Please do the video about Regenerative braking in electric locomotive I'm eagerly waiting for the next video about this topic

Regenerative braking is where electric trains Locomotive and EMU's get their power/energy from an overhead wire or third rail! When braking or going down hill they produce power and sends it back up the supply line overhead/third rail. Like dynamic braking! They are related! I think *"Let's Grow Up"* may have made a video?

I was taught that modern train brakes work opposite of say car brakes - pressure to apply the bakes. As for trains, air pressure releases the brakes, for example if the train comes apart, the air pressure reduces, and thus applying the brakes. *Not* air pressure applying the brakes! If there's no pressure for the brakes, _(to apply the brakes)_ thus one may have a *_"run away"_* train AKA air pressure to apply brakes! If there is _pressure to release the brakes,_ *_"no run way"_* train! Thus like in Sydney & Melbourne metro trains, if one passes a stop signal, the train stop will trip a lever and thus release the _air pressure_ and bring the train to a stop!
@jonathonshanecrawford1840
@jonathonshanecrawford1840 Год назад
*Additional:* The principle of train air brakes is based on lowering brake pipe pressure to apply the brakes and increasing brake pipe pressure to release the brakes! *Not the other way around, the train isn't a car!*

Train brake is compressed air brake system watch new video for more clear It was introduction video, because there are so many devices

@@LetsGrowUp Just to clarify, in Australia and New Zealand, *we use air pressure to release the brakes.* If the train _(regardless)_ splits in two, the brake pressure drops to zero psi, thus the brakes are applied automatically. Not like air pressure to apply the brakes - stupid idea! That is it the train splits in two where does the train (2nd half) get its pressure from, when the reserve is empty? Is that why _(I heard) that America (USA))_ has lots of run away trains and derailments? Air pressure to apply brakes? Isn't it safer to have air pressure to release the brakes? Yes it may cost more?

You are correct

@made-in-the80s Australia and New Zealand uses *Air Pressure* to *Release* the brakes. Why would trains today use air to apply the brakes, that is *Not fail safe* The air tank on each car/wagon has a limited amount of air, when it runs out, then what? I talking about when the train comes apart _(in motion that is)_ *it does happen!* As to brake tests before the train leave, yeah sure what about later? We all have seen and heard in the USA _"run a way"_ trains, or is that just fiction, it never happens? Duh! of course it does, certain railway companies think using air pressure to apply the brakes is better, *what a load of rubbish.* Trains are not bicycles weighting less than 70kg while a train weighing over 100,000 Metric tonnes!

So when a train car brakes off another car it losses the air pressure braking the car instantly as long has the cars air tank has pressure in it

I've watched a handful of full of videos on dynamic breaking and a couple along with this one on mechanical braking say "braking is performed by taking kinetic energy and making it het energy " thats so confusing and actually not correct , the conversion from kinetic to heat isnt wht stopa the train its friction that stops the fkn train which causes the conversion to heat energy, now i know some of you engineers are going to flame me .... but my point is this isnt being explained to engineers.. and bith my mechanical engineer brothers agree with me and those assholes never agree with me
