@@legitmusicgaming4749 Somewhere around 1992 the U.S. Congress passed a new luxury tax on such things as yachts, very expensive cars, etc. Of course the people who buy yachts can buy them in Italy, the U.K., the Netherlands, Germany, Asia, etc. So the new luxury tax put thousands of people out of work and brought several yacht companies to the edge of bankruptcies. In a rare case of backpedaling Congress killed that tax and people went back to work. Greed does that to some people; expensive products already produce big gains in sales taxes and other fees but some lawmakers feel it's not enough (much like the gangsters & racketeers in the movies).

Some people get too envious/jealous to think straight. A multi million dollar yacht means that many people are able to earn a living (and pay income taxes and buy goods and service. Putting people out of work increases the homeless.

Lowering the milk prices forced my family to sell or lease out their farms to giant corporations because they were bankrupt. Stop lowering prices, milk is very affordable to begin with.
Mr BuzzKill why are prices in the stores going up for the consumer, yet prices for farmers keeps decreasing? It isn’t because milk sales are dropping. Milk production is still booming and the overwhelming majority of it sells before it expires, you never see milk in my area with a “managers special” sticker on it. Someone in the middle is making a crap ton of money, by sticking it to the worker and the consumer at the same time.
@Mr BuzzKill many farmers got "starved out" . farmers don't get paid like typical businesses. They generally take loans in the spring to cover the planting season. Then they at the mercy of the weather. Sure there's "crop insurance". But corporate farms have better money. And take more government subsidies.

For much of the past year, whole milk at Walmart was $.89 a half gallon. Walmart built their own milk production facility near Fort Wayne, Indiana putting the middleman Dean foods into bankruptcy

I don't know your age but I do come from a dairy farm area and most of the children in fact almost all of them do not take over the family dairy farm anymore so my question to you is do you have and if you do will your children take over the farm and run it with the same love you gave to it. Milk is nearly $5 a gallon every where around me and I know the farmer get nearly nothing. As one said just before he sold off everything, "When your grain bill is more than the milk check, it's time to end it."

@@Azubjourni farmers cant just quit and move on. They unlike a 16 year old employee have alot invested in equiptment, livestock,crop and property. Farming is not something one typically just starts doing. Usually its handed down from generation to generation

Get me right: I´m far away from saying that it´s good what happens in the market, but it is not the margin Lidl want´s to make but the market in general. Lidl can´t be the only one who stops selling milk for the price they do, all the costumers would leave and buy the milk in any other cheaper shops. You canßt blame Lidl as the only bad guys.
Those farmers are paid enormous amounts of other people's money which was stolen from them in the form of taxes so it could subsidise agricultural farming. Socialism sounds good at first then it sucks.

Honestly farmers need to stop selling to grocery stores and factories and start selling local only make announcements to the big grocery chains, processing facilities and customers that they will not be receiving any food from the farmers at all unless they go to the farm directly. Tell people from the city pay the farmers directly for their vegetables meats and milk products and get 100% of the cost... Either that of farmers need to all at once quit farming in unison and let their nations starve and beg then to farm again until grocers are willing to pay more
Just imagine what would happen if every local farmer got together and pooled together to build a dairy facility to make milk cheese yogurt and opened a store themselves. Vegetable farmers built their own canning factory and sold fresh and canned veggies themselves to cut buyer and grocery chains out of the the picture... Farmers would honestly be better off selling flower and bread itself then sell the wheat to make it... And if factories want anything they would have to pay the farmers what they want for the price of the food products not what the factory wants to pay

There the presidents have to do something. If the farmers would sell the food with inceased prices, the big stores would sell imported food gor less money, and the people would buy this food. How can we not love farmers they are good natured hardworking God fearing people to me they are the back bone of our country. And no I'm not a farmer Iam a trucker from the city but I know good people when I see them.
My older brother is a farmer me and my family support farmers they do so much work to keep food on the table. So why on gods green earth would a corporation like Lidl make these HEROES suffere any more than they already do. I’m glad someone decided to teach these big bosses a lesson

Harry , it does not describe the acronym or LIDL. It only says they’re protesting milk production. That’s extraordinarily vague. I’m 100% on their side, but as I said perhaps a bit more description of what is occurring would be nice. If you want to garner support For your cause, you need to express your cause. Central Oregon Kung Fu okay fair enough. Lidl is a supermarket brand here in Europe, like Walmart is a supermarket brand in the states. These farmers are retaliating over the reduction in price of their milk, while the shop maintains the same price for their customer. Essentially both the farmers and consumers are getting the worse side of the deal because farmers are getting less for their milk, and consumers are having to pay the same price for it, all while Lidl brings in greater profits.
Harry , thank you kindly for that explanation. This type of thing has been going on for decades upon decades with farmers in the US. I myself live in Tillamook Oregon USA it is nothing less than dairy farming. But I do recall the potato farmers in Idaho having this very same issue, soy bean growers, wheat growers, and so on. To the point where the government is paying farmers to simply not grow their crops. It’s disgusting and nobody wins. I take that back, politicians, lawyers, And big money guys they profit. I feel sorry for Romania already, milk in Portugal is 0,46€ per liter, brand milk is less than 0.7€, and your wages are worse than ours. There's way too much corruption in Romania.

We ought to respect all creatures. Dairy industry I've heard is quite horrible to cows - they are given hormones to keep them lactating as if they were pregnant. I'm sure you'd have something to say if someone was using your wife/daughter that way...
In my country milk sells for a Euro per litre. We get paid 30c for a litre, we have to rent or buy the land, build the equipment for milking and housing the cows, the manure storage, the feed storage etc etc on 30% of the cost to the consumer, 1 kilo of dry matter of feed converts to 1 litre of milk, each kilo of dry matter cost 18c for forage and up to 30c or more for grains, cows convert forage to milk slower than grains so you balance the feed to get the best volume of milk per cow where you don't have to keep as many cows to make a living. After feed cost you'll roughly get 10c per litre left usually(most feed in my country is from forage) a cow will produce 20 litres average over 300 days of the year the other 60 to 80 days are a rest period where they are not milked, so each cow makes roughly 600 per year over her feed costs, so to make a living wage you'd need to have about 80 to 90 cows, just for your wages, now facilities will cost you 250000 for that amount of cows so over 10 years to pay back a loan that's 25000 a year which means you'll need another 40 cows which will require another 100000 worth of infrastructure, which will need another 20 cows which will need another 50000 which will need another 10 cows which will need another 25000 etc etc. Now at this stage we've got 160 cows or so, one labour unit can at maximum handle 100 cows each so you'll need a second labour unit so you'll need another 50 cows to pay their wage and can you see how this just doesn't work!

Today politicians control way to much, we need to harvest wet weed, plant cover crops when the field is to wet etc etc, the subsidies come with forced Work. @LazicStefan I actually agree though I think a specific property tax on empty houses and on land not in agricultural use could help break the current system and make it less attractive for foreign investment causing inflation out of order with Labour and commodity prices.
It’s time the people of the UK started to act like Europeans and not just sit back when they get abused by governments or big corporations at the peoples expense.
