Here's what I don't understand. This series is more than 20 years old but there's never been a sci-fi series since that had characters that looked as good as these. The story pulled me in so much that I never once looked at one of the characters and said that's a puppet, or that's an actor with makeup and prosthetics. The Expanse is the only one I can think of that came close but that came 15 years after Farscape.
AFAIK the Jim Henson Company has never worked on any other 'grown up' sci-fi series due to a combination of cost and scheduling. It's a shame, they're the absolute masters of puppetry and the quality on show in Farscape makes the occasional CG monsters really stand out as lacking by comparison. Also, Pilot is technically a Muppet, which I think is cool.
@@CesarinPillinGaming Star Trek did come up with some rather creative non-humanoid aliens now and again, especially in TOS. It's just that they barely ever feature them beyond their first appearance... Imagine what the Jim Henson studio could do with the likes of the Hydran or Tholians. Heck the man in the suit look of the Gorn could be made to work convincingly with modern technology.
@@minicle426 "creative" like how they mocked Discovery for their tech usage while old trek some hilarity such as giant space lincoln or giant space baby and hand?
What they thought entertainment will become: A massive set of farscape What entertainment did become: A massive greenscreen with smaller greenscreens around
I just finished watching the whole series and PK Wars a couple weeks ago after my husband introduced it to me. I agree, I wish there was more!! Definitely one of the best things I've seen.
@@granonfilmproductions If you're looking for other sci-fi like this check out the STARGATE series. Lots to watch there. Also BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is another good one
@@granonfilmproductions Yeah.Babylon 5 is quite good. I could also recommend BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, LEXX (if I remember correctly, same type of bio ship as in Farscape) and DUNE.
OMG REALLY!?!?!?! I had no clue. What I'm saying is that they made more seasons of Star Trek as well, and they still ended up making movies out of um. I'm saying a trilogy would be awesome for this series as well.
Excellente immersion.. Vous avez Péter le Score !!!
Just stumbled upon this show....and I saw STAR WARS Episode 4 in theaters in 77. I really like this show, if Hollywood would only get back to, eh, never mind.
oh god I'm glad my young ones didn't see RYGEL going through that wringer it''ll give them nightmares hell it's giving me nightmares!! great doc on a greatly entertaining series!!
I mostly meant that what the people are saying and what the subtitles say are sometimes entirely different. When they say how "...the creatures are much more alien" the translation says that they look like if they came from a demonic world. It's like the translators were told the general gist of what was said throughout the 'making of' and they decided to just write up something based entirely upon the visuals that were showing up on the screen in a given moment.
William Leclerc Well for me at one point, during an interview with Rygel's puppeteer, when he described his character, they literally just slapped all four of his main descriptions without the rest of his monologue. Which felt lazy xD. Also when they said this show was epic, they said instead in the translation, it had alot of intelligence. Stuff like it makes it evident they did drop the ball rofl.
