I couldn't tell of you were legitimately falling or were trying to show how slick it was then kept trying to catch yourself. It was as if you were putting all your weight on that shovle trying to keep you up. Great video.
And the "Academy Award" for best stunt in a calf barn, goes to...Eric! My son's name is Eric, and he would have done the same thing. The care you give, and the concern you show for your animals, always warms my heart. Stay warm, and stay safe!
I have to give you a lot of cred for your ice performance. I think you have a future in the next Olympic trials, but the Russian Judge only gave you a 7.3 on your performance though
You had me holding my breath when you and the shovel started to sip and slide dance! Woo! And I love that the cow knew her assignment and knocked the chocolate milk over right on time! She's a natural actor! Great video!
I live in the same province as SaskDutch Kid. We just had a two week bought of -40. Although it is not uncommon somehow we hunker down and get through it. Well maintained equipment with good batteries is a must for sure. I always feel sorry for the animals but they hunker down as well and as soon as the temperatures rise to anything above -10 it feels like spring!
@@paulcasefarms9933 Minus 40 Celsius. It equals Minus 40 Farenheight. 0C = 32 F Minus 10 C = 14 F. We haven’t used the old scale since 1979 so I am a bit rusty. Hope this helps.
Great video as always!!!!! Best dance routine I have seen in years.!!!!!!😃 You need to give your dance partner ( the shovel) a name!!! I could not have held up as well. Stay safe and warm.
AAAAAAAnd the cow drops the bottle of choco-milk right on cue, priceless🤣😂, calf barn ice ballet😂🤣, Great video Eric! Hope that cow sells to someone who had to let allot of cows go during all the lock downs. People don't realize you can't just turn the milk switch off for a while then flip it back on. Glad you guys survived it so well.
Hi Eric, maybe you and your Father could do a video sometime about the history of your dairy thru the past generations. Just a thought, thanks for your videos.
Eric, can I buy some AI straws from you for those self bottling chocolate milk cows? Never seen that breed before! lol Need some of those here in Scotland.
Just as I'm sipping my hot chocolate in cold upstate New York, a cow spits out a chocolate milk at you. Heating it up for you so it will be hot chocolate also? lol All that ice! You need that and a pair of skates!
Why are you selling that cow when you could be getting mega money for the cow that vomits bottled chocolate milk. I think you have a unbelievable market there.
DAMN that looks like fun shoveling ,you must sleep great, hope all is well, hug the family.and hug a cow,we love them burgers, god bless you brother, thank you ,the sas dutch kid ,really serious guy and his sisters are amazing people ,love everyone and thanks a million
Our family wouldn't stop laughing at you on the ice we are a big fan our family is I couldn't stop laughing as well. I also love your hats. Your the best
I watch your videos in the tractor and at home because I live on a dairy farm as well. Did you know when I'm sad I watch your videos to cheer me up because I'm 10.
Call me lazy but when you scrape the alley in the calf barn you should just scrape what you can't scoop with the bucket back towards the spreader and scrape it back into the pile when the calf fronts are open. When you get to be my age you'll regret the shoveling and 100# feed bags lol
I don't know where to start you have a cow that gives milk out of both ends one is Chocolate in a bottle (that is what it looked like so I got out of my recliner and opened a cow tail and started to chew it wondering what was next and there it was I thought you were falling But when you started looking like cotton eyed Joe I ate the whole cow tail laughing my head off. Good one Eric .
Sooner or later one has to grab the square nosed shovel to finish the job, I love a good square nosed shovel with a flexible ash handle and good temper on the blade. Bob in Nevada
I am new to the channel and have been watching quite a few videos over the past week. They are really high quality and fun to watch. I did wonder how you ensure you are keeping safe against potential hazards you are exposed to. Examples - you got the manure treatment (dec 2021) powder on your clothes and were spreading with your bare hands, also adding lime to bedding and then so much dust is in the barn when spreading. Anyway, would be an interesting video some time to walk us through the hazards you are exposed to and how you ensure you and other workers stay safe. Take care and keep the videos coming.
I live in Southern Ontario. We get a lot of icy days. We do get the negative temperatures as well but it doesn’t last as long. Those bitterly cold days are hard to take
Another great farm video Eric - thanks for posting. You guys do awesome work for the community and it is appreciated and take great care of the girls (aka cows). Love how the skid loader attachment blows in the sawdust for you.🐄🐄🐄 Oh yeah, you should have added in some dance music between 7:21 and 7:35💃💃💃
IowaDairyFarmer and the Megan_DairyGirl on TikTok talk about this . They said they like the cold and their Rumen generates a lot of heat and that keep then warm down to -20 then then they start to feel cold stress. On this channel there are some videos and you can see they lower the wind screens (curtains) to keep wind off the cows and that seems to help a lot.
09:28 Just a thought. Couldn't you put the ziptie just below the device on the clear hose? Not so tight as to restrict but enough to create an obstruction to stop it from slipping down on the hose.
you are either the luckiest guy i have every seen not to fall or an elite level athlete that did that for the entertainment purposes of your followers. Either way - that was awesome ice scene
Hi Eric, I really appreciate the work you're doing! A tip for the vacuum actuated pinch valve, since I had the same problem. See the metal tab above the pincher? From what I gather, that's there for attaching a hose clamp to keep the valve where you want it on the hose. You shouldn't need the clamp that's currently on the hose beneath the pincher. Move that one up around the tab and the hose, and you should be good to go. However, I bet that zip tie will work just as well. Take care and keep up the good work.
Crazy how fast the world changes , I remember when most if not all farmers best friend was a roll of bailing wire & a good pair of pliers , now it's zip ties 😀. Always enjoy these videos.
Non-farmer here...If there is such as reincarnation...I'd love to come back as one of your cows! Do you ever find yourself getting too emotionally attached to them? I certainly would.
Just started watching a few months ago… enjoy seeing all the farming you do that I never though farmers do… how is your human babies doing? Thanks you for giving insight to being a jack of all in farming.
I absolutely love SaskDutchKid! Your channel and his channel are my FAVORITE channels on RU-vid. I have been binging them for over a week now! Edit: you did really good at not falling on your ass on that ice! 😂 winter sucks sometimes.
You’re a cool dude Eric. I really enjoy watching your informative videos. The way you look after your animals is heart warming. I can imagine the wonderful care & love you give to your family. Stay Warm & Stay Safe
Hey there Partner. How much would a pregnant cow milker go for in today's market? never mind. You said it. $1000 to 1200.00 Thanks for all your wonderful videos young man. It's always a treat when your new vids hit.
With the cold you keep things plugged in to keep warm. Plug in the mixer tractor and 2 skid steers. Buy 1000 gals no 1 diesel add 2gallons of Howes when you get it delivered.
