Faron Young was the epitome of pure country music. A teardrop in every word and a heartache in every line. There was never, and shall never be, a greater voice.
I've kissed Faron. Faron one of a kind! Hearing him touches every part of my soul. I can't explain how much I love his voice and hearing him sing. He's deep inside everything he sings. He lives inside the song. What a voice. I saw him in person in San Diego. Small venue Clairemont Bowl in 70's. I was front row in the chairs placed on the dance floor. Stage was just 2 ft high. So I was literally about 5 feet from Faron. He started singing and I felt like I was drifting in Heaven. My eyes were laser focused on Faron and I guarantee he had to feel how much I was feeling in his nearness and his performance. He stepped down from the stage in the middle of a slow song and took 2 steps and bent down to kiss me. I couldn't help myself and I put both hands at the back of his neck and held on. When I let him go..he took my hand and gave a big squeeze and stepped back to the stage. Never forgotten moment for me. I have every song he ever sang and copies of all his live appearances. Loved him way back when and love him now. Thank heavens we still have his music. Rest in Peace Faron.
