Propellers are the kind of thing I'd give a BIG WIDE BEARTH around, like, get out of the plane and go no where near them, same with jet engines. She's lucky she wasn't mangled and torn to bits by the plane, today she still looks fine, she's just missing a hand (though with modern cybernetics, I'm sure she could get something that looks nice and works decent enough to put a dress on and makeup, amongst other things a human being might need to do)
She shouldn't have gotten out of the aircraft till the prop was stopped. Period! I've got to lay some of the blame on the pilot for allowing her to exit the aircraft.
All the blame is on the pilot in my opinion. I’m not exactly sure how someone manages to walk directly into a spinning propeller…but the pilot is supposed to turn the engine off before allowing people to exit in the first place…
There's only one failure for humanity here, and it's the fact that some people walk into moving propellers. It's like crossing the street without looking sideways and getting hit by a bus. It's sad, but it doesn't make you less of a dumbass.
This was 100% the pilot’s fault. You NEVER let a passenger in/out when your engine is running. Never. #1 thing you’re thought in flight school is to shout “Clear prop!” out loud before starting the engine, and that’s to make sure nobody is around the plane when the prop is spinning. Unfortunately this is not the first nor the last time something like this happens.
oh really? how often are you around planes? can you list the safety procedure between takeoff and landing? I can. At night the prop is literally invisible. Ever been on a live runway? Your not the only one with your engine so it gets noisy. Wind at your face? Ya you can feel it pretty good on the other side (not hers) and only when your 3 inches away. Also it gets windy alot on the runway as there are no trees.
In the Air Force there is a LOT of safety training regarding the hard stand. Beyond the environmental conditions you state above, it's not uncommon for people to become mesmerised by rotating blades, and occasionally they just start walking towards them. I doubt that's what this editor did, but people take aircraft for granted these days and don't understand either the immediate risks, or even the psychological risks.
A blonde walked into a propeller blade? Say it isn't so! Ask her how many maps are in the world and why maps are important. I'm glad that she's okay, but you really have consequences in life when not using common sense.
are you a pilot? I am. The prop on this type of plane is literally invisible at full speed and at night you just dont go anywhere near the front of the plane. It was really her pilots fault more than hers
You ARE STUPID!!! The pilot NEVER, NEVER Allows a passenger to exit the plane until ALL IS SHUT DOWN!!! You, Dumb ASS could never hold any position of responsibility with your mind set....RETARD!!!
Olive Sawyer I love how you used capital letters to emphasise your points, it’s such an old person thing to do! Enjoy your bananas and superior intelligence sir, I hope one day I can be just like you! X
@richgs76 no one said it was pretty, genius. jJust something that would absolutely never happen to most people ( i wonder why?) she was probably trying to take a selfie with her ' private plane'. there's a whole lot happening to decent people worse than some girl getting her hand chopped off by 'accident'.
I'm old fashioned and I was in aviation. I would have shut down acft. and escorted her from the plane. Girls don't think of things like this. She is just a little girl and men need to protect all women from bad things.
