Even if it was a mistake. The direction of the fire guard makes sense. The sun emits heat (flame faces the sharp side) while fire tends to burn upward by nature (away from sharp side). That's why people take cover in sunlight but gather around fire for cooking or warming up. Honestly, this is all bs on my part lol. I'd have to check the manga

It's because season 2 (Mugen train arc) was like a movie, so that makes entertainment district arc: season 2, swordsmith village arc: season 3, and season 4: hashira training arc. Honestly, it's not really much of a big deal.
