Check your game log, it will likely list the reason. It is probably a malfunctioning script, which would take experience to fix. Often when mods with lots of scripts are converted this is the case, and conversion becomes a lot more difficult that what I have shown.
Is the vehicle rather jittery? If so, this might help... Below There are some things you can try, for example decreasing the mass of the vehicle. This can be done in Giants Editor by decreasing the density. Hi, good video showing the very first steps however converting isn't that straight forward. You did a very basic vehicle. Mods like tractors and such can have wrong tires on it and misplaced hitches and other elements. You have to look at the error log in the game folder for the less obvious errors and if you have developer mode activated you can see errors that way when you load the item into the game map. One thing to tell people in my opinion is the Giants editor is not something to play around with unless you have a very good understanding about what it does. Giants does have a pdf manual. There are good videos tutorials from accomplished modders on RU-vid also :)
Yes, this is true, some mods can be a real pain, especially when they have a lot of scripts that don't work properly with FS 17. This can often cause problems that I did not have, but others may. I know it is not as simple as this, but this video just serves as a base for people looking to convert mods, and get started that way. if somone is going to convert a mod, manual or, through the editor, it does requires knowledge of some sort in working with mods, and I do not expect everyone to exactly know what they are doing at first. So yes, I am aware of this, and I am trying to make some videos that may help resolve these problems, within time. I will also maybe try to make the fact that : "Giants editor is not something to play around with unless you have a very good understanding about what it does" clear in my videos, and something to the effect that you should have a basic/moderate understanding of how it works. hey man, having troubles. trying to convert a square bale wrapper from 15. got everything converted and shows up in mod list. but i cant get it in game. it just says vehicle selection is being purchased. im new to this so i have no idea how to fix this
Hi, so to get straight to it, most likely your problem is an outdated / incompatible script, that would have worked in fs 15 but not fs 17. If you check your log at : My Documents / My Games / Farming Simulator 2017 / log.txt You should see which scripts are causing the errors. Scripts are generally in .lua format so it will likely list something like LUA callstack, Error, that kind of thing and generally something there with (ScriptName).lua To fix this problem you generally remove the offending script, unless you understand lua enough to convert the faulty script.
That would be because it is a script mod, script mods must be converted manually, or, at least the lua files must be updated to fs 17 standards. Unfortunately the conversion tool does not do this, as is usually shown in the report as : lua file copied without change. That is since it has no fs 17 equivalent script for that mod.. Unfortunately I know little to nothing about lua scripting, so I'm not able to help you there. Sorry about that.
I just tried that. Only one warning. The lua file was copied as is. My mod is not showing up in the game. I tried converting the bunkersilo from fs15. Any thoughts?
It shows up in mods on title screen,when you just hit mods. But when i select a saved game to play, it doesn't show up on that list and i can't use it. why?
That is a rather odd issue. However, a good place to start is to check your log at: My Documents / My Games / Farming Simulator 2017 / log.txt and check for errors, especially from lua's. Often listed is the name of the offending lua after something like, lua call stack. Best way to fix such errors, unless you know lua programming is to remove the offending script. I will be uploading a video to this effect when I can.
This is likely due to an error, likely with one of the scripts used in the vehicle. Check the log at My Games / Farming Simulator 2017 / log.txt then work to fix those errors.

You know how to convert a mod which has how do i say it storage like a trailer? the mod I am talking about is a crasshopper. It has the ability to unload a combine. Fill from a silo but I cannot find out why it wont work after converting. I have the fuel locked on to saying hit R to fill fuel. Hello there, unfortunately I don't really have any videos on mod's fill capacity yet. It does however sound like it could be a problem with the fill plane, if it functions like a trailer, like you say. You forgot to mention light corona's.. oh and winRAR is junk go use 7zip. it's faster and FREE. Get a better a microphone please. Once I get the time to check out how to fix light coronas, I may make a video of how to fix some conversion problems, and the such. So i'm trying to convert a mod from FS13 to FS17 and i keep getting this error: "Mod Desc version 9 is not supported". Any solutions? I'm really new to modding.
find an in game vehicle similiar to the mod you are working on and copy the top few lines covering everything about the vehicle and purchase desc etc.. paste that over your existing mod xml and change the lines for title, desc, store.dds etc to what your mod is there are many videos online regarding this topic as well

I know, go to My Computer/C:/Program Files(x86)/Farming SImulator 2017 or C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Farming Simulator 2017 Then go to data / shared Then copy the files there named coronaRed_diffuse, and coronaWhite_diffuse and coronaOrange_diffuse over the corona texture files in your mod.

Some mods simply won't convert properly, since their scripts are not compatible with FS 17, such incompatible scripts would likely be modded scripts, which need to be updated to FS 17 standards. It is not the fault of this conversion method that your vehicle does not work, if it is due to such scripts, which the editor does not/cannot convert interferring with your mod working. You can find the error - causing scripts by looking at your log, at My Documents / My Games / Farming Simulator 2017 / log.txt I will soon be releasing a video of how to remove such scripts on my channel.

Sometimes this can be due to an incompatible script. Sometimes, the only things to do is wait for a new version of the script to come out, and replace the one in the mod with it, or update the script yourself. You can also remove the script causing the trouble, if you can find out which one it is, and then the mod should work. I may be able to have a look at the mod for you as wel and see if I could help.

It is likely an error due to one of the scripts being incompatible with fs 17. You can check which ones in the game log, and then fix those, if you know how.
I've done exactly the same thing time and again, and it shows up, I check it, once in game I hit the P key, find it in the store, buy it, yes, next screen you want to buy X for X amount? Yes, completing purchase, and it never completes, the little hour glass keeps spinning.
It may be useful to check your game log at: My documents/My Games/Farming Simulator 2017/ log.txt and look for any errors in there, likely at the bottom of the text, or enable the dev console and use it. You can remove the code relating to animation script within the xml and moddesc.xml. However this does require a bit of experience with coding. Perhaps I could look at it for you tommorow sometime?

I'm not sure, but you could try converting it again and see what happens. Perhaps it didn't convert properly. So, yeah, just try running it through the converter tool again.

Probably not, as I have never done a baler / bale wrapper before, or generally, implements / trailers. However, you may be able to find help on fs-uk.com. Or if you want to have a go at it yourself, you could try converting it, referencing the bale wrapper that comes with the game (FS17).
i liked the video it helped a lot but still don't help. I am getting errors to the point it wont load up such as version not supported and i am working off of 2013 and 2015. Thanks for the tutorial though
Yes, that is a common problem, unfortunately though any conversion method there will be errors, which can neagtively affect the result. Ultimately you can convert it easily, but fixing the errors becomes a real pain. You are welcome though.
As for the other errors, usually this is due to scripts incompatible with FS17, I will maybe discuss specifics of how to fix these things in a future video.
My newest video which I am hoping to get out today will hopefully show you how to fix it. It is mostly a problem with the scripts, and to fix this, you have to remove the script, which, how to do that, will be shown in the video.

Could you convert the Krone Big M500 wide mod please? I tried it and it gave an error with lua. "Error: running lua method 'onsavegameloaded'." I'm no coder myself so i have no idea what to do with it.

Ones without extra/modded scripts are more likely to convert cleanly to FS17, yes.Either that, or remove the mod scripts from the vehicles you have converted.
top video ive being trying to convert rwtb350 mod. other channels on the same subject but everyone talks too fast and races through so far im 1/2 way there
best thing to do is either remove the script, or replace it with a fs17 ready version, if there is one, or update it to fs 17 standards yourself if you know how.
This tool basically just does the basic conversion for you, such as updating the structure of the Moddesc and xml to fs17 standards. Some fixes, need to be done manually. 1st problem, sounds like it could be a problem with a misguided index path or malfunctioning script. 2nd problem should not stop it from working. Also, they are both warnings so technically, it should still work. Are there any "Error:" bits?

I honestly have no idea as I have never converted one, but I would assume so as long as the mower doesn't have and scripts that would interfere with it working properly in fs 17.
Ive tried this with a ton of my FS15 mods, none of mine have worked, I get lots of: "Warning:Invalid convex cooking data" errors, google has no idea either :D
Sometimes mods have incompatible scripts, or flawed code, which can cause these issues.... This was also a problem with converting mods to FS 15, FS 13, etc... Even manually. Have you used the mod iin FS 15? How did it work then?
I think perhaps putting this in the xml does it. Of course changing the node, such as here "0>8" to the proper node of your vehicle. So basically, where the body of your vehicle is, I think, could be wrong.
well, there is only a converter for 64bit and i have 32bit so it doesnt work for me, because i wanna have a excuvator in it but i cant findt one any where, so if somebody wanna help me
Yeah, idk why they wouldn't make a 32 bit version, as they did for fs 15, very strange.... I'd try and help but I got lots of projects on my hands already, but perhaps you could find some help on fs-uk.com, there are some modders on there that sometimes can help you out.

This may be since the attacher joint index is wrong in the xml, or an error of some sort, check your game log at My Documents/ My Games / Farming Simulator 2017 / log .txt after going in-gaming, buuying the vehicle, driving it, and quitting.

I´ve made it.. I took and unpacked the zip.. then open map.. Mark every file.. Rightclick marked files and create a new .zip whit all the files in the root. After that it worked flawless.. And if u get weird lights from the tractors do it as they explane in this link fs-uk.com/forum/index.php?topic=186912.msg%msg_id% Ps! Sorry for my bad english :)

Well, to explain it simply, this is just the method of getting the mod ready for FS17, to actually get the mod working in-game, it often takes a lot more work and polishing.... Often old scripts (such as animation script, beleuchtungv31) and other fs 15 mod scripts, are not compatible with fs 17. This conversion method, does not / will not convert these scripts, but simply copies them over without change, as showed in your conversion report you get once it finishes conversion. As such, these scripts, if they don't work with fs17, will cause issues such as the mod not showing up in-game / not buying / etc. Likely why only 1 mod worked is since it had little to no custom scripts to it. Only way to fix these problems unfortunately is to remove the script, or convert the script to fs 17 standards. Though, if you don't understand lua coding, conversion is next to impossible. I may do a short video on how to remove such scripts in the near future.

So i converted an f350 dually and im having problems with the sound. the start up and shut down sounds work but there is no idle or run sounds. they are in the sound folder but dont work in game. Have a clue how i could fix this
Yes, check the xml, and somehwere down there, you should see something like this... 1500 Check that the filepaths, for example: "$data/vehicles/steerable/lizard/lizardPickupRodeo_stop.wav" Make sure this is where the sound is.
