In Australia a farmer or farm worker commits suicide every 4 days. Never seek a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Every family needs a farmer.
Yes, the situation haunting your mind is only temporary. Please remember this all of those who contemplate the final solution. I have known too many that didn’t look at it this way. Your way of putting it is good simple advise.
The body is strong the mind is fragile. Nobody should ever be scared to reach out for help. Great video QDM. The great outdoors sure beats an office any day.
Your song reminded me of the sea shanties here in NS that I miss going out to pubs to listen to. Wow Saskatchewan shanties rock too! Thanks and keep up the upbeat uploads. Take care!!
@@QuickDickMcDick It also sounds a bit like a Quebec song We sang in grade 4. The chorus was , "Hey ho away we go, Donkey riding, donkey riding Hey ho, away we go, Riding on a donkey' The 'donkey' was a small steam engine used to haul timber, I think.
Good work. My years farming in the UK before I came to live in Canada 22 years ago were the most difficult, drudgingly hard, worst paying years of my career before I admitted defeat & changed path into electronics, instrumentation & controls, but nevertheless they were also some of the most satisfying years & I enjoyed my time immensely. Farming is the single most under respected, under supported & under appreciated job out there. The risks are huge, the costs are eye watering, the profits are slim, skill set you need is vast & the skill level you need is extreme (or else something or someone gets broken). You don't get a sick day, you don't get a stat holiday, you don't get a vacation & you work every day of the year in some form or other but if you are lucky you can get away with just feeding up & milking today... if you do extra prep work the three days before! You have never worked hard until you worked a harvest with small bales in a heatwave, under blazing sun stacking the 8th load of feed bales into the rafters if a sun soaked tin shed where the temperature has to be 50 degrees & the air inside is stifling!
We have these lines and help centers now for merchant seamen. Glad you guys have them too. The call centers are manned 24h, and say they're taking calls nonstop. It's a great service, worthy of support.
Thank you from rural Ontario. You are a breath of truthful, humorous, yet serious fresh air. You are obviously a very intelligent man. Thank you for what you are doing for our once great Country Sir
Man… I’ve been laughing for an hour moving cows on my farm here in PA… I finally stopped laughing… saw a red gas can… and started again… freakin great! Thanks!
Greetings! What a great way to start the morning...thank you!, And thank you for the reminder about how important it is to have that ‘relief valve’. We’re all under too much stress. God bless.
You continue to do great work, Mr. McDick. I’m sure it is always appreciated. Many Thanks! ... from those who mightn’t always say so. Catch you next time too.
Wow, that's great to hear! I'm sure at least I hope that we have one in the States, and I hope that there's many of farmers that get good use out of that! Thanks QDM for sharing!
Once again my Saskatchewan brother you bring to the everyone’s attention that mental health is something we all need to think about, take care of, and speak openly about. The more we do the better health we will all have. Remember there is help out there for everyone don’t be afraid to ask. It is just like cancer you would think twice of getting help for that and mental health is no different!
People are always talking about 1st responders, in my opinion the most important job in today’s society are farmers. Without farmers there would be no food for humans or their pets. When ever someone I hear say “thank you” to a first responder, I interject and say “please say thanks to a farmer when you see one.” Good channel for promoting your career, and I for one love it. Thank you for helping to feed all of us and our pets.
You are awesome. Next time i go through your town i got to buy you a coffee or beers. Thanks for being so you and freekin entertaining. This is from an old ranch hand turned truck driver. Keep up the fantastic work.
Great video Quick we all need support so good on you for helping get the message out there! This will be shared to help others find support everyone needs 👏
Don't blow a line, but you blew my mind with your little chime. And that's OK cause it made my day. By the way, did you notice the resemblance too JT, as you pushed the bull down the road, while you crushed the toad that was on the road.
perfect video. loved the song. simple and a straight message. This idea can go across the board. I have been out of work for a specialized job for over 9 months.I planned a recurve white tail hunt this morning. low and behold a job offer came in. Hold your head high and dont cave in. better thing are always on the horizon....just like a great Saskatchewan sunset!
Oh Brother in tears! ( So friggin funny! much appreciated humor) it's been one heck of a year here in Saskatchewan and mental health issues are a serious subject matter here in the farming community! I'm so happy you did this amazing vlog! Luv&Peace Sean&family

How's she goin'? Who says you need to live by the ocean to have sea shanty song!!! Great work on that one Quick and I support your efforts for the 'talk line' Mental health is one of those things that sneaks up on ya and you don't even know it till maybe it's too late. And that isn't good. Kudos to you and the team there for providing this support 24/7!!! Take care!!!
A bull that doesn’t know when to stay in the field? Did you know that Holstein-Fresian cows can put those Olympian jumpers to shame? Had one that could clear a 5 foot vertical without touching the barbed wire. Btw That commentary brought back some “fun” memories
Yeah, I was jealous in seeing the quad. Good old leg work when I was young! Calves were always something to look forward to. Annual gym membership not required!!!
Very similar to farming in Australia and yes, very important to have that release valve for your mental health. Cheers for the vid and keep up the good work 👍🏻
Mental health is no joke. You always need the freidn you can call and just yell about the days problems. They tell you there problems and then usually laugh it all off. We are not alone. #breakthestigma
