And don't hit your nails fully home before removing the protection. This prevents a small bit getting trapped under the head of the Polytop.

@@SkillBuilder The guy who say Lintle like he had a worthers original stuck I'm his gullet then yes. Asks questions then answrs them himself half way through the other person explaining talking over them. Makes conclusions before they finish explaining. I learned a few bits from him I guess..

A lot of fascia has the guide lines already on the protective plastic. Another way is use the nail as the guide by standing it up.

Great tip have been doing similar for years it take 5 minutes to make a jig and saves hours ,do the same for kitchen cabinet doors and drawers for drilling handle fixings

Not always plus if the customer wants custom handles budget kitchens come ready to go but some more up market versions have to be nurtured and titivated if your lucky so does the customer Oi Oi !

I just eye ball it!! good job most times haven't got time to mark things up. Also if you want to remove a poly top from the nail just use your claw and turn it sideways put the top in the claw and bend it just pops off.

If the ends of rafter feet are knotty and yours having trouble knocking the polytopped pins in without bending or breaking the plastic caps then sometimes we drill small pilot holes. Nothing worse than trying to yank one of those buggers back out without damaging anything. Even with an offcut behind the hammer it's risky.
