I am a farmer, lemme know what will happen when no one wants to buy my produce at MSP? what about food inflation? What is the fate of the food security of 800 million bottom-tier people?

Let's agree to the farmers demand and also start taxing the agricultural income. The only people face problems due to the protests are the middle class people. A country cannot be run without farmers but blatant demands like these would surely divide people further.

Rich farmers will get everything at free with no income tax and middle class will pay for it

Let experts and media pay from their own pockets for MSP. Common middle class income tax payers will not pay additional taxes or inflated prices for MSP law.

Modiji has promised doubling of farmers incomes. But, it has not happened. Farmers are certainly suffering and their demand for legalised MSP is justified. An economic improvement at farmers level will improve the rural economy and in turn growth. What is feasible can be as follows: 1. Legalise MSP for the 23-24 crops which are covered. 2. To start with, fix MSP at least between what are the current MSP rates and what the Swaminathan formula provides. After things stabilise, move to Swaminathan's MSP, over the next ten years, keeping track on the comfort of budget's ability to support. 3. Let Government fix nominally, the number of quintals per acre, a famer can produce for a given crop. 4. Let farmers register the number of acres they have shown in a given season, to estimate the expected crop by a given farmer. 5. Let Government commit to procure 50% at MSP, but in two installments of 25% with some gap, say three months. This will help government to minimise the investment for purchase and avoid excessive storage at government level. 6. Let farmer offer the first installment and get the payment. At this point, the farmer should commit on the second installment, by keeping a cautionary deposit of 10%. The same may be deducted from the first installment payment. Farmers who expect improvement in market rates will avoid committing the second installment. 7. To prevent recirculation of ration issues, let Government procure Paddy, if the issue in ration is milled rice. Similarly, atta packets with wheat is meant for procurement. 8. Let the next year MSP rates are modified, with a 5-10% incentive for shortage in a perticular crop, over and above the MSP arrived. Where there is a considerable excess, which has to be exported or gifted abroad, let Government retain the previous year MSP, till the farmers switch crops naturally to avoid excess production in a given case. 9. Any better ideas/interactions over the above to find a viable solution is welcome. We can't have Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan, just as slogans. Dr K Sham Sunder an aeronautical scientist (Retd)

This is anti free market economy. This is so wrong for the economy. U r destroying supply and demand concept . Its already seen farmer in punjab are most producing rice and wheat which give them more profit as the government keep buying from them . Even though we don't require so much rice and wheat the government still have to buy from them . Then government then have to keep the rice and wheat in the godown which later is gets spoiled .

When there is shortage of crop govt import to control prices. When there is supply of crop produce is more we dont get good price so when will the farmer benefit.
