The only thing that limits me is space, so my garden is small, but it is satisfying to grow your own food.

Hi Daniel and Ksenia. Love radishes. Slovaks make this bryndza spread(which is a sheep cheese, butter, onions), you mix it until creamy, chop radishes inside. lots of them... get a crusty bread, load it with spread. The best breakfast of the summers. I can not get bryndza here in USA, but it works with cream cheese too! Unfortunatelly we can not grow anything but some bushes and trees in our clay PA soil and even when I did plant some veggies...Mr Deer will clean it up. We tried! Enjoy your Siberian summer. Mowing grass is a bit of an annoying stereotype, but unless you buy a sheep or a goat, mowed grass can be used for many things. Like mulch to trees for water retention. To create a preparation for fertilizing the lawn and garden, or as a basis to compost. Store all grass, plucked weeds and fruit and vegetable residues in compost to create your own humus substrate. You might think that the Earth is rich in nutrients and other substances, but compost will always come in handy. At a minimum, you can sell it to the city or online, or breed earthworms in it that Daniel will use for fishing. The main thing is not to throw biological waste from the garden into the trash. There is a lot you can grow in Siberia. Try garlic. My brother in law lives in Siberia and he is a farmer. He grows garlic.

Radishes, lettuces, some herbs, green onions, are fast. Garlic scapes can be harvested early before the garlic is ready. Things that come back like chives, herbs, asparagus, rhubarb, berries, etc are some of the first things to harvest too. Cold frames can help extend the growing season and help things come up faster.

Учтите, что нужно менять места посадки разных растений через каждый год. Очень хорошо сажать горох или другие бобовые на смену. Они способны накапливать азот в почве. Ну и разумное количество удобрений не помешает. Удачи в этом интересном и полезном деле. Ещё огурцы посадить и будет полный набор для окрошки. Редис лучше сажать через каждую неделю - две. Он растёт очень быстро и также быстро перерастает. Поэтому если посадите его сразу много, то не успеете съесть. Он перерастет. А понемногу, но каждую неделю, у вас всегда будет молодой редис

Las gallinas se comerán todos tus recortes.. They eat anything. Ducks will eat insects. Think about Perennials that you plant once and they come back every season. I have Asparagus & artichokes. Look to see which perennials will grow in your climate. Fruit trees, Grapes, Berries--- Plant once and harvest for many years. Buena suerte desde Arizona y Guaymas, Sonora... Jaime..

Из зелени отредиски делаю вкусный зеленый суп или грузинское пхали, очень вкусно. Редиску можно ферментировать точно так же как огурцы. Попробуйте, не пожалеете

I don't have a garden, we have a patio de luz and two roof terraces. This year for the first time I have tried to sow tomatoes, courgettes, cucumber, squash. They're all growing well but very slowly as I sowed late (end of May). Friends have already given us massive tomatoes, so that was a bit annoying lol.

Все мелкосемянные растения (морковь, редиска, дайкон и тд.) можно сажать так: дома ранней весной,(на столе, в комфортных условиях) наносишь на туалетную бумагу мучной клейстер, в этот клейстер аккуратно на нужном расстоянии раскладываешь семена. Даешь высохнуть клейстеру. Аккуратно сворачиваешь бумагу в рулончик. Когда наступит время высадки, делаешь бороздку, туда укладываешь бумагу с семенами, присыпаешь, поливаешь. Всё.

This is a success, I am so glad for you!!! Информация для Ксении: посади лук слизун, его не надо сажать каждый год, у меня он растёт уже 20 лет. Тоже самое лебисток приправа, на вкус смесь петрушки и базилика, тоже один раз посадил и забыл. Самый большой плюс, когда весна и только начинают все сажать, они уже дают урожай. Если интересны другие овощи и растения, могу написать. Кстати где рос лук или чеснок почти ничего не вырастет потом

One word, greenhouses. Exploit the fact that you're getting more sunhours in the summer, while letting you extend the growing season by a few months into sping and fall, as well as being able to grow things that usually belong much further south. My cousin uses 2 greenhouses on his mini farm to basically be selfsufficient(for a family of 4) at 62 degrees north not so far from here. Don't rush it(and don't try it carelessly, or it's just wasted money), but consider testing out a 20-40 sqm greenhouse to let you grow warmer climate things in summer, and an extra crop of cold climate things in fall.

U r lucky to find a woman who is agree to live at country. Most young people want to live in big cities with cafes, malls, wc, shower, central heat etc

Посадите капусту "кале". Это не кочанная капуста, а листовая. Листья используются в салат. В ней очень много полезных элементов и она растет до -18 градусов Цельсия. Почитайте о ней в интернете.

Советы для Ксении: у всех корнеплодов главное при посадке это не загустить семена, т.е. не сажать семечки часто друг к дружке. Иначе будет то, что у вас получилось. Для редиски оптимальное расстояние 3х3 см. Еще один важный совет - чтобы не стоять в интересной позиции долго над грядкой, раскладывая семечки, побереги спину, она тебе еще пригодится в жизни. Для этого свари немного обычного клейстера из муки, купи самой дешевой туалетной бумаги (по 8р) разрежь ее на куски по длине грядки, и обычной кисточкой наклей семена посередине полосы через 3 см. Вся эта работа делается дома в комфортных условиях, а не под палящим солнцем в компании веселых, дружелюбных комаров. На грядке сними мотыгой верхний слой земли, расстели в канавку бумажную полосу с наклеенными семенами и присыпь землей (2см толщины) затем нужно просто хорошо полить и всё! Результат тебя удивит - редиска (или морковка, свекла и пр) получится отборной, крупной одна в одну. Семена моркови наклеивают через 5см, свеклы и редьки через 10 см. Проверено на деле, удачи вам с Дэном!

Glad to see young folks gardening! Daniel here are some gardening suggestions: We garden in USDA zone 3 off the north slope of the Adirondack mountains. Lowest temp in last 35 years: 50 below F, last 15 years are warmer; coldest temp. 32 below F. Frost free on average 3rd week May - mid September (extremes: first week June and first week September) We are latitude 44.80, you guys are 500 miles farther north WOW. Hope you can use our experience. Quick vegetables: Kohlrabi, Broccoli, lettuce, Kale all love cool weather and mature fast. We highly recommend Asian greens like Tatsoi, and Chijimisai- they are absolutely delicious in salad and much like spinach cooked, grow fast and love cool weather in the spring or fall. We plant first week of May (Plants we start indoors first week of April and grow in cold frames till May) and are eating salads all June, when the heat arrives all the above crops, except Kale, don't do so well, but are mostly all eaten up. We eat kale from June through early December, a good vegetable to grow. Can you grow apple trees? We like an old Russian variety called Duchess of Oldenburg- good disease resistance, Cold hardy to -50F and you can probably find it local and graft onto a seedling. Good luck.

Friend, I would replace the railroad ties around the radishes. They have most likely been treated with highly toxic substances to prevent rotting.

Most vegetables in the north are grown in greenhouses . It will be necessary to water the owl themselves. But fruits and berries are grown on the street. Congratulations on your first harvest.

Radish, carrot and beetroot leaves can all be used as salad greens.Along with coriander (cilantro) and nasturtium leaves and flowers. And green nasturtium seeds can be pickled like capers.

As a keen gardener with over 25 years of experience growing vegetables, ask the local gardeners about the varieties they grow. What works well in one place does not work well in other places. For quick growing veggies, you could grow loose leaf lettuces, baby carrots, broccoli and some cabbages. You’re already on it growing peas and green onions in addition to your radishes. You guys are very hardworking people! Try to mix reddish with slices of cucumber and sour cream. That's how my mom used to make salad.I grow some plants in pots on my patio as tomatoes, letuce, cale and a bit of this and that. It's fun to see them growing.

Ukrop is called dill in English. It's used to season Borscht. Onions will grow better if you lay the onion seeds on a wet paper towel overnight, and then plant them.

I love red radishes. I also like white radish sandwiches; long sliced white radishes, fresh bread, tomatoes sliced & well drained, crispy curly lettuce with plenty of salt, pepper, and mayo or fresh butter. Yummy!
