Tip: when you dont have gloves, you can use a ordinary plastic shoping bag when removing the large bolt. Usefull if the bolt falls off-it will be in the bag, but also good against oil on the hands.😏 Wear the bag like you would a baseball glove.😉
I enjoyed watching you struggle under your truck.. just relieved it wasn't me having to do it. I've often heard people say they changed the oil, but I've never seen it actually done. Good job. x
I worked for some of the largest trucking companies in the US driving a tractor/trailer for 29 years and every company I worked for always used Shell Rotella T oil in their trucks. It's the best oil made for diesel engines.
Robert I did the same thing when I got my 87 Monte Carlo SS. I was the 2ed owner. When I bought it. It had extensive up keep records with receipts an all. I even have the Orginal Window Sticker from where they bought it New off the Show Room Floor. I even entered it into a Car Show and Won I still have the Trophy. Thanks for Posting. Also my response to who get upset an your Choice of what brand of filters an Oil an whatever is to say to Each Their Own.
Most important and often over looked maintenance item. I run synthetic so i change every 3 to 5K on my car. My engine looks new inside at 70K and runs amazing. Im not too picky on what brand of oil or filter i use but prefer not to use big chain store brands or the cheapest. I have friends with old cars they have driven 10 years and never have changed the oil ! Yikes ! lol
To keep the oil off fingers....when you get the nut loose enough to finger twist...take the Rachet off the socket and let the oil drain thru the socket til it finishes.
i have the same diesel. the bolts in the air filter base will fall down sumtimes and you have to reach underneath air filter box and hold em up. i fixed mine to prevent that but just sayin that ould have been your problem
Always good to get an oil change and do some regular maintenance on it.. with regular maintenance that truck will last you a good long time,🙂 Have a new air filter for our 2003 Caddie Deville, and have to get her oil changed this month, she also used the synthetic oil as well, since it is an older engine. Have to get her ready for upcoming winter here.at least she is in the garage, to keep her out of the weather..
I bought my used Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 way back in 2002 and when I started going blind I gave it to my son. It does not leak oil and runs and idles smoothly. We use and have used for a long time Valvoline High Mileage oil. It is a 1999 Jeep.
I am surprised you used a Motorcraft filter. I have had bad luck with Ford parts for several years now, ie., three idle control valves. In all three cases excellerator stuck at about 100 mph! Not fun. But back to you, I love your vehicle videos. Way back, I recall your work on the old Jeeps, as in taking parts from the U.S. mail Jeep - fun stuff - loved it. 😁👍👍 You need the OBF logo on the door of the truck. 😉 Great air filter design, huh? 😳
I did frame filters, and Castrol oil. Both my Mercury cars I used it on lasted from 1989-2000, and 2000-2017. Now my Escape I could care less. LOL Now you know why they didn't change that filter. LOL
I've had cars that the books tell you they don't have cabin filters..they lie. All modern vehicles have cabin filters, you just have to find them or ask a dealership where the are.
Air filter covers should be moulded from clear plastic, so that you can get a visual on how badly the filter is faring and whether it maybe needs to be changed earlier. Also, one would then be able to line up things likes bolts. 😁🛻🚜
