a Spray you hook up with your water hose. They work! ( I don’t like the graduals because the get scattered all over and they smell like mothballs and The liquid spray I like better ( it smells like mothballs too) Only drawback is if it rains have to reapply them! We get monsoon storms here in summertime! I still use the spray! It works. 🤗👍🏻👵🏻
Keep the cross brace on the shutters and add the nails. I love what you guys have done so far. The only thing you're missing now Chad is something to repel spiders...😂 Keep up the good work...👍🏽
The tack nails look great they match the dark color of the house! The crossbar may keep the upright boards from bowing as they age, otherwise your choice as to the style. IMHO!
I like the shutters with the cross board on it best. It gives the home more of a rustic "farmy" look. Sounds kinda of silly, but it gives the home a more comfy feeling to me. Had to edit to add that I love those nails you added to the shutters.
Be careful that if you wear the items that there isn’t chemicals that will go into your system and make you sick if you wear more than one at a time, we love you and don’t want you to be harmed
I really love the decorative nails. They add so much beauty to the shutters. Also, the garage door magnets look sharp. You guys have really done a lot to the house. It’s gorgeous.
Love the citronella candle and the mosquito bands. Yes, I’m 6 ft, have to wear one on wrist and one on ankle. Stay mosquito free! Love the decor of the ‘buttons’ on the windows. Happy Days! ❄️🧊☀️😄👏🥰🤗🙏
Ooh also, mix 1 bottle of vanilla extract with 1 bottle of rubbing alcohol and 6 drops of peppermint oil (store in a dark glass bottle) fill a fine mist spray bottle and it's a NATURAL BUG REPELLANT. ♡ yesss we're one of those families lol.
This sounds safer with dogs and cats around. What size bottle of vanilla and alcohol?? Thanks! I’m worried with having foxes, owls, raccoons, bears, mountains lions, etc on our property, and I don’t want them to eat the tick bait or any bait we put out.
@katepollard-vithanage889 I use 1 bottle of 90% alcohol 1 large bottle of Rozelle pure vanilla the the drops of peppermint oil.. you can spray pets or people. Alluding a bit of cayenne will determine soooo many pests but I wouldn't put it on the 2 lil one....although you can without. If your worried about it irritating your skin just add aloe gel to it ♡
@katepollard-vithanage889 I build it in bulk. So I use the large bottle of the pure vanilla...(it's expensive but will keep a long time in the alcohol) I also use the WAlmart 32oz of 91% (it will evaporate off your skin quickly and you could probably add more than 6drops of peppermint and probably should but I hate too much in mine) Also cayenne....I forgot that. But bugs do not like my spray at all annnd it smells great . Downright tasty lol annnd is cheaper especially in a fine mist bottle like you'd use for fixing your child's hair on school mornings lol. AND ITS NONTOXIC TO HUMAND AND PETS! ♡
@@deebatroha9974 thank you so much for telling me all this!! I actually made my own vanilla a year and a half ago and made two big bottle with Costco Vodka so I have a lot of vanilla!! Some of it for gifts but I could use 16 oz for this. Would that be the correct amount? I’m so glad it’s not bad for my children or animals! I so appreciate your help!!
I would leave it off on the shutters... we always used sulfur for tickets.... also helps with snakes. Love you all so much! Continued prayers! God bless ❤
May want to keep Cabella away from under the porch with those tick/ mouse repellant tubes. And also be careful wearing more than one of those citronella bands. Otherwise you too have so much fun together, loving your teasing and sharing your videos with us.❤❤❤
Personally I would leave them on. I also would not be concerned about the existing light spot. God and nature will take care of that in short time. Adds a bit of character. Love and prayers for the entire Doss family ❤
Put back on and forget it. They look good either way, but look better on. Don't like ants of any kind either. All your additions will improve the look of your house. Fun
Try spraying the area around your pool with store brand listerine. Just use a spray bottle. I do this under my carport....ta da!!! No mosquitos . Works for me.
Being in the New Mexico sun, we have used Linseed oil on our wood fences for a protective seal. We have also done half Thompsons water seal & half linseed oil. I would try both on a small board and set it out in the weather and see what way you prefer. The nails on the shutters look amazing. You might add them to the braces you plan to put up also.
I like the shutters with the cross bar thing and the buttons! I would not have known which way they were supposed to go but that's just me. Everything looks so beautiful!
Love the change to this new channel, you two are adorable 🥰 I really like the shutters without the crossy thingy. It makes your windows look bigger and stand out more. The buttons are a great touch! Love it!
As for the snake repellent, make or buy a band for your ankles with a pocket for one on each leg. Maybe even make a velcro closed fabric band? You need like 6 pair, to cover your whole family with extra to spare. OR just use some little pouches and use a shoelace to tie to ankles?
If you want solar outdoor string lights the Costco ones are amazing, but they won't work in winter. We have them all over our garden. We also have those little solar ball lights that move in the wind. They are cute
The solar ball lights or firefly lights as they are formally called, can be spread out in a more circular pattern by pinching the stem part. I have a lot of them in my yard, even bought some color changing ones on Ebay.
Hi kiddos. I like the cross bar on the shutters also love the accent things you put on them. The garage doors look good with those accent pieces on them .❤❤
@@janellewatson1191 yes Ma’am, but tossing these things near the porch or just under it could cause a problem if a pup crawled under there, like The older doggie. It killed my neighbor’s cat.
@acooper3903 exactly, but people swear it works, the only thing it does is ki// anything that eats it, what he should do is show the kids and educate them that what are safe snakes and what is harmful instead of putting stuff out that any animals can get too. It's very painful for animals that have eaten poison especially the dogs. It doesn't matter if they live in the country, educate the kids !!!!
@@janellewatson1191doesn't matter if they are fence in, if it's put under the porch or on the other side of the fence animals will eat it and die a slow miserable death, especially raptors. Mothballs outside is illegal to use them other than what they are supposed to be used for.
